Outside Zenith Bank, Dan stood facing Caroline and Ed.
Caroline clung tightly to Ed’s arm, her face full of disdain. There was no trace of the warmth she had once shown Dan. Standing behind them was another person Dan recognized—Lucas Cameron, Caroline’s gay best friend. “Dan, heartbreak happens,” Lucas said awkwardly, as if trying to comfort him. “Don’t take it too hard.” He knew better than anyone how much Dan had given to that relationship, both emotionally and financially. “I’m fine,” Dan said with a faint smile. His calmness surprised everyone. What they did not know was that Dan was no longer the poor man Caroline had abandoned. He was now a trillionaire. When Caroline eventually found out the truth, would she regret what she had done? Dan did not bother explaining. Instead, he glanced at the three of them and asked, “What are you all doing at Zenith Bank?” “What else would we be doing at a bank?” Ed sneered. “Withdrawing money. What did you think? That we came here to deliver pizzas like you?” Caroline lifted her chin proudly. “Ed just withdrew ten thousand dollars so we can go shopping at Valmont Couture. That’s probably more money than you’ve ever seen in your entire life.” The smug happiness on her face was impossible to hide. Dan looked at the way she leaned against Ed, then gave a faint, cold smile. “You two look awfully close for people who just got together,” he said. “Caroline, there’s something I’ve been meaning to ask you. Were you already with Ed before we broke up?” Caroline’s expression changed slightly, but only for a moment. Then she let out a cold laugh. “So what if I cheated?” she said. “What can you do about it?” She looked him up and down, her voice growing sharper. “Dan, you’re pathetic. You couldn’t even afford the things I wanted. Do you know how embarrassing it was to be with you? You’re nothing but a loser.” Ed burst out laughing and pulled Caroline even closer. “Poor men don’t deserve love. Understand?” Then he turned to Caroline and said, “Come on, babe. Let’s go. There’s no need to waste any more time on a pizza boy.” Dan ignored their mockery. Without another word, he turned and walked straight toward Valmont Couture, which stood directly across the street from Zenith Bank. Ed, Caroline, and Lucas exchanged confused looks. A moment later, they quickly followed him. Valmont Couture was one of the most luxurious bespoke clothing stores in Harkins City. Even a simple accessory there could cost thousands of dollars. When Ed saw Dan heading straight for the entrance, he could not help shouting, “What the hell is he doing there? Can he even afford to step inside that place?” Caroline suddenly laughed. “Please. He’s probably going there for work. Maybe he delivers pizzas to them.” But when they entered Valmont Couture a few minutes later, the scene before them made everyone stop in their tracks. Dan was not there to deliver anything. He was standing in front of a full-length mirror while two sales assistants respectfully helped him try on a tailored suit. The dark fabric fit his shoulders perfectly, instantly sharpening his entire presence. Dan had always been good-looking, but years of exhaustion and cheap, ill-fitting clothes had buried that advantage. Now that he was dressed in something truly refined, his entire aura changed at once. Even his calm expression seemed to carry a different kind of weight. Caroline stared at him, momentarily unable to look away. For one brief second, the feelings she had once had for him seemed to surge back from three years ago. Ed noticed the change in her expression. His face darkened, and he cleared his throat uncomfortably. “Dan… you’re not here to make a delivery?” Dan glanced at them through the mirror and smiled faintly. “Why? Am I not allowed to buy clothes here?” Ed’s expression instantly turned ugly. He had followed Dan in because he wanted to see him humiliated. He had expected Dan to be stopped at the door, mocked by the staff, or mistaken for a delivery boy. Instead, Dan was being treated like a VIP. “You’re just pretending!” Caroline suddenly snapped back to her senses. She pointed at Dan with a trembling finger, her voice sharp and bitter. “How many years would you have to deliver pizzas to afford a suit like that?” Her voice grew louder, drawing the attention of the other customers in the boutique. “You’re so vain, Dan. I was right to break up with you!” The entire store gradually fell quiet. Customers and sales assistants alike turned toward the commotion. At the center of the boutique, Caroline stood with one hand raised, angrily pointing at Dan as if he had committed some unforgivable crime. But Dan did not look the slightest bit embarrassed. He stood calmly before the full-length mirror, wearing an elegant tailored suit that made him look nothing like the poor delivery boy she had mocked moments ago. Two sales assistants stood respectfully at his side, waiting for his next instruction. Caroline looked shrill, bitter, and completely out of control. Dan looked composed, refined, and untouchable. For a moment, everyone could see who was truly making a fool of themselves.Latest Chapter

Just as Ed was about to call the police, a voice suddenly interrupted him.“Excuse me, sir.”Everyone turned. The sales assistant who had been standing nearby finally stepped forward. There was a cautious look on her face as she approached Ed with the invoice in hand.“We will be closing soon,” she said politely. “May I ask how you would like to settle your order?”Her words fell like a hammer.Ed froze.Only then did he remember that he had ordered the exact same set as Dan.He stiffly took the invoice from the sales assistant. The moment his eyes landed on the total, his face changed.“Sixty… sixty thousand dollars?” His voice almost cracked.A chill ran down his spine. He only had the ten thousand dollars he had withdrawn earlier. There were a few thousand more on his card, but even all of it together was nowhere near sixty thousand. He looked up at the sales assistant, his lips twitching.“Did you make a mistake? How can a few pieces of clothing cost sixty thousand dollars?”The s

Dan remained completely unmoved by Caroline’s accusations. He simply glanced at the sales assistant beside him and said calmly, “Please pack this suit for me.”The sales assistant immediately nodded. “Yes, sir.”Then she turned to Caroline and the others. Her polite smile faded slightly, and her tone grew noticeably colder.“Ladies and gentlemen, if you’re here to shop, we’ll be happy to assist you. If not, please don’t disturb our other clients.”“You…” Caroline was so furious that her chest rose and fell sharply. She could not understand it.Just that morning, Dan had still been the broke pizza boy she had abandoned. He had been dirty, poor, and miserable. But now, only a few hours later, he was standing inside Valmont Couture, calmly trying on a suit that cost more than what most people made in months, or even years. What made her even angrier was that Dan barely looked at her.He simply adjusted his cuff in front of the mirror and said casually, “Caroline, this place clearly isn’t

The moment Miss Lind saw him, fury flashed in her eyes. “You actually came back, you low-life scumbag!” Dan recognized her at once. She was the woman he had accidentally bumped into earlier. “That’s him!” the receptionist immediately cried out, pointing at Dan. “He’s just a pizza boy, but he still had the nerve to harass Miss Lind! He’s clearly asking for trouble!” Dan frowned. “It was an accident,” he said evenly. “I already apologized. And if necessary, I can apologize again.” Inde let out a cold laugh. Her gaze swept over his shabby clothes, her contempt barely concealed. “Apologize?” she sneered. “Do you think an apology is enough? A filthy man like you touched me. Just thinking about it makes me sick. You have to pay for that.” Dan’s expression darkened. At this point, this was no longer about the accident. She simply wanted to humiliate him. “Move,” Dan said coldly. “I’m leaving.” “Leaving?” Inde stepped directly in front of him and sneered. “Do you really think you

“I’m the only heir?” Dan stared at Chris in disbelief. For a moment, he thought he had misheard him. Something this absurd only happened in TV dramas. How could it possibly happen to him?“Yes, Mr. Bridgers,” Chris said calmly. “Allow me to give you a brief introduction to the assets Mr. Gosling left behind.”As he spoke, Chris picked up a document from his desk and placed it in front of Dan.“Among the listed companies alone, there are Harrington Group, Zephyr Corporation, Evergreen Pharmaceuticals, and several other major corporations in Harkins City…”Chris pointed at the document as he explained each asset one by one.At first, Dan tried to listen carefully. But the more he listened, the more unreal everything felt.Companies, properties, bank accounts, investment funds…The list seemed endless. Finally, Dan could not hold back anymore.“Wait a second,” he interrupted. “Are you saying all of this belongs to me now?”“Absolutely,” Chris replied with a slight nod.“Then… how much is

Dan arrived at the lobby of Harrington Financial Center. The moment he stepped out of the cab, he felt as if he had entered another world.Outside the building, the parking lot was packed with luxury cars. Men and women in tailored suits walked in and out with confident strides, their watches gleaming, their leather shoes spotless.Compared with them, Dan, in his worn-out clothes, looked completely out of place. Before he could even reach the front desk, a young receptionist in a fitted black business suit looked up and frowned.“Hey, you!” she said sharply. “Delivery boys aren’t allowed past the lobby.”Dan’s brows tightened. “I’m not here to deliver pizza.”“Then what are you here for?” she asked coldly. “This isn’t the kind of place where a pizza boy can just wander around.”“I’m here to see someone,” Dan said. The receptionist stared at him for a second, then let out a short laugh.“See someone?” Her voice was full of mockery. “Everyone who works in this building is extremely impo
