Chapter Seven

The grand banquet hall of the Whitaker Clubhouse was filled with a luxurious and imposing atmosphere. Crystal chandeliers hung from the enormous ceiling, casting brilliant light across the golden decorations and polished marble floor. Powerful businessmen and company executives filled the enormous hall, each one dressed in expensive designer suits and evening gowns.

At the center of the main table sat Dickson, one of the Wilson Group's core executives and the investment director responsible for approving some of the group's most important business partnerships.

His presence alone was enough to make the entire hall feel different.

Every executive desperately wanted his attention. One by one, they stepped forward with expensive gifts.

"Director Dickson, this is a limited-edition Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime. Only a handful were produced worldwide. Please accept it as a small token of my respect."

Dickson glanced at the luxurious watch before calmly nodding.

"Thank you."

Another executive immediately stepped forward.

"Director Dickson, I'm Henry Wallace, chairman of Wallace International. This is a 1968 Ferrari 275 GTB that I personally imported from Europe. I hope you will accept it."

A few people around the table immediately gasped. "That's worth millions!"

"He's actually giving Director Dickson a classic Ferrari?"

Henry smiled proudly.

Dickson only glanced at him before turning his attention toward the next person.

"Director Dickson, I'm Robert Anderson, CEO of Anderson Holdings. This is a diamond necklace valued at more than ten million dollars. It was personally purchased from the royal collection in Europe."

The room immediately became silent.

Even the other executives looked at the necklace with envy. Yet Dickson remained completely unimpressed. He had seen too many expensive gifts in his position.

Luxury watches, private jets, rare paintings, diamonds, villas and even entire companies had been offered to him before.

To someone in his position, money alone was no longer enough to impress him.

Genevieve stepped forward with Donald's arm wrapped around her waist. She wore an expensive designer gown and a confident smile. She glanced at the executives before turning her attention toward the man sitting at the head table.

"Director Dickson," she said sweetly. "I know ordinary gifts cannot impress someone of your status, so I prepared something special for you."

Dickson finally raised his eyes. "What is it?"

Genevieve smiled brightly. "Bring her in."

The massive doors of the banquet hall opened. Two men slowly pushed a large crystal cage into the center of the hall.

Inside the crystal cage was Jenny. A thin iron chain was fastened tightly around her ankle. Her clothes were torn and disheveled, while bruises and cuts covered her pale skin. Her cloudy eyes wandered aimlessly around the room, completely unable to see the people standing in front of her.

She looked weak, helpless and completely terrified. The entire hall became strangely quiet.

Genevieve looked at Jenny with nothing but disgust and cruelty. "That blind trash was finally useful for once after all these years," she sneered.

Donald chuckled as he held Genevieve even closer. "She'll be worth every penny if Dickson likes what he sees."

Genevieve's smile widened.

They turned their attention toward Dickson again, he's the only man they believed could open the door to the upper class for them.

Dickson slowly raised his eyes. His gaze moved from Genevieve to the crystal cage.

Then it settled on Jenny's bleeding body. Ever since he got there, his expression changed.

Seeing her bleeding feet and chafed ankles, Dickson's interest immediately piqued. His throat bobbed as he stared at her.

Despite being blind, Jenny had grown into an exceptionally beautiful young woman. Helplessly trapped inside that cage like a wounded animal, she looked heartbreakingly pitiful.

A twisted smile slowly formed on Dickson's lips, making him look like a psychopath who seemed fascinated by the sight of blood or perhaps someone suffering.

"I think I like the gift," he began. "She's far more interesting than those ladies who have been throwing themselves at me for a partnership. She looks like something I can keep."

Hearing him say that, Genevieve became extremely excited. She had doubted whether he would actually like the gift, but Donald had assured her that he knew Dickson's preferences.

And it seemed he had been right.

"You're indeed great. He actually likes it," Genevieve praised him.

Donald smiled proudly.

"It's my pleasure. No one knows Dickson like I do."

The truth was that Donald had only heard plenty of rumors about Dickson's tastes, but he had thought Jenny would be the perfect person for him and could satisfy his preferences.

He had been secretly praying that Dickson would like the gift so he could gain more of Genevieve's trust.

Now that the rumors seemed to be true, he finally had the confidence to flaunt his supposed knowledge.

"No one knows Dickson like I do. Trust me when I say that," Donald said with a proud smile.

Genevieve immediately stepped forward, her smile becoming even more flattering. "Director Dickson, you can do whatever you want with her. She's obedient, and she won't cause you any trouble. As long as you're willing to support our cooperation project with the Wilson Group, she's completely yours."

She glanced at Jenny inside the crystal cage before turning back to Dickson.m"You don't have to worry about anything. She'll listen to whatever you tell her to do."

Dickson chuckled, his eyes remained fixed on Jenny as he slowly leaned back in his chair. "Do you know what your words mean?"

Genevieve quickly shook her head. "No, Director Dickson."

"You just promised me that I can do whatever I want with someone as a condition for a business partnership with the Wilson Group." His voice was calm, but the entire hall suddenly became silent.

Genevieve's smile widened.n"Exactly. As long as you support our project, you can consider her your gift."

Dickson suddenly burst into laughter. "Hahaha!"

His laughter echoed through the enormous banquet hall. "You really don't understand what you're offering me, do you?"

Genevieve and Donald looked at each other in confusion.

Dickson slowly raised his glass. "My words carry weight within the Wilson Group. When I speak, the investment department listens. When I approve a partnership, the funds are released. If I decide to support your project, nobody in this room will dare question my decision. So, If I say yes, this deal is guaranteed."

The surrounding guests immediately looked at Genevieve and Donald with envy.

A partnership with the Wilson Group was something most of them could only dream about.

Rumor had it that once the cooperation list was finalized, the Wilson Group's CEO, Lady Sophia, would personally meet with the selected partners.

For people like them, even getting an appointment with someone of Sophia Wilson's status usually took months, if they were lucky enough to get one at all.

"How did they manage to get this close to Director Dickson?"

"They're incredibly lucky."

"If their project gets approved, their company will rise to an entirely different level."

The whispers around the hall made Genevieve's smile grow wider. She had finally gotten what she wanted, or so she thought..

At that moment, one of the executives suddenly spoke. "By the way, I heard something strange happened outside Greenville County Jail this morning."

Several people immediately turned toward him. "What happened?"

"I heard Lady Sophia herself appeared there with an incredibly grand motorcade. Several luxury cars followed her, and dozens of bodyguards were present."

The executive lowered his voice. "Apparently, she went there personally to receive someone."

The entire table immediately became curious.."Receive someone?"

"Who could possibly deserve that kind of treatment from Lady Sophia?"

"Exactly. I heard the person she went to must have an extraordinary background."

Everyone immediately began speculating about the mysterious person who could make the CEO of the Wilson Group personally appear at a prison.

Genevieve's expression subtly changed. Greenville County Jail, that was where she had gone that morning. She had personally gone there to divorce Marcus, then why didn't she meet her?

Her eyes suddenly narrowed, maybe If Marcus hadn't wasted her time with his pathetic behavior, she might have stayed longer.

Perhaps she could have met Lady Sophia herself, and could have built a relationship with the Wilson Group's CEO.

The thought immediately filled Genevieve with anger. Marcus had already ruined enough things for her.

Even after getting divorced, that useless man was still somehow getting in her way. The more she thought about it, the more furious she became.

Her resentment toward Marcus immediately spilled onto Jenny. Without warning, Genevieve moved the crystal cage and violently kicked it, then acted innocent.

The entire cage shook violently. Jenny lost her balance and crashed against the metal bars.

A deep wound instantly tore across her arm, exposing flesh and nearly reaching the bone.

Pain wracked her body as she convulsed helplessly.

Genevieve acted as though she hadn't seen anything. She walked over and deliberately pressed one finger against Jenny's bleeding wound.

"Get out of the cage yourself."

Jenny cried out in pain but still desperately resisted. Her weak body trembled as she tried to move.

Genevieve's expression immediately became furious. She raised her hand and slapped Jenny twice across the face with brutal force.

Jenny's head slammed against the metal bars, and blood immediately trickled down her forehead.

Genevieve grabbed Jenny by the chin and forced her head upward. "If I hadn't fed you leftovers every day, you would've starved to death long ago!" Her voice was filled with disgust. "Since Mr. Dickson likes you now, you'd better serve him obediently!"

Jenny's body trembled violently.

"If you dare resist again, I'll have your tendons cut and throw you into the red-light district for men to ruin you for the rest of your life!”

"Inside, of course," he replied. He didn't raise his voice despite being in a hurry."And why do you think you belong here?" the other guard asked rudely.Marcus looked at him calmly. "And how did you know I don't belong here?"The guard sneered. "You could never belong in a place like this. Look at what you're wearing. The people allowed inside this clubhouse are business executives and people of extremely important status. You don't fit into any of those categories."Marcus took a deep breath. He wasn't here to argue with a couple of security guards.
