Alessandro and Rhys were surrounded by bodyguards as they stepped out of the car, at first glance, Rhys could tell that it was a top class hospital, and they got bodyguards to accompany them thanks to Alessandro’s identity, no one was willing to bear the risks but Alessandro himself who simply drove an expensive car without guards or a driver.

A group of doctor stepped out of the main entrance and lined on both sides to welcome the pair. “Mr Alessandro, what brings you here?” All of the doctors on the sides looked fidgety, knowing that a big shot had showed up but one doctor simply strolled out to meet Alessandro with a calm expression, he was even wearing a smile on his face.

“Do I have to repeat myself Damian, the same procedures obviously.” Alessandro pulled Rhys forward, as he walked up to him.

“Again?” The doctor mentally facepalmed. This wasn’t the first time his friend was showing up at his hospital; every time he appeared in the hospital, it was all for the same reason.

“Yes. Hurry up, Lydia is expecting me.” He urged the doctor.

Upon hearing the name, Doctor Damian ushered the pain inside. With a flick of his wrist, the rest of the doctors and bodyguards dispersed, only Doctor Damian, accompanied by Alessandro and Rhys entered a private elevator. “Hello, my name is Doctor Damian.” The doctor smiled at Rhys.

He nodded in response, he took a liking to the man who had a cheerful smile on his face. “I’m Rhys.”

“I’m sure you know why you’re here.”

“This man here keeps insisting that I might be his son.” Rhys gestured towards Mr Alessandro.

“Trust me, that has happened too many times to count. I have you have no issues with having a DNA test performed?”

“Of course he agreed Damian, why else would I bring him here?”

“I have to get his consent, considering what happened the last time.” Dr Damian gave Alessandro a meaningful look which told a lot.

Rhys looked back and forth at the two of them. “What are you talking about?”

“Its nothing you should be bothered about Rhys.” The elevator stopped the door slid open, revealing a deserted floor with bodyguards stationed in every corner. Rhys saw some cameras in some inauspicious corners. Mr Damian led them to his office. “How old are you Rhys?” He inquired as soon as they settled in the office.

“I would be twenty six this year.” He answered calmly. Doctor Damian asked a few more medical related questions as he drew blood from Rhys arm. Alessandro sat in a corner, tapping his fingers on a desk, his focus on the phone as he goes through some work related stuff.

As soon as Doctor Damian left, silence filled the office. He curiously looked around, he didn’t have much hopes but one part of him still wished that the test results returned positive. The silence was uncomfortable, he was forced to say something. “How many times have you done this?”

“Thirty.” Mr Alessandro did not raise his head from what he was reading.

Rhys couldn’t hide the surprise anymore. “So you mean, you keep taking random people off the streets assuming that it is your son?”

“Yes. I have no other choice.”

“And what would you do if you’re wrong once again?”

Alessandro raised his head, staring at Rhys deeply. “You have her eyes, I can’t be wrong this time.”

Silence permeated the room once again, Rhys was left to his thoughts at they both patiently waited for the Doctor’s return. They didn’t have to wait for too long as soon, Doctor Damian returned with a gloomy look.

“What happened?” Rhys inquired.

“The same huh?” Alessandro let out a sigh, there was disappointment in his eyes.

Doctor Damian suddenly smiled. “The results are back, there is a nighty eight percent chance that he is your son, old friend.”

Total silence. Even if a pin was dropped, it could be clearly heard by everyone. Everything was like slow motion to Rhys, Doctor Damian sat on his chair, he took a bottle of champagne from underneath his desk and three glasses. The sound of the champagne popping broke the silence.

“Oh come on Alessandro, hug your child so we can celebrate!” Damian filled the three glasses. “ Come to think of it, I’m responsible for finding the heir of the Fernandez family, maybe in return, your family can fund my hospital.”

Rhys slowly got to his feet, the doctor’s words replaying in his mind. “You are my father?” Even though he was wistfully thinking, he never actually assumed that he would end up being Alessandro’s son.

Alessandro stood up, tears rolled down his face, “Yes, I’m your father.” Taking the first step, he goes to hug the stunned Rhys. “You are my son, you are my Lucius. I’ve finally found you.”

Rhys felt a warmth in his chest, tears began to roll down his cheeks without his notice. His childhood dream was finally coming true, he never really investigated his family but he still longed for one, a place to call home, a place where he was accepted irrespective of what he does and now…

… he had found such a place.

He had found his father.

He had a home, and a loving family; that he could tell from the efforts Alessandro put in searching for him.

“Just imagine the heir of the Fernandez family as the ambassador of my hospital?” Damian sipped his champagne, a quirky smile on his face as he imagined something in his head.

Champagne being splashed on him suddenly broke him out if his reverie. Alessandro was holding and empty glass, he was obviously the culprit as Rhys was still staring at Alessandro while holding his glass.

“Snap out of it! My son would not be the ambassador of your hospital.”

“Says who?” Damian challenged him.

“Why don’t you bring it up with my father?”

“I’d rather not.” Damian shuddered.
