He glanced at his watch and frowned. He was late.

He picked up the pace, almost running in an attempt to beat time. He had promised his lady that he would be on time and now he was running late.

He finally got to the main road and took his place at the bus stop. After waiting for almost two minutes– two extra wasted minutes of his time– a taxi arrived and after a brief negotiation, they were on their way.

His phone rang out from his coat pocket and he already knew who would be calling. "I know, I know, this isn't what I planned either. I'm sorry."

"You were supposed to be here ten minutes ago!" She complained over the phone.

"I am really, truly sorry honey. I'll be there in three minutes… five minutes top."

"Get here in two minutes!"

"I'm in a taxi, I'll be there soon." After he hung up, he noticed the cab driver staring at him through the mirror.

"Wife's troubles huh?"

"Yeah."

"I can relate. My Mrs is always stressing me out. But there's nothing we can do about it."
