The Prodigy's Return

CHAPTER 2

Jack walked into the grocery store to pick up a few items. His ears pickes up on the sound of camera flashes flying around. 

It was in that moment he realizes that the paparazzi were filming him. Jack was irritated because he did not like attention from the media.

As he picked up his item and was walking out of the grocery store, one of the paparazzi rushed over to him with a small microphone.

"Sorry to bother you sir. How does it feel to have lost out on the biggest actress of our generation." He turned around to look at the camera man with surprise on his face.

"Can you just back off. I don't like the question and I am not going to make any comment." Jack replied and stormed off in anger. 

As he arrived at his hotel, he stumbled upon Ava and her new husband Mike Doom holding hands by the entrance. 

The paparazzi photos kept coming harder on their faces but Jack did not care enough. In his mind they were no more. "Jack?" 

He paused in his track and turned around to face Ava, who has a smirk on her face. "What in the world are you doing here?" She asked.

"What is it to you?" Jack replied in a harsh tone.

"Aww, some body is still angry over our divorce," Both Ava and Mile begins to laugh.

Meanwhile Jack knew the narrative that would be pushed by the media about him and decides to walk inside.

"I hope you get your cleaning job." Ava said out loud as Jack reached the door. "You can fix your life with it." 

Jack could not believe that Ava thought of him in such low and unfavourable manner. "Just because she is dating Mike, she thinks she an start talking too much? I am going to deal with her in my own way." Jack said to himself as he walked into the room.

His phone begins to ring and it turns out to be his personal assistant on the phone. "Please tell me you have gotten a new prospect for that movie role coming up." Jack pleaded after he had picked the call.

"I am sorry sir but there is literally no one that can perform that role,.." He paused "Except for Ava of course." 

"Don't.." He warned in a low tone which caused his personal assistant to kep quiet for a brief second. "I don't want you to talk about her again."

In Jack's mind Ava was past tense and nothing is changing his perspective about it.

"Keep searching and postpone the date for the casting." Jack instructed and hung up his phone.

Checking his watch Jack figured the evening was the perfect time to have fun at a bar. He changed into something casual and simple and head out of the hotel.

When he arrived at the bar, there was a lot of people present and Jack was happy that he wasn't the centre of attention. "You monster!" 

He tore his gaze away from his drink to a scene happening in front of him. Jack gasped in shock as a young lady connects her fist to another man's chin

"Next time you will learn never to be a pervert." She expressed and returned back to her sit.

Jack followed her every movement and it almost felt like in that moment everything else was non existent.

This is what he has been searching. A woman with a badass attitude with audible vocals. 

Jack grabbed his drink and stood up from his table to meet with the young lady. “Hey” He said, taking his sit by the young lady, who appeared to be letting off steam from the fight.

“What do you want?” She asked with a scowl on her face.

“I came here to admit that you are a really good fighter” Jack complimented as he placed his drink on the table and focused his attention on her.

“Thanks for the compliment but I am not in the mood for anyone flirting with me” She said and picked up her drink to have a long sip.

“I am not here for that” Jack replied and leaned closer “How would you like to be paid a huge amount of money and a big mansion to act the same way you did with the man earlier” He asked.

“Wait, are you talking about the fight?” She asked.

“Indeed. If you execute the role perfectly you will become a global sensation” Jack revealed, watching her eyes.

“But,.I don’t even know you” She fold her arms suspiciously and eyed him. “How am I sure this is not one of your ways as men to get underneath someone’s skirt?” She asked.

“Because I am not one of them. My name is Jack Anthony and I am the head of Works Movie production” 

The young lady looked at him for a moment and Jack could tell that she was having doubts. He pulled out his card and hands it over to her. “Maybe this should convince you” He said as she gazed at the business card for a long time.

“I don’t know what to say.” She said, completely overwhelmed “So this means you hired Ava Holmes to act in one of the most talked about movies in this town?” She asked.

Jack paused for a moment. He was wondering if it was appropriate to expose his true identity to her, but it was better than loosing such an immense talent. “Ava and I used to be partners”

“Wait a minute, are you the man she broke up with?” She asked in disbelief.

“Yes, but it is all in the past now. I want to make you a global star, I will reward you and rise you up to the same level as Ava” He reclined back on his chair. 

“Are you in or are you out?” He asked with a smile on his face.

“Uhmm,..Can I be given time to think about it?” She asked.

“Sure, just don’t make it too late” 

Jack pulled out a pen and write his number down on a piece of paper and hands it over to her. “That is my number, you can call me when you want” He said.

“My name is Monalisa” She replied with a smile after collecting the number.

“Well Monalisa, it is nice to see you”
