"Hello, son," Harry Reynolds said weakly as he turned to look at Jack.

Jack frowned. What are these people saying now? Harry Reynold's son?

He came here for a job, not some kind of expensive prank.

"By SON you mean?" Jack asked, rolling his eyes confused.

"I could as well tell you now," Harry said after taking what seemed to be a deep breath.

"Tell me what?"

"It was something I did many years ago," Harry Reynolds replied, wiping his sweaty forehead.

"What does it have to do with me?"

"Years ago, when I started making my billions…" Harry said and paused as if thinking to remember how long. "I met your mom, Jennifer, she was really pretty. Her eyes were beautiful, her hair was dark, and she had a nice figure. She had everything that made her special…"

Jack was surprised! His mom's name is Jennifer. How does this man know his mom? Is he really his son?

"...At that time, she worked in a restaurant where I used to go to eat.

She was kind and polite.

She was one of the few people who said no to my help, and it made me interested in her…

One day, I asked her to go on a date with me, she agreed, and we went on many dates.

One day, I convinced her to go to a bar with me.

I drank a lot, and I couldn't walk properly.

She felt sorry for me and took me to her apartment.

I did something very wrong; I forced myself on her." He paused and then coughed.

Harry Reynolds continued, "I woke up the next morning and she was crying.

I couldn't remember what happened the night before, just that I drank too much.

I begged her, and she forgave me.

Later, she told me she was going to have a baby—she was pregnant with you.

My fiancée found out, and we had big problems.

We were about to get married, and the only choice I saw was to leave you and your mom because I was going to lose everything.

I left you and your mom and went to a different town.

Everything went fine after that.

I forgot about what happened between us.

It was like nothing ever happened. I moved on with my life.

For 24 years, the name Jennifer never surfaced."

"No, you are not my dad!" Jack yelled.

According to his late mom, his dad was a calm and gentle man who died a long time ago, long before he was born.

But, staring at the sick man now, who claims to be his father, he was at a loss.

His mood was replaced with total confusion.

Why doesn't the old man leave him out of his family issues? He has the Rhoades to worry about.

"You can deny it all you want, but I have to tell you what happened some years ago and how it's come back to haunt me after I had repented.

Now, my wife and her son, whom I'm not even sure is my true son, are treating me like trash.

They are forcing me to sign all my wealth over to them."

He said, took a long breath, and continued. "Jackson, I love your mother, I truly do; what happened years ago was a mistake."

Jackson! Only his mom ever called him that. "How did you find out about me?" Jack asked.

"A few years later, I learned that your Mom had a son, his name is Jackson.

And that you both were alive.

I had never met you but felt strong emotions about you.

I looked for you and your mom but I couldn't find you and I never stopped looking.

Son, I think about you all the time, every day, wishing I could find you.

And now this morning, I'm so happy to finally meet you, my first child."

"Stop calling me your son," Jack snaps, shuffling his hair.

"I know you're angry at me but please forgive me.

"Of course, I'm f *cking angry at you for trying to get me into your family issues.

Listen, if you have a problem with your wife and son, why don't you go sort it out and stop dragging me and my mom into this."

"Sure, you have every right to be angry, but I realize now you and your mum were more important to me.

I shouldn't have treated you the way I did, it was just a big mistake."

"How am I supposed to believe you?" Jack asked.

"Here," Harry Reynolds said, stretching his arm and handing Jack an envelope.

Jack tore it open and began going through its contents as Harry Reynolds continued, "Inside is a picture of me and your mom on our first date."

Jack brought out the picture and began looking at it, confirming that the old man was telling the truth – a picture of his younger mom and the young billionaire Harry Reynolds.

"And then you will find a DNA test result, it was taken when you were in the hospital.

I had someone run the test, and it confirmed it was true," Harry said.

What! Jack was shocked.

Mr. Harry Reynolds, the richest business tycoon in the world is his father and he is the heir to the Reynolds Dynasty.

"I need you to do something for me, one last wish," Harry demanded weakly, his voice barely audible.

"What do you want me to do?"Jack asked.

Harry said weakly, "I want you to be part of the family, I want you to succeed me, my will, everything belongs to you.

I've sent for my lawyer, Barr. Walter.

He has my will.

When he arrives, sign it, and everything will be yours."

Immediately the door swung open, and a young man about his age stood there, accompanied by a stern-looking woman.

Could this be his half-brother and his mother? Perhaps they had come to claim the will.

Dawn hadn't even cracked the sky yet when Tasha Connors leaned against the long glass window of Reynolds HQ’s executive floor, her phone pressed to her ear. The city below was still wrapped in blue-black shadows, headlights scattered like moving stars through the streets. On the other end of the line, a woman’s voice answered.“This is Marcy.”Tasha smiled. “Marcy, it’s been a long time.”Marcy Grey had once been the sharpest project auditor in Hamsville before a scandal — orchestrated by Olivia’s brother, Chris Rhoades — cost her her job and reputation. Tasha had always kept tabs on people like Marcy. The discarded. The angry. The overlooked. They were the most dangerous kind.“I heard about the funeral,” Marcy said cautiously. “And about Jack.”“He’s not hiding anymore,” Tasha replied smoothly. “And neither should you.”A pause.“What do you need?” Marcy asked.Tasha’s smile turned razor-thin. “There’s a housing development project in the East District. Under Goldmark Industries. Bu

Declan Reynolds sat alone in a dimly lit corner office on the 25th floor — not the grand suite he once imagined for himself, but a small, inherited space filled with the heavy stench of aged leather and old whiskey. The private suite on the 27th floor of Reynolds HQ had once belonged to Harry Reynolds. After his retirement, Agnes had claimed it for herself. Dark mahogany shelves lined the walls, each filled with expensive trinkets from decades of influence. Now, those relics felt like mocking reminders of what she’d just lost.Agnes stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows, her reflection sharp in the glass, city lights still dim in the weak morning mist. She gripped a crystal glass of dark bourbon — not her usual drink, but this was not an ordinary morning.Declan paced behind her, his jaw tight. “We should have stopped him before this. Called Hart sooner. He will bury him when we have the chance.”Agnes’s voice was calm but cold. “And risk an investigation while the old man’s body was still warm? No. That boy was supposed to crawl back to whatever gutter he came from.”“Well, he didn’t,” Declan snapped. “He embarrassed us. Humiliated us in front of the board.”Agnes turned then, her gaze sharp

Tasha moved behind him, her sharp gaze reflecting his in the glass.“You don’t have to do this,” she said quietly.“Yes,” Jack replied, voice even, “I do.”The press conference was set for 7:00 a.m., timed deliberately to hijack the business news cycle and force every publication, every broadcast station, to open with his announcement.Harry Reynolds’ only biological son, once dismissed as a nobody, would officially claim the throne. But that wasn’t the real battle today. The real war would be fought against ghosts — Agnes, Declan, Victor Hart, the board, and the ones Jack hadn’t yet identified. And later, much later, his ex-wife O

The city lights bled against the evening mist as the hour crept past 8 p.m. Hamsville’s financial district, once teeming with evening suits and the hum of office chatter, had quieted into an eerie, watchful hush. Only the occasional flicker of a passing car disturbed the stillness. In Reynolds HQ’s top floor office, Jack Reynolds stood by the window, the glow of the city stretching out before him. The card with the words “We see you” rested on the glass table behind him, its message gnawing at the edge of his thoughts. He could feel the building watching him. Not through cameras, not through security, but through the eyes of those whose loyalties he hadn’t yet uncovered.Tasha stepped in quietly, her sharp heels muffled against the thick carpet.
