James sighed heavily, leaning into his Maureen's embrace

"I'm holding up, Mom," he replied, his voice tinged with exhaustion. "It's just been a lot to deal with."

"I also heard the news, what manner of evil is this? How could someone be so wicked to tarnish the image of an innocent man"

Maureen looked at James sympathetically, her eyes reflecting the pain she felt for her son. "My son I can imagine what you're going through," she said softly.

"I know the son I raised is not responsible for any of those things they are accusing you of"

Thank you, Mom," James said, his voice choked with emotion. "Your belief in me means everything."

Maureen squeezed his hand reassuringly. "We will get through this together, James. We've faced far worse challenges before and conquered them, this is no different."

"You look hungry did you have anything to eat for lunch?"

James shook his head slowly.

"Come on inside, I have prepared your favorite meal"
