Liam's POV

“Liam! There, that's my boy, Liam!”

I looked up quickly and saw Mom walking over, dragging her luggage behind her as she approached.

I had zeroed off and didn't even know when she had entered the hall until she was right in front of me. I clumsily got off the chair and approached her.

“Mom,” I called.

Even though I was happy to see her arrive safely, my body wasn't responding due to the events of the previous day, I guess.

“Oh. Liam. It's good to see you again!” Mom said as she threw her arms around me and hugged me so passionately.

For a brief moment, I just wanted to stay there. I wanted to remain there in her embrace, the one place where I felt safe and secure, but then I was a full-grown man now, I had to face and slay my demons. Now was no time to find shelter and refuge in my mom.

“I've missed you, Liam,” she sang as she squeezed me a little too tight.

“Missed you too, Mom,” I replied.

What was that? A tear? Liam?

I quickly wiped my eyes, hoping she didn't notice.
