"I'm not here to argue, Irwin. So, let's not drag this out." Isabella said, setting the papers down again.
Her facial expression was stern. It was an easy guess that she had made up her mind. Irwin had asked that she come because he wanted to see at least an iota of affection left in her, but this young woman was as icy as an icicle. She brought out a cheque and scribbled on it for a moment before sliding it towards Irwin. "That's a five million dollars cheque." Isabella said. "That's enough compensation for being a house husband." "So, you think this is about money?" Irwin's first words to her were sharp and emotional. "You don't have to gaslight me, Irwin." She replied coldly. "We are world's apart and you know that." Her words cut into Irwin's heart like a dagger. He couldn't believe that he has slaved his life away for this woman for three years. "This marriage has been nothing but a trouble." She continued. "I've never for once benefited anything from you. You have no value to my career path. You only want to clean and do the dishes while I want to climb the world. We don't align in ideologies." She paused. "I tried to ignore all these for a while but now, I can't help it anymore." There was finality in her tone. "You are now a convict. Not only can you not help my career, but with your current status, you will only drag me down." She heaved a sigh. "It is better to part ways than be an inconvenience to each other." She added. Irwin just couldn't come to stomach everything that she had said. He couldn't believe that the sacrifice that he had done for their marriage was ordinary 'cleaning duties' to her. It was in that moment that for the first time he saw himself clearly through her eyes. To her, he was a useless janitor. How sad. Earlier, he had asked to see her because he thought she was mistaking, but right now, he has seen enough. He pulled the papers closer and signed them. "I don't need your money." He tossed the cheque back at her. Isabella was surprised that he would refuse such a whooping sum of money. "Return the pendant I gave to you. That's all I need." He added firmly. "It's my family heirloom and belongs to a family, not someone like you." His eyes were cold as he stared into hers. "From now on, we go our separate ways!" After that, he stood up and walked away. "On my next visit, I'll bring back the pendant." She called at him. Feeling slightly guilty that Irwin would not take any money from her, "I am open to any other terms that you may add tomorrow." She added to ease her guilt. After this, she turned and left. Outside the prison, she saw her secretary waiting by the car as she approached. "Do you think I'm making the right decision by divorcing Irwin?" Isabella asked, still unable to totally get rid of the guilt. "Of course, you are." Jessica snapped. "No one in their right mind will want to be associated with a deadbeat like Irwin. You were in fact too generous to keep him for this long. Henceforth, you will be a global phenomenon with no convict dragging you down." Isabella nodded, finding reassurance in the words of her secretary. Irwin had stopped in his tracks and watched her back as she walked away. He was still staring as though he could still see her. A bitter smile tugged at his lower lip. In truth, he was in prison to carry out a secret mission. Bound by orders, he could not tell her the truth. He had thought that after all their years together, she would believe in his character. But clearly, he had overestimated his place in her heart. Hardly had he taken a few steps when a stunning lady with enchanting features rushed up to him. Although warm and polite, there was an air of curiosity about her.. “It’s great to finally meet you, sir.” She had a warm smile, reaching out her palm. "Who are you?" Irwin asked, ignoring the gesture. "I’m here to pick you." The lady replied warmly. “My father sent me.” She was Bethany Colwill, the only child of the renowned John Colwill, the wild rich eagle, and the subordinate of Irwin. She was also the current CEO of Rathclif Groups. Her father had only told her that Irwin was an important person, but didn’t go into the details. Upon arrival, she had thought that she would meet an elderly man about the age of her father, but seeing how young Irwin, she was indeed moved. This made her curiosity about him even more keen. The way her father had talked about him was elevating. "Who is your father?." Irwin asked sternly, "And you haven’t answered my initial question.” Seeing that Irwin was truly the person he was said to be, Bethany tightened up. She couldn’t afford to offend a man her father hold in high regard "My name is Bethany Colwill. CEO of Rathclif." She answered. "Colwill?" The name rang a note in Irwin's mind. "Do you mean John?" "Yes, John is my father." She replied, glad that Irwin remembered her father. “And he sent me to come pick you.”Latest Chapter
Chapter 164
Dowan has a good memory. This had helped him a lot when he was learning coding and several other tech skills that had brought him this far. Although he could meet a person just now, whenever he sees them in a period of time, he could remember them. But this mostly work for sounds than images, especially when it comes to humans. This voice sounded like someone whom he had met not long ago and he was right as he turned to see the young man who had dissed him just now at the vending machine. "You." Dowan muttered, very certain that this obviously wasn't what he wanted to say, but he needed to clear his head first and get his bearing. He needed to understand why anyone in their right mind would suddenly jump at him and snatch his phone for no reason. He had a cool, but this could never be accepted, not even by the self-accreditted meekest person in the world, Moses. "What do you think you are doing?" Dowan was trying not to explode or flare up. "Have you lost your mind?"Earlier he wa
Chapter 163
News soon spread out and everyone was wondering what had just happened. No one could tell what this was about or how it had come to be, yet the strength of the news could be found on the wings of the winds."Did you also hear about it?" One of the many students gathered in the cafeteria on the school campus argued. "I thought it was a joke. Who could have ever imagined any iota of truth in that?" "But it had dawned on us as the truth. How can this be? What in the world?!" A pretty red-haired lady wondered. Dowan was one of the people who had just strolled into the cafeteria and could hear the students clamoring over something. At first, he didn't want to bother about it. He was once a student and he knew that every new week, students had something to gossip about. He thought perhaps this was one of those many areas of gossips. But when he stopped for a moment at the vending machine and looked around seeing all the students in batches, discussing the same thing. He didn't think he
Chapter 162
Irwin turned away from the strange young lady, who was sitting on the chair in front of him, to Bethany, who now has a smile on her face. Just about a moment ago, Bethany's face held an expression that was harder than a nut or a raisin, too hard to be cracked even by the most rugged part of a rock. Seeing her smile when he had asked a question didn't provoke anger or any hostile emotion. Instead, it struck something urgent inside of him. "Did she leave already or go to the restroom?" Irwin asked again. Without waiting to get a reply from Bethany, he turned back to the strange young lady with warm, elegant features. "Are you related to her?" Irwin asked the young lady, his eyes randomly straying to the pair of simple shoes she wore. Seeing the shoes the young lady wore, it struck a sudden memory in his mind, and his eyes widened as he looked back at her. By the time he looked at the young lady again, there were fresh tears rolling down her face. Her eyes were watery, and there w
Chapter 161
Irwin Buckham walked into Perfect Glow. The lobby was relatively small but the interior was heavily invested in to communicate the wealth of its affluence. He looked around for a moment, trying to figure out perhaps he would see whom he was looking for. But when it was to no avail, he decided to approach the receptionist. You would think that now that he was the owner of the Oscow Consortium that everyone would recognize his identity. But he had put it upon himself not to go public yet. Also, he had made sure to stress to his workers that whoever dared to release his image, or sell to some top clients for the purpose of favor currying, not only would they be sacked, but they would be heavily disciplined. Having a fore knowledge of his real identity, no one would ever want to dispute with his order let alone have the guts to want to break the order. They knew their places. "Hello, handsome sir. Who are you looking for?" The blonde receptionist asked with a bright smile. "Bethany C

"Huh?" Isabella's eyes were too reluctant to move from this man to whatever it was that he had placed on the table. She wished she understood what was happening right now but she just couldn't come to process it. It would make sense if it was coming from a beggar or receptionist. But from someone who control the business scope of the consortium? The calm, respect, composure, demeanor. Everything screamed awe. What in the world was happening? Were there truly people who are like doves occupying positions meant for wolves? She started reviewing her own life. How high and mighty she had made herself seem whenever she was meeting with someone lesser than herself. Rolan Group, even at its peak could never cut a one percent deal with Oscow, let alone now that they were in the ruins. But the leader of this top consortium could be this humble? How uncomfortably admirable! She thought. "This is a blank cheque." Edward continued, placing a pen next to it. His words suddenly knocked her out
Chapter 159
Jessica and Isabella were waiting in an exclusive area in Oscow Consortium known at the private office. Jessica has been looking around the office, checking out the interior design. The intricacies were something to reckon with. She wished she knew a little about designs and their intricacies. Perhaps she would be able to appreciate this beauty a little bit more. Suddenly, she recalled that there was someone known to be obsessed with designs and patterns. "This place looks so nice." Jessica was final vocal about her thoughts as she turned to Isabella. When she took a glance at Isabella, it would seem as though she had taken the hobby of Isabella. On a normal day, it was Isabella that ought to be swept off her feet by these details. Isabella on the other hand seemed to be staring at her phone as though she could make something come out of it. "Calm down." Jessica chimed in. "We are here already. They know we are here and are waiting for them.""I know, Jessica. I know." Isabella
