Kyle, on his way to work, had received a call from his second in command, it turns out that Jake Clifford had been pulling a long string so that he could speak with him.

At first, Kyle was reluctant to speak to the man who had taken his wife away from him, but after much persuasion, he was ready to give him the chance, wondering what his expression was going to be when he found out that the same man who was humiliated at his party the other day was the same man with the power to take away his job.

But Jake seemed to have lost all sense of reasoning as soon as he noticed Kyle. First, he was so furious that he had to meet him here, and recalling how Anna had spoken to him this morning like he was a disappointment, he was ready to get rid of this man.

Kyle's gaze narrowed as he watched Jake approach him, a smug grin spread across his face.

“Look who we have here! Why does it seem like you are following me everywhere that I go?” Jake flashed a disdainful sneer at him.

“What did you think you just did right now? Do you realize that you could have run me over if I wasn't fast enough to have gotten off your track?”

Kyle groaned as soon as he was on his feet, his eyes dark and a hint of surprise in them.

But Jake seemed indifferent, there wasn't even a glister of remorse in his eyes while he stood before Kyle and was staring at him in such disdainfully.

First, they had sent a car after him just yesterday and tried to take his life, and now, Jake was boldly launching his attack on him.

Even though they were the ones who had taken everything away from him, they still chose to go after him.

“I don't think that it would make much difference if I should get rid of you right now, I don't think someone like you even deserves to live!”

Jake sneered, but Kyle had a wry smile on his face with both hands tucked into his pocket while he stared down at Jake.

“I wish that I could stand here and entertain your madness, but I have other things that I need to deal with”

Jake's face reddened at the words of Kyle. He was a nobody who had just come out of jail, yet he was so bold and looked down on others, not to mention that Jake felt like there was something different about his aura that gave him the chills.

“And I am guessing that you are here for the security opening here,” Jake mentioned while he strides closer towards Kyle; there was this smug face that he couldn't wipe off, and staring down at Kyle, he felt like he had his entire destiny right in his hands.

Kyle had no intention of responding to any of his sarcastic comments, yet it seemed like Jake wasn't going to give up that easily.

“You should leave right now, this is a military justification and there is no way that they would take an ex-convict for a security guard”

“You are just a one-star Sergent, how would you even know that?” Kyle fired back so calmly, but his words seemed to have struck a nerve.

Jake despise been reminded of how low his rank was, he clenched his fist hard as he tried not to launch an attack on this man before him who had nothing but was clouded with so much

pride.

“I guess that you must think that I am just a one-star sergeant, but do you even know who I am meeting with today, it is the infamous Shade the Slayer, you wouldn't know about him because you have been stuck up in a prison all your life for a woman that has no regard for you and was ready to give you up at the slightest opportunity she got.”

Jake knew that those words were bound to set Kyle at the edge, yet he remained calm and wanted to end this conversation with Jake as soon as possible. Jake was so frustrated, and this man before him was the right fit to let out all of his anger.

“As much as I want to stand here and play this game with you, I wish you the best of luck with whoever you think you are meeting today”

“Don't you dare take another step forward! You will have to go look for a job somewhere else because I can assure you that you have lost your job today!”

His voice was so persistent, and then he turned around and rushed over to one of the men at the gate, who hurriedly came at his demands.

“Do you know me?” Jake adjusted the collar of his shirt, his eyes beaming with pride as the security glanced at him from head to toe.

“Yes Sir, the son of General Jonathan Clifford”

Jake's lips twitched into a smug, full smile, seeing that he was easily recognized by someone from the high-ranking military office.

“And what about this low life standing here, do you know him?” Jake went ahead to ask. The guard, who had not seen Kyle since he resumed office, stared at him from head to toe continuously, and no matter how many times he did, he could not place an identity on the face.

“He looks like someone that I have seen before, but I can't tell where I have seen him”

“Then let me help broaden your mind. He was here for the security opening, but I am telling you now that he is never getting the job because he is a low life and not to mention, an ex-convict, so how about you send him out of there”

“I am sorry Sir, but I don't think that I can do that, since he is here, then I figure out that he must have a pass to have access to the gate, and whoever has a pass to access the gate, must be very important”

The security explained, but Jake shrugged at him. He was starting to feel irritated, yet he managed to remain calm.

“Haven't you been listening to me? I just told you that he is an ex-convict who happened to sneak his way in here and shouldn't be here; you should have him get out of here right now, or else you might lose your job!”

Jake threatened confidently, and although the security felt like Jake might be right, yet he knew that in the military base, he dared not act rashly, especially seeing how calm Kyle remained.

“Sir, please, if you don't mind, I would like to see your military pass!” He requested politely from Kyle, but Kyle remained silent, a blank expression that was hard to decipher on his face.

“I don't own you an explanation as to why I am here, this isn't your job description and you seem to be preying on issues that shouldn't be of concern to you, I suggest that you go back to your post and do not get involved in this”

Kyle warned sternly; even the warning could be clearly seen in the way his eyes twitched, yet the security felt even more adamant about leaving.

“This is my job and I don't think that you are in any position to tell me how to operate”

“See! I just told you that he sneaked his way in here, and now; he is trying to act tough; that way, you can get scared and look away; he doesn't have a pass and, as such, should leave this place immediately!”

Jake sneered with a murderous look on his face yet Kyle remained indifferent, staring at the both of them.

“Sir, please you have to leave if you don't have a pass, else I might be forced to throw you out of here”

He threatened but seeing that Kyle remained calm and wasn't ready to leave, he walked up closer to him.

“Sir, you need to leave right now,” he thundered this time around; his gaze was no longer polite, and seeing that it was the son of General Jonathan, he was trying so hard to please him.

The security just then grabbed Kyle by his shirt, squeezing tight as he made to drag him out of them, but Kyle reached for his wrist; it made a cracking sound as soon as he held, it, and that was all he needed to head him down to the ground.

Yet Kyle didn't seem satisfied with the outcome, he could take so much from anyone, but he could not let anyone below his status lay their hands on him.

Kyle clenched his fist hard, and as he was about to hit him again, Sergeant Desmond walked up towards them accompanied by two other low-ranked.

“What is going on here!” Sergeant Desmond growled as he approached.

A wry smile spread through Jake's face because he knew that this time around, there was no way that Kyle would be able to escape punishment.
