Chapter 2

Carla saw Alex's eyes red and was scared because this wasn't an Alex she had seen before. She went closer to Dawson to avoid Alex.

"Take your cheap ass ring!"

Carla threw the ring Alex had engaged her with at him. "It isn't worth sitting on my finger. I'm too expensive for this shit."

"What are you saying, Carla? Suddenly you are too expensive. Cheap ass! Really! I worked my butt off to get you this. I knew how many hours of hard work I put in to get you this ring." Alex spat furiously at Carla.

"You call a $3,000 ring expensive and you are proud of it, meanwhile Dawson got me diamond earrings worth over $50,000 and it didn't even shake him," She said, shoving her blonde hair out of the way revealing a set of earrings she wore proudly.

Dawson, who was now sitting on a kitchen stool with a disdainful look watched as Carla spewed all abuse and scorn on Alex. He smiled and laughed as if the situation was entertaining to him.

He stood up and walked closer to Alex. "You've never had the means to take care of her like a proper man. So, why are you pained? The company you are ranting about was closing up anyway. I mean, we just helped by giving you a little push." They both burst out laughing at Alex.

"Don't you dare say a word to me, Dawson! You were my friend, I trusted you around my fiance, I introduced you to her and you go around my back to do this…" but Alex was cut short in his sentence by Carla.

"Friend! Fiance! Don't you dare use those two words again? You aren't even ashamed to say the word friend. You can't even stand where Dawson is. He's twice the man you'll ever be now and probably the rest of your miserable pathetic life." Carla retorted.

"Honestly, I'm glad you introduced us that day. Carla's everything I swear. She's my little slut. I don't blame her for jumping on me, I mean, look at me, who wouldn't want to be associated with such luxury." He gestured to the expensive outfits he had on.

As they spoke, Alex's body was dejected. He was astounded at Carla. He couldn't believe what he saw and heard from a woman he loved so much and Dawson whom he thought was his friend.

"I have loved you, respected you, given you the best I could, given you everything I had despite the ill-treatment I got from your family. I deserve at least an ounce of respect from you and not this" Alex's voice quivered with pain and anger mixed in it as he spoke.

"Respect" Carla chuckled. "It's quite obvious to me you don't know your place anymore. You think you did the very best for me Huh! A poverty-stricken rat like you. I blame myself for getting involved with you in the first place" She said scornfully.

She rained all sorts of abuse and disdain on Alex pacing about from one spot in the kitchen to another. Telling Alex how worthless he was and how she wasted her precious two years with him.

Dawson, who just sat at the counter, smiled as Carla exploded on Alex like he was enjoying the show. Alex finally saw Carla's true nature in all its glory for the first time since they had been together.

"For two years Carla, I have been enduring insults, backlash, and ridicule from your family but I endured because of you. This is too much to bear. Your family hates me and it is obvious you do too. So, I need you two to get out of my house or I'm going to call the authorities to do that," Alex said while gesturing to the door with a stern look. Carla let out a laugh containing mockery as if what Alex said was irrelevant.

"You think this is your house! Wow, you seem to have forgotten so soon that you moved in with me". Carla looked at Alex contemptuously with her hands folded to her bosom.

"I paid the mortgage on this house. Maybe you have forgotten that too, Carla". Alex said with bloodshot eyes with his fists closed tightly.

"Do you want to pounce on me again?" She said, chuckling softly. "This is my house, and I should be the one calling the cops on your ass," She said. "Maybe I should, You seem to have forgotten too that the deed of this house is in my name," She said while walking towards the counter to grab her phone. Dawson was staring at Alex with a death stare.

Alex was too stunned to speak, his heart shattered into a million pieces. Carla was right and he knew it. The deeds were in her name making her the legal owner of the house. He had paid the mortgage for nothing and now he is on the brink of losing a roof over his head.

Alex felt hot tears forming in his eyes but he held them back. He didn't want them to have that satisfaction. He held his head up high. Alex stared at Carla in disbelief. He lets out a bitter laugh.

"I can see now that whatever I did never really mattered. It's all about money for you, right? Despite giving you all I had. Adorning you so that you wouldn't lack anything else but I see now that it was all pointless"

Carla let out a soft giggle. "Stop spewing gibberish, Alex. Your cheap-ass gifts are what you thought adorned me" Oh Alex, you really are a nitwit. You should have paid more attention to those rumors you heard about me, maybe it would have saved you and we wouldn't be here." She said scornfully.

Dawson nodded his head in approval of what Carla said. "Even when he didn't merit your sweetness darling. He's too small to handle all these" He drew Carla closer to him and tickled her right in front of Alex. Carla let out a sexual giggle. They made sexual advances at each other right there like Alex was invincible.

"He has interrupted us enough. Remember we had something sweet going on before he barged in like the idiot he is." Carla said and kissed Dawson immediately after.

She turned to Alex. "Get out of my house Alex! You don't deserve me, you never did" She said while Dawson still fondled her butt.

Alex grew angrier at the sight of what was happening right before him like he was insignificant. He clenched his fist right before he left and turned to them.

"One day Carla, you will regret this I swear. I promise you will!" Alex said with so much rage and stormed out.
