At the other moment, that was when somebody shouted at Derek with brutal force, the voice cutting through the air like a whip crack.

"Keep your mouth shut, you crazy boy! Do you think we are here to literally listen to your crying?" The words were harsh, aggressive, filled with the kind of casual violence that suggested this person had no qualms about inflicting more pain to get silence.

The shout echoed across the abandoned tennis court, bouncing off the deteriorating fencing and creating an eerie effect that made the threat seem to come from everywhere at once.
