CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN Alex sighed slowly, then he picked up the mortar and headed over to Jane in a slow but steady voice. As he moved, gradually Mr Newton changed his attention to his daughter. Alex also took a spoonful of the substance in the mortar, and just as he had done to Chloe, he applied some on Jane’s nostrils and also in her mouth, then he stood up and went towards Kelvin. He also did the same to him, then he went back to the table where his properties were and kept the mortar with the instrument that looked like a pair of forceps on the table. Carefully, he unfolded the white napkin to reveal the area that he had used to wipe the blood that came out of Chloe’s ears. As he gazed upon it, his eyes widened, then he pushed the napkin upwards to his nose and sniffed slowly, the reaction on his face was not normal. “They are still not cures Alex. Please come!” Mr Newton said aloud now standing close to Jane’s bed. Alex was clearly upset at the man’s impatience, but he raised

CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX That wasn’t the end of it all, soon their breathing escalated when they saw blood pouring from her ears as her eyes began to twitch vigorously. “Get away from her you Moron! Who sent you now?” Mr Newton said in a loud voice and moved to drag Alex away from his wife. He had almost touched him, when his daughter who was holding on to his hand drew him backward. “Stop Daddy, I think he knows what he is doing,” Tiara said in a teary but confident voice. “What? No! Can’t you see the way your mother is shaking? It’s either that he was lucky the first time or it was the Doctor who healed me. I should have listened to my instincts, now we are about to lose your mother.” Mr. Newton barked and separated himself from his daughter’s grip. “She will be fine Mr Newton, the poison is just leaving her body.” Alex managed to reply politely, hiding the anger that he felt inside of him.“By bleeding through the ears? How come that didn’t happen to me?” Mr Newton retorted in a las

CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE “May I?” Alex asked requesting to start with her mother. Tiara walked away from the side of the bed, allowing Alex to walk through. Just a look at the poor woman, Alex bent over and checked her pulses, then he looked at Jane and then at Kelvin. “These are similar symptoms to yours Mr Newton. I fear this could be manipulated. There is only one way to find out and I must get to the bottom of this.” Tiara turned to her father and both of them expressed deep shock at what Alex said, no words came out of their mouths but their eyes said a million words. Gently, Alex took a spoonful of the blackish mixture and with his hand, took a little quantity which he dipped into Chloe’s nostrils and mouth. As he was doing his work, Tiara and her father drew much closer to observe what he was up to. For a moment, they failed to realize that the substance had a foul odor that oozed all over the place. “Why does it smell so bad?” Tiara asked making a disgusted face. Her father

. CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR “As you can see he is gone now you can come and see them.” Tiara said to Alex few seconds after she was certain that the Doctor was really gone. Alex looked at her and smiled, then he heaved a sigh of relief and gradually proceeded towards the three persons lying on the three beds at a corner. “Whats wrong?” Tiara inquired after she had turned back to see that Alex had stopped right in front of the beds, just few inches before he could be right in front of them. “This smell! It’s strange but familiar at the same time. I don’t know what it is but I am definitely going to find out.” Alex said, then he moved closer to the beds to examine the sick persons. Lying on the first bed from the bed was Jane; her eyes were closed but they twitched at intervals and she struggled to breath properly making a wheeze. Her fists were tightened and the veins in her neck were out and reddish. On the second bed was Chloe Tiara’s Mother, her case seemed to be more critical

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE Getting to the Harrison Villa, the automated gate opened gradually and allowed the driver to wheel in the white Porsche, then he parked right in front of the exquisite mansion screaming millions of dollars. “Welcome again to our Villa.” Tiara said but Alex only responded with a smile as he got down from the car. “This way please.” She said slowly pointing towards the door that led to the entrance of the building. Alex followed her as they walked in. He obviously had been in the house before, but for some reason he wasn’t so mindful of the exorbitant chandeliers hanging at different angles of the roof. Their dazzling colors shun brightly with the reflections from the light inside, giving the room a spectacular outlook. It was a sight to behold. Soon they got to a door guarded by another set of body guards who stood motionless at first, but the moment they saw Tiara approaching with Alex , they slightly bowed to her and one of them pushed the door in to open
