Chapter 1

Inside the room, Cesare looked very busy. His eyes were focused on the laptop, and his hands were nimbly pressing several keys on the keyboard.

"I think this is all done." He muttered, but his eyes were still focused on the lit screen.

Cesare moved his eyes to focus on the report he was currently working on. He ensured that it had no errors and would not upset his wife - Julie Webster.

Two years ago, Cesare saved the life of an old man - Bastien Webster, who was sick on the streets. Bastien Webster liked Cesare very much because he thought Cesare was amiable and very different from everyone he met. So he forced him to marry one of his granddaughters named Julie, among his three granddaughters, only Julie was unmarried.

At first, Julie opposes marrying a poor man like Cesare, but Bastien forces her to accept the marriage. That's why Julie was very cold and disliked Cesare.

Cesare had just finished all the reports he had been working on. But suddenly, Julie brought a pile of files, threw them on Cesare's desk, and shouted, "Do all this and in 3 hours, it should be done!"

Cesare immediately stood up to face Julie, who gave him a cold look. "Well, I've finished working on the report you requested this morning. And I'm going to finish this right away, Julie."

"This is an office and I often remind you to call me Miss when in the office. Remember, you are my subordinate here." Julie yelled at Cesare very loudly. She was annoyed with Cesare for not understanding.

Everyone already knew how Julie behaved towards Cesare, who was always rude. Some of the other employees were accustomed to hearing her yelling outside the room. But Cesare always treated Julie very well.

"Okay. Can I do it now?"

Cesare answered her very calmly. At the office, Cesare was Julie's subordinate, to be precise, his wife's secretary. But Cesare always tried to be a perfect, helpful husband to Julie.

"I know you won't be able to finish this, but you still have to finish it on time. Or if you don't, you'll see the consequences. I'll shout at you in front of everyone and let everyone know you're a useless husband!" Julie underestimated Cesare to the point that she also gave Cesare a warning.

"Alright. In exactly 3 hours, I will finish it." Cesare said confidently, but Julie sneered at him.

Cesare immediately started working on the files that Julie had just given him, which made Cesare very busy. He almost lost his lunch hour because Julie only gave him 3 hours to do everything.

Three hours passed, and now Julie approached Cesare at his desk again. "Is everything done?" Julie asked very coldly.

Cesare glanced at the clock on his left hand and then at Julie. "Just a little less. I'll finish it soon." Cesare refocused on his work, making Julie feel angry.

In fact, Cesare felt very tired. He had only gotten two hours of sleep today because he had been working on the materials for the meeting this morning. And now Julie kept him very busy again, not even giving him time for lunch.

"What, didn't I tell you to finish in three hours?" This time Julie shouted, but Cesare seemed indifferent and continued to stare at the files in front of him.

"There's still 10 minutes left, and in 5 minutes I'll finish this." Cesare replied very calmly, but it made Julie even more annoyed.

Cesare wanted to be calm. Otherwise, all his work would take longer to complete.

"If it wasn't for my grandfather, I wouldn't have hired you here! You're useless!" Julie scolded him.

It was indeed Bastien Webster who got Cesare hired to be Julie's secretary. At that time, Bastien had complete confidence that Cesare would be a great man. He wanted Cesare to make Julie a good woman, but often, Julie took the opportunity to always insult Cesare.

"I've finished it." Cesare closed the last file, put it together with the others, and handed it to Julie.

Irritated, Julie took one of the files and examined it. But she quickly threw the file back in front of Cesare.

"What's this? You're useless. I gave you 3 hours to do all the easy stuff, but you can't do it properly!"

Cesare was surprised and sure that he had done all the work well, but Julie shouted angrily and thought that all of Cesare's work was very bad.

Actually, it was Julie who couldn't do anything and could only shout. Until whatever Cesare did was always wrong in Julie's eyes.

"I'm sure if I did it all without mistakes. You can tell me where the mistakes are. I'll fix it." Cesare tried to explain, but Julie didn't care.

"You don't even know where your own mistakes are." Julie pushed the files closer to Cesare. "Take this and read it again."

Without further words or questions, Cesare immediately examined the files individually, but he could not find a single mistake. "I can't even find any mistakes here."

Julie glared at Cesare's face, in anger, she grabbed the glass on Cesare's desk and threw it, causing it to shatter instantly.

She was a woman who liked to make things up and always found an opportunity to torment Cesare. In fact, she also knew that the job was perfect. It was just that she always wanted to make Cesare suffer.

"You're useless!"

"What are you waiting for? Go clean it up!" Julie pointed at the shards of glass scattered on the floor. And without saying much, Cesare immediately got up from his chair.

Julie smiled with satisfaction as she watched Cesare pick up the shards on the floor. And suddenly, a handsome man walked into the room. Cesare and Julie knew that he was the man from the Torny family, and his name was Ricky.

"Hi, Julie? Are you okay?" Ricky greeted her, making Julie smile at him immediately.

"No, I'm not. I'm not okay. You can see this, right?" Julie glanced at Cesare with an angry look. "It's all because of that guy!"

Ricky glanced at Cesare for a moment and then looked at Julie. "Why are you still sticking with that loser? You're perfect, you can find another man who is established and at least useful to you. Not like that trashy guy."

"I've told him so many times to get out of my life, but he still persists. It's useless for me to talk, he'll never understand." Julie told Ricky her grievances.

Then Ricky looked at Cesare, still picking up shards, and said, "Did you hear that, stupid man? Why don't you get out of your life, wife? You're just here to prevent Julie from shining. I think you'd better get the hell out of Julie's life, and that's perfectly fine."

"It's useless for you to say that. I've told him that so many times. He's just a stupid man who can't understand."

Julie wanted to complain because she had to accept that her husband was useless to her. But her grandfather made her accept marriage to a loser like Cesare.

Meanwhile, Cesare, who had just finished cleaning up the broken glass, immediately replied to Ricky's words.

"You should have left because no one invited you to come here," Cesare's words made Ricky clench his hands into fists.

Julie widened her eyes as Cesare boldly said that to Ricky. "How can you say that to an important guest like Ricky? You'd better go and make some coffee for him."

Ricky smiled and said, "What a loser who only deserves to do that."

Cesare had no choice but to do what his wife told him. Cesare quickly walked out of the room and ignored Ricky's scornful gaze. He went straight to the pantry in the corner of the room.

Cesare made what his wife told him to make. He made a cup of coffee for Ricky. But at this moment, he heard the scorn of the people whispering but deliberately listening to Cesare.

"What a pity for him. Isn't he a husband? But look at him, he's just being used as a servant by his wife." The woman with heavy makeup started gossiping about herself. She occasionally looked at Cesare, then at her friend beside her.

The man in the blue shirt responded, "I saw Mr. Ricky come in earlier. Maybe she made coffee for Mr. Rikcy."

"But I would be ashamed to have a husband like that." The woman said back.

The scorn was clearly heard by Cesare, but he ignored it. But right now, he was distraught with Ricky. If only that man hadn't come, maybe Cesare wouldn't have bothered to make coffee for him.

Cesare immediately left the pantry and headed back to his room. But the moment he entered his room, his steps stopped when he saw something shocking.

His chest throbbed with pain as he watch

ed Ricky's hand touch Julie's chin. Even Julie had allowed it, and now, they were facing each other.
