The moment Miss Lind saw him, fury flashed in her eyes.

“You actually came back, you low-life scumbag!”

Dan recognized her at once. She was the woman he had accidentally bumped into earlier.

“That’s him!” the receptionist immediately cried out, pointing at Dan. “He’s just a pizza boy, but he still had the nerve to harass Miss Lind! He’s clearly asking for trouble!”

Dan frowned.

“It was an accident,” he said evenly. “I already apologized. And if necessary, I can apologize again.”

Inde let out a cold laugh. Her gaze swept over his shabby clothes, her contempt barely concealed.

“Apologize?” she sneered. “Do you think an apology is enough? A filthy man like you touched me. Just thinking about it makes me sick. You have to pay for that.”

Dan’s expression darkened.

At this point, this was no longer about the accident.

She simply wanted to humiliate him.

“Move,” Dan said coldly. “I’m leaving.”

“Leaving?” Inde stepped directly in front of him and sneered. “Do you really think you can just walk away after offending me?”

Dan looked at her calmly. “Then tell me. How do you want to settle this?”

Inde lifted her chin, her tone arrogant and commanding.

“Kneel down and lick my shoes. Do that, and I might let you go. Otherwise, I’ll have you sent straight to the police.”

The receptionist burst into a giggle when she heard that. “Really, Miss Lind? But wouldn’t that be rewarding him?”

Dan stood alone in the middle of the lobby. His face remained calm, but his eyes gradually turned colder.

These people were dressed in expensive clothes. They looked polished, elegant, and respectable. Yet inside, they were rotten to the core.

“What are you waiting for?” those guards barked. “Get on your knees!”

Dan slowly turned his gaze toward all those people.

He was poor. He had been looked down on more times than he could count. But that did not mean he had no dignity.

“Inde, what is going on here?” Suddenly, a stern voice came from behind Dan.

Everyone turned around at once.

Chris Hauser had just stepped out of the elevator.

Originally, he had wanted to personally see Dan out. After all, Dan was now the president of Harrington Group, and the assets under his name were worth trillions. As Dan’s subordinate, Chris naturally had to show proper respect.

But Dan had left too quickly, and Chris had missed the elevator. He had waited for the next one and hurried down after him.

He never expected that the moment he arrived in the lobby, he would see Dan surrounded by security guards.

Cold sweat instantly broke out across Chris’s back.

“Mr. Hauser?” Inde’s expression changed at once. “Why are you here?”

Chris ignored her question completely. He strode forward, his face dark.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

Before Inde could answer, the receptionist quickly stepped forward. “Mr. Hauser, this pizza boy harassed Miss Lind, so Miss Lind was just teaching him a lesson.”

As she spoke, she deliberately softened her voice, trying to sound innocent and pitiful.

“What?” Chris's voice dropped.

The next second, he pointed at her and roared, “You’re fired. Pack your things and leave immediately.”

The receptionist’s face went pale. “Mr. Hauser, I—”

“I said you’re fired!” Chris snapped. “Do I need to repeat myself?”

The receptionist froze on the spot, tears filling her eyes.

Chris did not even spare her another glance. He quickly turned to Dan and lowered his head respectfully.

“Sir, are you all right? This is all my fault. I should have followed you down sooner.”

“I’m fine,” Dan said calmly.

The entire lobby fell silent. Everyone stared at Dan in disbelief.

Sir?

The general manager of Harrington Group was actually speaking to this ragged-looking young man with such respect? How was that possible?

Inde’s eyes widened. “Mr. Hauser, what exactly is going on?”

“What do you think is going on?” Chris snapped, glaring at her. “This is Mr. Dan Bridgers, the new president of Harrington Group. How dare you call security on him?”

All color drained from Inde’s face. Her body stiffened.

The pizza boy she had just humiliated and ordered to lick her shoes was actually the new president of Harrington Group?

For a moment, her mind went completely blank. Then panic swallowed her.

She quickly turned to Dan and bowed deeply.

“Mr. Bridgers, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I was blind. I didn’t recognize you. Please forgive me.” Her voice trembled as she spoke.

Because her shirt had been stained with coffee earlier, Inde had changed into a low-cut blouse. As she bent forward, the neckline dipped lower, revealing the soft curve of her chest.

Dan’s eyes paused for half a second before he quickly looked away.

He had to admit, Inde was attractive. But that did not change what she had done.

Chris leaned closer and asked in a low voice, “Mr. Bridgers, how would you like to handle this?”

Inde’s face turned even paler when she heard that.

She hurried to Dan’s side, her voice anxious and pleading.

“Mr. Bridgers, please don’t fire me. I worked so hard to get where I am today. As long as you let me stay, I’ll do anything you ask.”

Harrington Group was one of the most powerful companies in the city. Countless people would do anything for a chance to work there.

Inde had spent years climbing her way up to department manager. Her salary was generous, her position was respectable, and her future had once looked bright.

If she lost this job, everything she had worked for would disappear.

“Anything I ask?” Dan raised an eyebrow.

Inde thought she had found an opening. She immediately stepped a little closer, her voice becoming softer and more suggestive.

“Yes. Anything!!”

Her mind was already racing. This young man was clearly no ordinary person. He was the president of Harrington Group at such a young age. If she could somehow get close to him, not only would she keep her current position, but her future might become even brighter.

Unfortunately, Dan had already seen right through her.

“All right,” he said calmly. “Starting tomorrow, you’ll work as a janitor here.”

“What?” Inde froze. Her face turned deathly pale.

Dan did not bother to explain.

After saying that, he turned and walked straight out of the building.

Chris stood beside him, his expression cold.

“Didn’t you hear Mr. Bridgers? Report to the cleaning department tomorrow. If you don’t want the job, you can resign any time.”

Inde stood rooted to the spot, her whole body trembling.

Only a few minutes ago, she had been standing above Dan, ordering him to kneel and lick her shoes.

Now, with a single sentence, he had reduced her from department manager to janitor.

And there was nothing she could do about it.

Dan left Harrington Financial Center without looking back.

After stepping out of the building, he took out the Zenith black card Chris had given him and looked at it again.

A card with no limit.

Even now, everything still felt unreal.

Just a few hours ago, he had still been worrying about rent and his next meal.

Now, he had suddenly become the owner of assets worth trillions.

Dan took a deep breath.

He decided to go to Zenith Bank and see whether this card was really as powerful as Chris had claimed.

Before long, he arrived at the entrance of Zenith Bank.

But just as he was about to step inside, a lively group of young men and women walked out of the bank and nearly bumped into him.

“Well, well. Look who it is. Our favorite pizza boy.”

“Who would’ve thought? Even a broke loser like you dares to come to Zenith Bank to withdraw money?”

That mocking voice was painfully familiar.

Dan looked up.

It was Caroline Hebert.

At that moment, Caroline was clinging affectionately to Ed Alsbury’s arm. Her face was full of disdain as her gaze swept over Dan’s delivery uniform.
