Chapter 02

Edward's - [P.O.V]

"Celine I don't have time for your dramas, so please, just stay away from me now." I said rushing back to the Sherman hospital.

"Greetings Sherman, have you started the operation?" I asked, worried.

"Where is your son's down payment sir?" The pack Sherman doctor asked.

"Listen, I will bring it, please just start his operation already!" I said in tears.

"That's against our policies Edward, which I had told you earlier, and you said you were going to get the full amount so what are you saying now?!" the Sherman asked.

"Wait, I couldn't get the money but please help me doctor please!" I went on my knees crying to him.

"Look, I am sorry, but these materials carry spiritual elements that help, we are in a city, where they can't be found easily so it's not in my power to do so and like I said before… it's against the hospital policies." The sherman said.

The emergency lights begin to flash and attendants began running towards the room my son was laid in.

"Sherman, What's happening to my son?" I asked as I followed the Sherman doctor hurrying to Mason's patient room.

He shut the door from the inside so I couldn't get in, but from a small space in the door… I watched as my son fought for his life gasping for air and all I could do was tear up and watch.

As time passed I felt as though I was about to lose something precious but wasn't going to die.

"Boom!" A large explosion occurred.

Which led to total black out in the hospital.

It was past nine-PM.

Patients were frightened by the strange loud noise and the witches who were attendants were trying their best to calm them down.

The sherman finally came out with a serious expression on his face.

"We were able to stabilise him for now but I'll tell you one thing, if you want to help your son then get the money for his surgery." the sherman said.

"Kpa!" A loud gun shot was heard then after few seconds came multiple shots.

With each shot sounding louder than the last, everyone began running for their lives.

Hunters!

That's the first thing that came into mind.

I ran straight to Mason's room, detached everything on his body, taking him to safety. I could hear the sound of people being killed brutally, some already dead on the floor.

I came across a woman with blood gushing through her lower abdomen then she looked up to me, while pointing at a different direction.

"Use that door… It will take you straight to the second gate of the hospital, then you can escape from there." The woman said those words like it was her last words before falling back.

"What about you?" I asked.

"I'm already gone, forget about me, save your little wolf." She said counting her words.

"Thank you." I said following the way she had shown me.

I managed to get out of the sherman hospital even though it almost seemed like I was going to be caught but luckily we escaped.

After minutes of running, panting and walking, the ambulance together pulled over.

One of Ambulance cars took Mason to the hospital and the words doctors spoke weren't new to me cause I already knew. I woke up the next morning sitting on a chair I had dozed off in.

I felt weak and tired but could I rest, my son needed money for his treatment and I was too broke to afford it.

I'm just a man whose wife used his entire savings to satisfy her unquenchable spending habits.

"There's the pauper I have as a son in law, how's my grandson doing or you want to tell me you are too average to pay your son's hospital bills?" My mother-in-law said enthusiastically.

"How did you know we were here?" I asked angrily.

"It's all over the news you fool!" she responded.

The doctor approached.

"Are they here to pay your son's bills?" Asked the doctor.

"Oh you haven't even paid yet…" My mother-in-law says with a mocking tune.

"Excuse me." the doctor says heading to his office.

"I came here to see you concerning your and my daughter's rejection. Now I'm certain that l was never wrong when I didn't accept your perfertic mating proposal. She has seen it for herself." My Mother in-law said.

"You're absolutely right Mom, I should have listened to you, you were right all along… Edward is not just poor and not capable of taking care of the family, he is also a woman beater!" Celine said, shedding angry tears.

"Celine, what are you talking about? If it's about the soft slap touch, I'm sorry but don't do this to me, at least not now that our son needs us the most. Mason is sick of what we should be thinking about now, not Celine..." I said tearing out.

"Oh please spare me the drama. Edward you can't even afford your son's medical bills and what do you want me to do stay here and cry with you!?. You must be mad." Celine said.

"Celine, he's our son." I answered as Celine smiled in response to that saying.

"Yunno what, you're right, he's our son. He's also my responsibility. I'm willing to tell mom to assist with the bills but on one condition"

"Of course anything, please let's save our son's life." I mumbled out.

"I already signed the rejection papers from the alpha here, in exchange for Mason's hospital bills… I'll give you double the price if you want." she said Bluntly.

"Ce... Celine you making a deal out of your own son's life, your own blood? how could you!... Is this some kind of joke or something!" I responded feeling shattered.

"I'm not just thinking about myself here Edward, I care about my son's wellbeing too, so please sign it with your blood Edward... Please." Celine replied. I hesitated for a little while then collected the short knife and paper from her.

"Fine then, I accept your rejection." I said.

Then I cut through my thumb and Signed it.

"A deal is a deal Celine." I added.
