As Neal walked onto the school grounds, he retrieved his phone from his pocket.

He hadn't been able to see Amber before he left home. He placed a call through to Amber. He had to tell her what he had in mind before he got caught up in school work and activities.

Amber picked up on the first ring. “Hello, Neal? I didn't see you this morning. You must have left early.”

Neal nodded. “Yes, I did. I want you to give the Pious Groups back the contract.”

There was a short pause before Amber blurted, “Isn't that Cathy's company?”

Neal nodded. “Yes, it is.”

“Why?” Amber asked, surprise evident in her voice. “Why did you change your mind? I mean I'm not questioning your orders but I'm just quite surprised.”

“It’s okay. I understand your surprise. I actually wanted to teach Cathy and her family a lesson. If you remember, that's what I told you I wanted to achieve by taking the contract from her family's company. Now, it appears that this has been done. Especially as she asked for my help.”

One of the remaining workers of the Soiree hurried inside and whispered, “The CEO is here,” multiple times before she hurried to her own cubicle.Neal was met with absolute silence as he stepped into the reception area. Everyone had quieted down at Neal's wake.Neal briefly took note of the new faces in the reception area as he walked past. Gone were the faces of the gossipers and mannerless employees.“Welcome back, sir," some of them greeted enthusiastically, while some pretended to be hyper-focused on their work.Neal was climbing up the stairs when another employee was climbing down. The employee immediately hurried back to the top of the stairs and stepped aside for Neal.“Welcome sir," the employee greeted, his head lowered into a deep bow.Neal merely nodded as he made his way up the stairway. In the hallway where the elevator was located, some of the employees walked through, headed to different locations. Once they saw Neal, they stopped walking and greeted him. All the empl

Though the loss of a contract with the Waterfall Corporation was not something to be happy about, Lisa had her hopes up as she walked into the premises of the Pious Groups.Lisa ignored the receptionist who greeted her. Instead, she made a beeline for the manager's office. The manager suppressed a groan when he looked up to see who had barged into his office, without even a knock. The woman's presence had always spelled trouble, but he had no choice but to give her due respect. He forced a smile as he sat up. “Mrs Ben, good day, ma'am.”Lisa offered the manager a cold smile. “Good day to you too,” she placed her bag on the table and she took a seat. Then, she leaned forward in the seat, her hands on the table.“So I hear that our company has lost the contract with the Waterfall Corporation,” she said. "When did that happen?" Lisa was simply fishing for more evidence. She wanted something concrete before she put her plan into action. She had initially planned to call an impromptu f

The manager looked up from the contract document and faced the workers with a thunderous expression. Some of them were still sneering and throwing insulting words at Neal.“Do you know who you’re speaking to?” He yelled in their faces. The workers stepped back, taken aback by the sudden outburst of the boss.“How dare you be so disrespectful? How dare you treat him with such disregard?” The manager reprimanded. The workers all quieted down. They looked at one another as they wondered what was happening. They listened, their eyes lowered, as the manager scolded them. They didn't understand what was happening. It didn't make sense to them why he was yelling at them because of the random man who'd just walked in to see the manager without any form of introduction.“Why is he yelling because of him?” One of the workers dared to whisper to her colleague closest to her when the manager looked away from them.“Just shut up," the colleague said, not wanting to incur the fury of their angry bo

“I'll need to leave early today," Neal said as he leaned against the desk and watched Vanessa pack up her books.Vanessa stood up and clutched the books against her chest. “It's already lunch time, why don't you just have lunch before you leave? We could get something light at the diner.”Neal stood straight. He adjusted his bag on his shoulder, then he and Vanessa began to walk out of the lecture hall. “Just a few minutes,” Vanessa cajoled when Neal said nothing. “Remember that we didn't have breakfast at your place. After those few cupcakes, we didn't have anything again,” she added.Neal nodded. “Alright, then. I can spare some minutes.”They stopped before their lockers and kept their books. Then they headed to the diner. After their lunch, Vanessa bade Neal goodbye. As Neal walked to where he'd get a cab, he looked at the address of the company he had bought. He hailed a taxi and the man the address of the Soiree. Neal's gaze was already on the moderate building as the driver p

Neal stepped out of the elevator and made his way to the waiting room right outside Amber's office where he knew that Miles would be waiting. The moment Miles saw Neal walk into the room, he rose to his feet and met him half way. “Good day,” Miles said as he stretched his hand out for a handshake.Neal ignored Miles’ hand and simply nodded.Miles gritted his teeth and he dropped his hand by his side. “I've done what you asked me to do,” Miles began. “I have apologized to Yvonne and I’ve gotten her forgiveness. Now, you should keep to your own side of the bargain.”Neal's brows rose. He was irritated at the rude and entitled manner with which Miles was speaking. Neal thought that Miles must have forgotten that he was no longer the one calling the cards. He decided to remind him.Neal crossed his arms over his chest. He met Miles' expectant gaze with a no-nonsense look. “What if I don't?" The anger Miles had felt over the stress of returning to the company and Neal’s disregard for h

Neal smoothed his brows. “I'm scouting with someone." Vanessa hid her smirk as she nodded. “Okay," she doesn't believe Neal one bit. He had done that thing he always did whenever he was about to hide how great he was again; deflecting from the original question. He definitely owned the place.“Alright,” she smiled at Neal. “So I thought that we could leave for classes together.” She raised her brows, "What do you think?" She shrugged. “We can just chat before our lecture time. It seems you've been quite busy these days. Well,” she lifted her shoulders in a half shrug, “We've all been busy. From one class to another, heaps of assignments and quizzes. There's barely any time to breathe.”Then she jabbed her finger in Neal's direction. “But you in particular seem more busy. These past few days, I've noticed that you always leave school immediately after classes.”Neal nodded. “You're right. The week hasn't been generous with time.”Vanessa smiled.Neal briefly glanced around. “So what
