Inside an opulent conference room were gathered men of distinguished caliber. There was a holographic display outlined on the wall facing the group.

Amongst these men was the President. He was stoic and had a solemn face. Around him were his senior officials.

Everyone of them seemed to be eagerly awaiting the arrival of someone very important.

The door of the conference hall opened eventually as Irwin Buckham walked in, escorted by some refined men dressed in black suits.

"Attention!" An order shot amongst the senior officials at the presence of Irwin.

All the distinguished men of incredible status saluted Irwin, stomping their feet in a heartfelt honor. The President leading the salute.

"We are grateful for your service to this nation, Sir Irwin!" They all chorused. "Your faithful years of service will forever be remembered and honored."

Then they eased themselves as Irwin nodded back at them.

The President immediately stepped forward with a handshake,

"Words cannot describe how grateful we are for your service, Sir Irwin." The President sounded very humble as he addressed him. "That is why we are awarding you with this token of appreciation." The President beckoned.

At the beckon, a reputable officer presented a tray of badge to the President.

"This badge is the rank of a Five-Star General." The President bestowed it on Irwin. "It fails in rewarding your loyal service to this country for years."

Irwin took a glance at the badge and smiled. At last, he has completed his duty and could now live freely.

"Thank you, Mr President." Irwin shook hands with the President. "It was an honor."

"The honor is ours." The President smiled back.

After this, the President signaled the officials and they left. Irwin was left alone with the President.

"There is one more mission that I want to entrust to you." The President stated.

"Wasn't that the last mission?" Irwin felt cornered in a way.

"I promise you, Sir Irwin. This is the last mission." The President assured. "There is no one that can do the job as perfectly as you can."

The President was right. Except Irwin, there was no one else in the continent that could seamlessly carry out delicate and top-tier missions.

"I want you to investigate a certain person." The President started. "The details of this person can be found in this file."

Irwin collected the file and opened it. As he took a glance through its content, his eyes squinted.

"And due to the nature of the mission, I hereby grant you the S-class clearance."

"S-class? That's the highest clearance." Irwin was surprised. "Doesn't that make me almost equal with you?"

"This is to ensure the success of the mission. You can mobilize any resources you want. All is at your disposal." The President added.

"Very well, then." Irwin saluted,"I won’t fail my mission!"

He pushed open the door, and a young, beautiful woman had long been waiting inside.

"Sign this, Irvin." She pushed some papers towards Irwin Buckham.

Her name was Jessica Nolan and she was the personal secretary of the young and rising heiress of the Rolan Group, Isabella Rolan.

"What is this?" Irwin asked barely moving.

"You are not blind, Irwin. Check it out." Jessica retorted coldly.

Checking the papers, he saw that it was a divorce agreement.

"Did Isabella send you with this? Where is she?" Irwin asked, surprised and stunned.

"Miss Isabella is a very busy woman. Her time shouldn’t be wasted on a nobody like you." Jessica said sharply. "Now sign this and don't drag it out."

"If Isabella wants divorce, she should say it to my face, instead of sending you." His gaze was sharp, and his voice firm, “I won’t sign a single word until she arrives.”

“Don’t get so worked up. Maybe you should read the agreement first. Ms. Isabella has promised you a $5 million settlement. With that money, you won’t have to lift a finger—you can live your life comfortably,” Jessica advised softly. “So why fight against money?”

“Five million? That’s certainly generous, but I don’t need it.” Irwin tore up the agreement and threw it on the floor without even glancing at it. “I’m sticking to what I said—unless she comes herself, I won’t sign a single word!”

“You! You’re impossible!” Jessica’s eyes blazed with anger. “Who do you think you are? After following our boss for years, you’ve gotten completely full of yourself? You’re a worthless parasite, a stain on Ms. Isabella!”

“Our boss must have been blind to—”

Just as Jessica was about to lose her temper completely, a stunningly elegant beauty appeared. Her steps were measured, her presence regal, exuding an untouchable coldness. She was Isabella Rolan, Irwin’s wife.

“I’ll handle this,” Isabella said with finality, then sat down in front of Irwin, her expression icy. “As you wished. You may sign now.”

In that instant, Irwin’s heart shattered.

"Goodness." Gamaliel exclaimed at the sight of such randomness. He wasn't prepared for it, so he wasn't sure of what to expect. At first, all he could see was the back side of the people because a great deal of them were returning into the city. Few who were coming out of the city were male figures. Apparently, he wouldn't want to look at the sensitive areas of his fellow gender. That would be weird and irritational. Suddenly, one of the women whose back view already provoked a stimulus reaction throughout his body, turned around to talk to one of the men. His eyes instantly drifted to the areas of her body that sent every of his body into a wave of heat swamp. His lower area bulged as an effect and he didn't know how to feel. He instantly looked away from it. He had a woman. It was inappropriate for him to be looking at other women like that. Even if he had power over his own will and could do whatever he chose, yet there was moral expectations. Looking away, his gaze shifted to

"What is this?" Gamaliel was at loss for what regarding what was playing out right in front of him. It was something that he couldn't have predicted. He could still tell that they were inside the room, likewise were they in the ocean. Although the water level was rising in the room, he didn't feel like he was inside the water. Also, the walls and furniture in the room weren't wet."How can this be?" Gamaliel held on to the question, willing to get an answer from Edward. He rose to his feet and started to pace. He wanted to judge whether or not it was because he was sitting. Perhaps if he were to walk around, there might be a shift in reality. Yet no matter how much he labored in getting a contrary experience, the reality remained stagnant. "That's the wrong question." Edward said casually. "We shouldn't get carried away by things like this. There is much more to be occupied with.""This is trivial?" Gamaliel asked, turning to look at Edward. If he didn't know better, he probably wo

"The elect." Edward answered that almost all of a sudden. Edward was much more eager to do carryout the instructions of the Father other than dwelling on the things he had just done. Gamaliel couldn't understand something either. People whom he knew would relish in the thought of what they had done. Especially whenever they had ended up killing people or achieving a feat that none other could. The aftereffects of this feat usually made them react in a way. Inclusive of himself. The ego is puffed and there was a way they looked at themselves. It was something that anyone would prune. On the other hand, Edward seemed unbothered by it. Like it was his second nature. If he wasn't moved by something like this, then what in the world could be able to bring out his most shocking reaction? Gamaliel didn't know what to think. "The elect?" He asked as though he had just snapped out of his own thoughts. "Yes, the elect." Edward replied. "Who is an elect?" Gamaliel asked, dwelling on the p

"What---" Rowan wasn't sure of what else to say to complete that sentence. He was at loss for words. He wasn't the only person who was caught between those claws of confusion. Photel and the rest were equally stunned. Elder on the other hand was the most clueless. "What just happened?" Egan, who had been quiet all along couldn't hold back anymore. Just like everyone, he had watched how Elder had tried to disprove what Edward had just done. Although he didn't understand what Edward did either, yet he couldn't deny what he had seen. Elder acting that way was rather thoughtless and a result of pride. "Can you explain to us what happened?" Egan came to a halt right in front of Edward.Elder didn't know how to take this. He didn't want to look pitiful either. He retained the solemn look on his face. It was rather a task to keep up such an act even though things have taken another turn. "The business of demons is quite a delicate matter." Edward began to explain. "The will of the soul

  • Chapter 314

As the order shot from Edward, it would seem as though his voice was a siren, or a blast of waves crashing against a rock. It was so powerful, effective and chaotic. The guns which the soldiers were about to cock sudden became disassembled and dropped from their hands as though they were disarmed by some supernatural force. They all dropped on their knees in the same choreographed manner and raised their heads towards the sky. All their mouths became wide opened and a scream shot forth from them. The pitch and depth of their scream was more of a roar. It was eerie, dark and very much powerful. It could be compared to when a nuke was deployed into a land, whose explosion lasted for at three hours. Black fog of varying shapes started to float out of the nostrils and several body parts of the soldiers as the scream went on. They were being rid of some force that had hijacked their body system from them. They quaked so violently that the scream or roar looked like it could rip their

"All ten thousand of them?" Elder exclaimed, able to judge the severity and urgency of the situation from the reaction of Photel. Rowan already wasn't the type of person to be scared by things like this, but to speak of Photel? Photel was obviously shaken by whatever it was that was happening outside. The banging became even much more heavy and fiesty. Judging by the weight and the manner at which the door was being hit, it was only a matter of moment before the door might cave in or even cave in. There was a kind of noise they were making. This didn't sound like the sound of soldiers who had been given the order to wipe out a civilization. Instead, the sound of their voices were ominous and eerie. "What are we going to do?" Rowan asked, risking his life as he pressed his back to the door. Even if the door would be broken down, he wanted to be first person to be killed. It would be such an honor for him to fall down first in the group of distinguished and powerful men like this.
