Same moment as Dawson was strangling the life out of Carla, the party was still buzzing with guests mingling with one another and enjoying themselves. Alexander had seen off Emma and went back in. He tried dodging the remaining few people at the party but was accosted by one of the board members.

He looked at Alex sternly. "Take what Mr. Cason says to heart. He's always been a brute. But I will say this because you seem like a good fellow. Be careful of him. He's a ruthless man, and he's with the bad crowd. I have this gut feeling that Mr. Williams's death wasn't old age." He patted Alexander's shoulder and walked off into the parking lot.
