As soon as the security officials spotted Bethany, they bowed respectfully to her,

"Boss." They chorused. "We didn't know that you were around--"

"Out of my face, you fools!" She snapped, hardly taking a glance at them. Her attention was on Irwin.

Irwin Buckham was an important guest of her father whom he entrusted to her. How would her father feel if he hears that someone tried to disrespect his guest? Bethany couldn't allow this.

"What gives you the temerity to harass him?" Bethany demanded, casting a cold glance at Dorathy.

Dorathy was stunned speechless by the figure of Bethany. If beauty could be quantified as water, if her daughter was a pond, Bethany was the Atlantic.

Not only was Bethany breathtaking and beautiful, everything she wore screamed class and refined status. She immediately felt intimidated at the presence of Bethany.

"Why are you suddenly quiet?" Bethany demanded. "Do you have nothing to say?"

Her gaze shifted from Dorathy to James who was equally swooned with the elegance and beauty of Bethany.

Judging by the scary men who accompanied Bethany, Dorathy couldn't help but wonder how Irwin was connected to such a powerful and high-class lady.

She almost knew that herself and James were no match for them. Instantly, she forced a smile, feigning a warm demeanor.

"Harass him?" Dorathy exclaimed. "This was nothing but a misunderstanding."

She quickly removed the necklace from her neck,

"In fact, here is the necklace, Irwin." She handed the necklace over. "Take it. After all, it's yours." A smile tugged helplessly at her lower lips.

“Are you crazy?” James yelled at her. “Didn’t you hear him say this is a family heirloom? It’s really valuable!”

“If we have this, we can —”

Dorathy quickly slapped her palm over the lips of James to shut him up before he would say what he shouldn't and put them in more trouble.

She turned to Bethany with a forced smile,

“Don’t listen to him, he’s just a kid and doesn’t know any better. He’s talking nonsense.” Dorathy apologized.

“What!” James roared. “Who is a kid? Are you that scared of this nobody? Infact…”

He moved forward quickly and snatched the necklace. He smashed it really hard on the floor, watching as the pendant break with a maniac smile.

“If we can’t have it, neither can he!” James swore.

Irwin was hit by a wave of shock. He froze on the spot. This necklace was the only keepsake his mother had left him. This was what by which he carried the love of his mother around.

Watching its pieces on the floor shattered his heart. He crouched, picking the shattered pieces of the necklace with trembling hands.

Seeing what had just happened, the bodyguards of Bethany rushed forward and grabbed both Dorathy and James, pinning them to the ground.

"Get your filthy hands off me right now!" James barked. "I'm giving you a last warning!" He swore kicking with all his might.

But these bodyguards were seasoned men trained especially for this job!

"Do you know who I am?" James continued yelling. "My sister is the heiress of the Rolan Group! Do you dare to cross me?!"

"My future brother-in-law is Danny Ceballos! The heir of the mighty Ceballos family!" James yelled. “Who dares touch me? I’ll make sure they regret it!”

Following his claims, Irwin paused mid-motion, holding back his horses. But Bethany on the other hand was a loose cannon.

She moved closer and shoved her shoe into the face of James, making him spin over. Her face is as icy as an iceberg.

“Those two ‘backers’ of yours aren’t even fit to carry my shoes! Even if I cripple you today, they wouldn’t dare utter a word!” She blared.

Seeing that the matter was getting out of hand, and that Bethany was truly someone whom she feared her to be, Dorathy was scared witless,

"Please spare James, Irwin." She pleaded loudly. “No matter what, we were once family. James is still young"

"Just let him off this time.” Dorathy begged, clasping her palms together.

James was immediately irritated by the cowardice of his mother. How would his mother beg a nobody like Irwin? Irwin Buckham?!

"What is this embarrassment?!" He yelled at his mother. "Isn't this a useless convict? Why are you begging him?”

"Enough, James. Don't push your luck." Dorathy was trying to get him to be quiet.

"Enough, mother. How could you do that in front of a piece of trash like Irwin?!” He was pissed off.

His eyes were red like embers as he turned to Bethany.

"Who do you say you are?" He yelled. "Do you think loud words are enough to survive in this city? Your pretty face will be ruined by Danny! Not even you hungry bodyguards will be able to save you from his wrath." He spat.

"I dare you to hit me again! Your hands will be cut off! You will be llucky to survive this night in this city! Danny will make sure of it! Yes, my brother-in-law wil---"

Thwack! Suddenly a daze swept across the face of James and he couldn't find his voice anymore. At one point, it felt like he was deaf.

It was the look of shock on his face and the heat burning on his cheeks that made him realise that he had just been slapped.

Slapped by who, his eyes sought actively. But there was only one person standing in his face and it was none other than Irwin.

"You!!!" James choked on the words. "You dared to slap me?!!!"

“That’s for your sister—for failing to discipline you! So young, yet already lying, bullying, and throwing your weight around! For old times’ sake, I’ll let you off this once. But if I ever see you again, I won’t hold back!”

After those words, Irwin turned around and left. Bethany hurrying up after him.

James felt a chill he had never felt before just staring at Irwin. For a moment, he almost doubted that this wasn't the loser Irwin that used to marry his sister.

But that can't be right. Irwin was still a loser after all. He was just putting up a front because of this lady! How can he ever admit defeat to a loser like Irwin?!

James regained his confidence again, yelling and roaring as they left,

“You useless ex-con! Acting tough, huh? Don’t run—fight me if you’ve got the guts!”

Dowan has a good memory. This had helped him a lot when he was learning coding and several other tech skills that had brought him this far. Although he could meet a person just now, whenever he sees them in a period of time, he could remember them. But this mostly work for sounds than images, especially when it comes to humans. This voice sounded like someone whom he had met not long ago and he was right as he turned to see the young man who had dissed him just now at the vending machine. "You." Dowan muttered, very certain that this obviously wasn't what he wanted to say, but he needed to clear his head first and get his bearing. He needed to understand why anyone in their right mind would suddenly jump at him and snatch his phone for no reason. He had a cool, but this could never be accepted, not even by the self-accreditted meekest person in the world, Moses. "What do you think you are doing?" Dowan was trying not to explode or flare up. "Have you lost your mind?"Earlier he wa

News soon spread out and everyone was wondering what had just happened. No one could tell what this was about or how it had come to be, yet the strength of the news could be found on the wings of the winds."Did you also hear about it?" One of the many students gathered in the cafeteria on the school campus argued. "I thought it was a joke. Who could have ever imagined any iota of truth in that?" "But it had dawned on us as the truth. How can this be? What in the world?!" A pretty red-haired lady wondered. Dowan was one of the people who had just strolled into the cafeteria and could hear the students clamoring over something. At first, he didn't want to bother about it. He was once a student and he knew that every new week, students had something to gossip about. He thought perhaps this was one of those many areas of gossips. But when he stopped for a moment at the vending machine and looked around seeing all the students in batches, discussing the same thing. He didn't think he

Irwin turned away from the strange young lady, who was sitting on the chair in front of him, to Bethany, who now has a smile on her face. Just about a moment ago, Bethany's face held an expression that was harder than a nut or a raisin, too hard to be cracked even by the most rugged part of a rock. Seeing her smile when he had asked a question didn't provoke anger or any hostile emotion. Instead, it struck something urgent inside of him. "Did she leave already or go to the restroom?" Irwin asked again. Without waiting to get a reply from Bethany, he turned back to the strange young lady with warm, elegant features. "Are you related to her?" Irwin asked the young lady, his eyes randomly straying to the pair of simple shoes she wore. Seeing the shoes the young lady wore, it struck a sudden memory in his mind, and his eyes widened as he looked back at her. By the time he looked at the young lady again, there were fresh tears rolling down her face. Her eyes were watery, and there w
