Chapter 3. First Memories of Stage One Game

Events, monster creatures, missions and chapters, as well as arenas of gameplay are the same.

All the memories had gathered clearly in Lucius's brain. Lucius has another piece of memory that hasn't been fully collected: before this incident, it was him who faced the monster creature in the last round, but he didn't win the fight.

Then why did Lucius come back alive now? Is the body recovery potion of his choosing

Unfortunately, Lucius could not clearly remember what the creature looked like.

Lucius also remembered how to fight this centipede monster creature. In the first round, everyone will be busy running around looking for a safe zone in this city arena.

As is now happening. People were running here and there in fear and confusion. Panicked screams could be heard from everywhere—which actually provoked the centipede monster creature to make even more strange sounds.

"Lucius, let's run!" Kaylee intended to pull one of Lucius' hands.

"Wait." Lucius withdrew his hand, stopping Kaylee from running. "There's something bothering that monster."

Kaylee, who was already looking very panicked, looked at Lucius in disbelief.

"Lucius, do you want to die here? Don't you know what the command in the message on your phone is?" she insisted. His tone was very worried.

Lucius was still standing quietly looking at the centipede monster. His gut was very strong telling him that he didn't need to run around like other people.

Even though the centipede monster was slowly advancing forward, Lucius had yet to decide how to proceed.

'When I ran this round the first time, I ran straight away without thinking of a proper plan,' thought Lucius.

The centipede monster was getting closer and closer. The movement is not slithering, but stepping by standing like a human. As a result, its legs that resemble roots appear to be twisting in the air.

"Aren't you going to run, Lucius?" Kaylee's voice squeaked with fear.

Lucius suddenly tightened his grip on Kaylee's hand.

'Come to think of it, there is no detailed explanation about where the safe zone is, and whether there is only one or more safe zones...' Lucius thought again.

His memory is spinning. This feels a little weird. Lucius tried to work out a sequence: safety zone, two and a half hour time limit, self defense. So no notice how they will defend themselves?

"It's impossible to run for the safe zone, Kaylee," Lucius said finally.

Kaylee was confused. "What do you mean?"

Turning around, Lucius took Kaylee to walk quickly down the sidewalk. There was anger on Kaylee's face because she thought Lucius was too late to act.

"We can't read quests at random," Lucius replied. "I feel something is up. If that monster can attack in just a second, and while we're not being told where the safe zone is, we're still going to die.

The key to the success of this quest is in the second sentence. Self-defense."

After saying that, Lucius looked at the monster, aimed at the monster with his index finger then tapped twice, and swung one of his arms to the right.

A status window blue screen appeared in front of Lucius' face, displaying information.

[MONSTER DETAILS]

[MONSTER NAME: BLACK POISON Centipede]

[MONSTER LEVELS: 14]

[STRENGTH: BLACK POISON ON HER LEGS THAT CAN SPREAD TO THE BODY IN JUST 10 SECONDS & SPEED TO AIM THE PREY]

[WEAKNESS: CLOSING EYE, SHORT VIEWING RANGE, POSSIBLE SHOOTING]

Lucius smirked after reading the information box on the status window. He waved once more to remove the status window from his view.

"The monster's legs can aim at prey quickly. The human's running speed will be inferior to the speed of his feet," explained Lucius to Kaylee.

"Then where are you taking me? What should we do?" she asked.

"Attrack the monster's attention while waiting for the next sub-quest message to appear. I'm sure the self-defense mission is closely related to something in the monster's body," Lucius replied confidently.

Actually Kaylee still wants to question. But seeing Lucius' serious face made his intention cancel.

PRAANGGG.

BUGGGHH.

The sound of breaking glass was heard everywhere. The monster centipede's legs broke everything. Several people were stabbed by the monster's leg, then entangled until the body disappeared.

Chaos is so scary. But Lucius did not abandon his plans. He still held Kaylee's hand towards a shop whose door was open.

"You come inside," Lucius ordered as he stopped.

Kaylee did not immediately enter the store. He was still standing in the doorway, looking worriedly at Lucius.

"You're not coming in?" she asked.

Lucius shook his head, then gently pushed Kaylee's shoulder into the shop.

"I'm going to get the monster's attention. Can I ask you a favor?"

Kaylee immediately nodded. "Of course. What help do you need?"

"You take anything to spread the glass shards." Lucius pointed at the glass wall on the right side of the shop. There is an oval part that has been broken, with a wide hole.

"What for?"

"So I can jump inside. I will also break the glass from the outside. I need something noisy to attract the attention of the monster's legs," Lucius explained.

Kaylee was confused. "Then you want the monster's feet to go inside?" he asked, answered by Lucius' nod of approval. "What should I do when the monster's foot enters?"

"Saw, cut," Lucius insisted. "I'm sure you know how to use it."

Kaylee's enthusiastic smile widened. "I'm glad you didn't forget about that."

Lucius took a deep breath. Without further conversation, Kaylee entered the shop, while Lucius closed the shop door. Lucius looked for something that could block the door from the outside. Then search for objects and find a foam fire extinguisher.

Lucius immediately moved to the foam fire extinguisher. With full power, Lucius raised the tool and slammed it against the glass twice.

PRAAANGG.

One time the sound of breaking glass was heard. Lucius paused to see how the centipede monster would react.

'ROAAAAAA!'

The centipede monster's body spun to face Lucius' whereabouts. Of course Lucius smiled broadly. The plan worked.

PRAAANGGG!

The sound of the second glass shattering. Lucius flinched and turned his head to the side.

Kaylee's figure raised and lowered her eyebrows with a proud smile after hitting the foam fire extinguisher. Kaylee's athletic body seemed so fit to hold the heavy equipment.

Lucius ignored Kaylee. Then Lucius continued to slam the foam fire extinguisher alternately with Kaylee so that each other would not be hit by broken glass.

After the glass wall had a wide hole, which was enough for a human to jump through, Lucius immediately threw the fire extinguisher in his hand.

Out of breath, Lucius looked up at the centipede monster. The attempt was successful. The centipede monster seemed to be attracted to Lucius.

That's why the centipede monster stretched its long legs until it was snaking in the air. Lucius counted.

"Five...four..."

The monster's eyes stared at Lucius.

"Three...two..."

Then just before Lucius could count to one, one of the monster's long legs stretched out towards him. Lucius grinned, then immediately jumped through the hole in the glass wall.

Lucius' body rolled over, immediately got up, then ran around and out through the broken glass wall on the left side of the cafe.

Before the centipede monster's foot had followed Lucius, Kaylee had cut it off with a chainsaw.

Meanwhile Lucius again attracted the attention of the monster's other leg. This time there were two legs stretched out towards him, but Lucius quickly jumped into the cafe again.

Lucius deliberately made the monster's two legs twist into the cafe and get tangled up. After two legs stretched out, then three other legs stretched out followed.

The movement Lucius made was the same: jump in through the broken glass wall on the left side, then jump out from the glass wall on the right side. He performs jumps from the sides alternately.

The five monster legs that were about to wrap around Lucius's body, were now tangled together instead.

Lucius grinned.

'This time!'

Without hesitation, Lucius jumped up onto one of the monster's legs. Thick as tree roots. Carefully, Lucius jumped in a zig-zag so as to maintain his body's balance and at the same time trick the centipede monster.

After a leg of the centipede monster stretched out again, Lucius seized the opportunity. He pays attention to which point can be safe and non-toxic.

After finding a spot where there were no tentacle holes, Lucius immediately held on tightly. Because his movement was twisting and turning, as if he wanted to throw Lucius' body away, Lucius tried not to let go of his hand.

'This monster is trying to let me go,' Lucius thought to himself.

Slowly the centipede monster pulled back the leg Lucius was clinging to.

Lucius started the chainsaw he took from Kaylee.

Lucius was getting closer and closer to the centipede monster's heart. Lucius's grip on the saw. getting tighter.

"Feel this!"

Just as the centipede monster opened its mouth, about to eat Lucius, Lucius jumped and grabbed one of the monster's legs. With strong strength to support the body, Lucius dangled.

"One..."

"Two..."

"Three!"

Lucius pushed his legs back so his body could swing forward. It was then, he plunged the flaming saw into the point where the centipede monster's heart was.

'ROAAAAAA!'

Lucius closed his eyes as blood spurted out. He let go of his grip on the chainsaw, allowing the flaming saw to remain embedded in the monster's heart.

While Lucius' body fell to the ground. He rolled several meters away from the centipede monster's presence.

'ROOOOOAAA!'

Lucius gasped at the sight of the centipede monster in pain. But gradually a very satisfied smile curved.

In two minutes, after a scene that created a tense atmosphere, the centipede monster was finally dead.

Finally.
