Garrett’s punches were packed with raw power and ruthless precision. His goal wasn’t to make his opponent cry water but blood.

Denver was under a true pump.

But this wasn’t the first time he was dancing at death’s door.

In fact, these were the times when his heart pumped stronger than it was ever supposed to.

His knees kept dipping every time he blocked one of the monstrous hits that slammed down onto him like a collapsing wall.

He could hear his heart hammering.

Once.

Twice.

Ten times in a couple of seconds.

And it kept accelerating as though a frantic drumline locked inside his chest.

Something within him sparked.

Crimson sparks snapped through his veins, crawling along arteries, biting into muscle, stitching him together with raw defiance.

A strong bust of lightning energy came out of his body, pushing the very space around him.

Garrett’s fist as well as his whole body was pushed back. He was forced to momentarily close his eyes.

The crimson streaks were so thick and strong they wa

If anybody is wondering that Denver as a teenager is using way too many techniques and seems much sharper overall than the current Denver, that's because it's meant to be that way. He was a different beast before he lost his memories. If anybody had doubts, I hope this clarifies things. I'm tying things together through this flashback, and it won't be long before we go back to the present time and have all the big players clash with their motives revealed. After the mayhem that happens at Hawk Park, we'll enter the final arc when the enemies become clear. A humble thanks to all those who have come this far. If it's possible, vote or leave a review. Cheers.

“S-Santa who?” Sedrick’s facial muscles stiffened as he tried to slide past the matter. “I don’t know who you’re talking about?”“It’s not Santa. He said Sanctus!” Sheryl corrected him in a loud voice. “Stop trying to weasel your way through. You’re not getting anywhere until you give us what you want.”“Who is this Sanctus they’re talking about?” Philip asked. “What are you hiding, Sedrick?”“I’m not hiding anything,” Sedrick replied fast. “Trust me. I have never even heard that name before.”“Philip Nighthawk,” Sheryl barked. “You’re a top ranker, right? Use your aura to see if he’s lying or not.”Philip, however, shook his head. “He’s my mentor. Why would I do something like that just based on your words?”“He killed Doula. That’s not reason enough for you?”“It’s unfortunate that Doula died,” Philip replied with calm. “What Sedrick has done isn’t pleasant, whatever his reason may have been. I will extend his punishment time from six to twelve months. If you’re still not satisfied,

Sheryl’s POV:Denver and I headed toward the Data Tower, a place that was entrusted to Philip not long ago.It became quite a sensation when someone very young was made the head of such an important tower.“What do you think about Brother Philip?” Denver asked me.“You met him, so you tell me. What do you think?” I asked back.“He really seemed like he didn’t know what Sedrick did,” Denver replied with a serious face. “But then why did Morata end up going to Brother Mickey’s place?”“I don’t know, but you should stop calling them brothers,” I quickly told him. “For all we know, they could be planning your downfall right now.”“I’m lower in rank than them.”“Yeah, but didn’t you get attacked by Garrett and Gunnar? We can’t trust anyone. You got me, and I got you. That’s it.”He smiled a little while looking ahead. That smile was enough of an approval for me.Soon, we reached the Data Tower, but to our surprise, Philip and Sedrick were both fighting seriously. It looked like they were t

While Denver entered the castle, Natalia approached Sheryl who immediately had her hand on the hilt of her sword.“Chill, girl,” Natalia said. “I’m not here to fight.”“Why would I believe you?” Sheryl retorted.“Because I’m going to give you money,” Natalia smiled. “Lots of it.”“Money?”“Yeah, you wouldn’t need to worry about the taxes, either,” Natalia added. “You grew up in the Nameless Zone, so you don’t know how the world really works. I’ll introduce you to some damn good accountants who will help you get to that ten digit number before you hit thirty.”“Ten digit number? How much is that?”“A billion dollars,” Natalia’s smile thickened. “Interested now?”Sheryl squinted her eyes. “Why would you help me after I refused to give you Nightlaser? What are you after?”“You can keep the Nightlaser since you’re talented enough to own it,” Natalia replied calmly. “As for what I’m after, I just want the real talents to be on good terms with me. That’s how the organization will prosper. Y

“You may proceed ahead. The king is waiting,” the knight in the golden armor stepped aside.Denver calmly walked past the knight, but he stayed on guard, despite feeling hostility from the knight. The castle was big, and Denver got lost at first, not sure where he should go.He eventually went upstairs.Another knight, who was playing a piano, pointed his finger in one direction.Using that, Denver managed to reach the royal hall. Two guards opened the doors and gestured for him to enter. And he did.Denver expected to see his father, but all he saw was a big curtain that blocked his view.Ingrid was standing on this side of the curtain, but his face was covered with a helmet that had three feathers in it.“It’s been a long time since someone managed to get here during their first visit,” Ingrid said.“In a long time?”“All the rankers who came to meet His Majesty for the first time would be told to go back and come later when they get notified,” Ingrid stated. “And if they were to qu

“You fought Mickey. That was brave, but quite reckless if you ask me,” Natalia told Denver as they walked together. “Survival isn’t about strength, boy. It’s about knowing who to lean on when your legs give out.”Denver smiled. “I already have a shoulder to lean on.”Natalia smiled without warmth. “You must mean Sheryl. She’s young and smart, but her shoulders won’t be able to bear your weight. There will come a time when you’ll need wiser shoulders.”“Like yours?”Natalia grinned a tad bit warmer.“Your shoulder looks frailer than Sheryl’s, though,” he stated.Natalia’s steps slowed half a breath, but she chuckled, low and gravelly. “Sharp tongues stop people from climbing to the top.”“Blunt knives can be held carelessly, licked even,” Denver retorted. “But sharp knives decide where and when the cut goes.”Natalia turned her head half way toward him, smiling, eyes not so calm. “And where does your cut go?”“Where there’s no respect,” Denver replied.Natalia went silent.Soon, they r

Doula’s funeral took place that day in Hawkyard which used to be called Bully Woods. The name of this region was officialized by the council, so nobody had any complaints.Hundreds of rankers visited the funeral, mostly because they wanted to meet and greet the members of the council. And so many of the rankers got their eyes on Denver because the word of mouth had already spread that he defeated the current tenth ranker Brook. It was only a matter of time before Denver would be officially considered the tenth ranker. So, everybody wanted to get a good look at him.Denver’s height was abnormal for someone his age. He did not look like a child, but still, many gossiped that he won the fight against Brook by a fluke.Nicole didn’t just stay put when she heard that. While serving drinks to everyone and promoting her own bar, she said, “Don’t you guys remember the red lightning bolts you saw streaking through the sky? That was Denver’s work.”“EHH?” many rankers, even the high rankers, we
