It was another hectic morning at the Rhoades Estate, in the city of Hamsville. Jack, a young man in his twenties found himself in an endless cycle of chores. He plays the role of a housekeeper and an errand boy despite being married to one of the Rhoades' daughters. "Jack, clean my bathroom and organize the pantry,” Amy Rhoades, Jack's sister-in-law commanded from the living room. "Sure thing, madam," Jack replied. Damien, Jack's wife's younger brother added, "Hurry up, it's 9 o'clock! Breakfast should have been ready ages ago, you lazy..." "I'll get there soon," Jack responded, resisting the urge to remind Damien of their age difference. "You better be, lazy ass," Damien who was engrossed in his video game said. Just then, Jack's phone rang. The same unknown number that had been pestering him since last night. "Hello?" Jack answered and placed the phone between his shoulder and neck while continuing to wash the dishes with his hands. "Hello, is this Jack Reynold

Olivia walked into the living room, carrying her fancy handbag. She was dressed in a flirty see-through sleeveless top, tight blue jeans, and black boots. No one said anything when she asked what was going on. Olivia was curious and a bit worried. She wanted to know why her husband was lying on the floor. She knew her parents had always wanted to get rid of Jack so she could marry someone wealthy but she didn't want to get married to someone who would control her.She felt disappointed with her husband for annoying her family, "What did you do this time?" She turned to Jack and asked him."I... I accidentally spilled coffee on Amy, I didn't mean to, Olivia." Jack said and avoided making eye contact with her. Olivia turned to her elder brother and said, "Enough, Chris." "I'm not finished with him yet," Chris stated as he continued to hit Jack."Chris, that's enough. Put down the belt." Olivia ordered Chris. She dropped her bags on the table and tried to stop him.Just then, Jack sta

The drive back home, was quiet as Olivia and Jack were not used to having good healthy communication. She spares not a single word for him other than ordering him about. As they were still on their way, Olivia's phone rang. It was one of her male friends calling. She picked up her phone, and smiled as she answered in a flirty tone, "Hello, sweetie." "Hey babe! What's going on? You sound different today." The caller asked."I'm just coming back from the hospital with this good-for-nothing husband of mine. He's been out making trouble again in the house," she said, glancing at Jack. It was obvious she was trying to hurt his feelings."I miss you terribly." "I miss you too, and I can't wait to see you again." "Take care, darling. We'll catch up soon. Love you." "Bye, I love you too, baby," she concluded the call with a smirk. Somehow, Jack felt his heart break when he heard Olivia flirting with someone on the phone. He knew their marriage was just a contract, and she didn't lov
Chapter 4
Olivia was getting ready for a business meeting when Jack entered the room with the envelope in hand. Noticing the instant change in his mood, she asked, "What's that? Let me see!" Jack walked up and showed her the letter. "I just received this now," he exclaimed. She looked at the letter but couldn't show any sign of happiness. "Why are you so happy about it?" she asked. "Because I plan to open a business with the money," Jack replied. "No! The money would be sent to my account instead," she said, adjusting her clothes. "What do you mean by that?" Jack asked. He is a millionaire now, and he would not let them ride him as they used to. In no time, he would be able to save up enough money and pay her back because he is done and fed up with all of the Rhoades. She stopped what she was doing and looked him in the face. "I mean that the money automatically belongs to me." "You think so?" Jack asked, putting the letter back in its envelope. "I'm afraid one of the terms of our co

Meanwhile, a black SUV pulled up at the Rhoades mansion, and three hefty guys dressed in black got out and headed to the building. These were the guys Chris had texted earlier, and they belonged to the most dangerous gang in Hamsville. Bang! Bang!! Bang!!! They knocked heavily on the door without bothering to use the doorbell. Chris got up to welcome them and shook hands with them. "Where is he?" One of them who seemed like their leader asked Chris. “Over there!” Chris replied, pointing at Jack on the floor. "Get up!" One of them yelled at Jack, delivering a hard kick to Jack's ribs. Jack hesitated to stand up, but the men in black quickly bundled and carried him out of the living room, and loaded him into their SUV. In a split second, the black SUV drove off into the night. When they got far off, they alighted from the SUV and began walking towards a secluded area. "Strangle him already!" one of them said. "Please, I'm innocent… please don't kill me… please," J
Chapter 6
"Hello, son," Harry Reynolds said weakly as he turned to look at Jack. Jack frowned. What are these people saying now? Harry Reynold's son? He came here for a job, not some kind of expensive prank. "By SON you mean?" Jack asked, rolling his eyes confused. "I could as well tell you now," Harry said after taking what seemed to be a deep breath. "Tell me what?" "It was something I did many years ago," Harry Reynolds replied, wiping his sweaty forehead. "What does it have to do with me?" "Years ago, when I started making my billions…" Harry said and paused as if thinking to remember how long. "I met your mom, Jennifer, she was really pretty. Her eyes were beautiful, her hair was dark, and she had a nice figure. She had everything that made her special…" Jack was surprised! His mom's name is Jennifer. How does this man know his mom? Is he really his son? "...At that time, she worked in a restaurant where I used to go to eat. She was kind and polite. She was one of

"Where is the will? I want you to hand over everything to my son, old fool," Agnes, the wife of Harry, was shouting at the top of her voice. "You will regret treating me the way you are, Agnes." Harry Reynolds said weakly. "Why don't you just die already? Why are you still alive?" It was obvious that things weren't good with the billionaire and his family. These people would do anything for greed. “Stop with the insults!” Jack barked. "Who are you?" Declan Reynolds demanded of Jack. "You wouldn't want to know, would you?" "How did you get in here, and what have you stolen from this room?" "I don't know what you are talking about." "Son, he's too dense for this. Let's just search his pockets!" Agnes impatiently suggested. Declan immediately went into Jack's pockets. "Do you have to do this?" Jack frowned. He hadn't expected to be accosted by the Reynolds family so soon. They were merciless. After some time, they found nothing they wanted in his pockets. "Fuck

Jack followed the doctor down the hallway to Harry's hospital room. Upon entering, he was struck by how frail Harry looked, hooked up to various machines. Harry managed a weak smile, closing his eyes briefly. When he opened them again, he turned to face Jack. "There will be a board meeting tomorrow in the company and I need you to represent me there," Harry said, gently touching his son. "You would make a good CEO." "Thank you, father," Jack replied, his voice trembling. "But I don't think I will go, not when you're like this." Harry nodded weakly. "I understand," he said. "But you can't let this stop you, Jack. You are now the heir and it would be a shame to let it go to the hands of your stepbrother." Jack swallowed hard, "I'll try," he said, looking down at his hands. "But it won't be easy. Besides, I don't really know much about the whole stuff." Harry smiled again. "I know it won't be," he said. " Take Tasha as your valet, she will show you everything you need to kno
Chapter 9
Harry Reynolds was buried the next day just like he had planned in a tomb he built beforehand. Not many people were in attendance, only a few family friends and well wishers all dressed in black. Mrs. Reynolds and her son, Declan didn't come despite Jack sending them a message. The procession was fast and Jack cried as his father, who he just knew about a few days ago, was being lowered to the ground. Some people who saw him crying began to whisper among themselves. "Look! It's the illegitimate son. He's shedding crocodile tears." "What does he know about Harry?" "This guy is just here for the money. I wonder how he managed to trick Harry." Others thought his tears were genuine. "Shut up now, don't say what you don't know.” Jack heard them and ignored them. Tasha was behind him at all times. "Don't worry, Young master. Your dad wouldn't have wanted you to cry." Jack nodded and cleaned his eyes with a handkerchief. "I know right? But it's hard. Especially knowing he wasn't e
Chapter 10
Jack didn’t move as the black SUV sped off into the night. The envelope—Agnes’s legal threat—sat heavy in his lap, still unopened. The headlights of their own car cast long shadows across the road, and for a few moments, the only sound was the quiet tick of the cooling engine.Tasha, sitting across from him in the backseat, broke the silence. “Do you want me to open it?”Jack blinked, his hands still frozen on the paper. “No… I need to see it myself.”He peeled open the envelope with careful fingers, the crisp snap of the seal breaking sounding louder than it should’ve in the silent car. Inside was a stack of pristine white papers, heavy with legal ink and arrogant intent. He scanned the first page."Petition for Emergency Injunction: Inheritance Dispute Between Agnes Reynolds (Primary Spouse and Executor) vs. Jackson Turner (Illegitimate Claimant).”His eyes narrowed.Agnes wasn’t just contesting the will. She was trying to erase him.“I knew she’d strike,” Tasha said, peering over h
