Chapter - 02

Suddenly, Mathew felt the urge to rush out of the toilet and see for himself if it was true or not. He wanted to confront Stacy. But he could not do so. What if all of it was nothing but a prank? His mind was in chaos.

Should he just go straight forward and ask Stacy, 'What are you doing with Georgie?' Or should he go to their table and act as if it was all coincidental?

Mathew hated this. The fact that he had to doubt Stacy made him feel worse than anything in his life. Mathew had never ever felt this bad, even when Mathew watched boys his age enjoys their lives while he was stuck running between jobs.

"Matt..." While Mathew dreaded over his doubts, Barry walked in happily, fanning himself with the few notes in his hand.

"Where are they?" Mathew grabbed Barry by his shoulders and asked. His voice was loud enough to scare Barry.

"They? Who?" Barry tried to get away from Mathew and asked. But Mathew had no time to explain. He pushed Barry away and dashed out of the toilet.

And he finally had his wish fulfilled. Stacy was standing right outside the restaurant. And even better, she was all alone. Mathew didn't have to worry about walking on eggshells around her anymore.

"Stacy," Mathew called out to his girlfriend in the sweetest way he could. But one could easily feel the hesitation in his voice.

Hearing someone call her name, the girl turned. But when she saw Mathew, she looked shocked instead of happy. She had never thought in her wildest dreams that she would come across Mathew here and now of all times.

"A... Mathew?" Trying to confirm that she was not dreaming about him, Stacy called him out, "What are you doing here?"

"I should be the one asking that," Mathew walked up to her and asked, raising his eyebrows, "What are you doing here?"

"I... I was here for dinner," the girl said, and she looked down, averting her gaze from his. It was then that she saw his uniform. It was the same as the guy serving them, 'Does he work here?' Stacy thought.

"With who?" Mathew pried further.

"With a friend... She needed some help from me," Stacy lied.

"She? Weren't you with Georgie just now?" Mathew caught on to Stacy's words and said.

'Shit!' Stacy cursed, but she tried not to show on her face, "Did I say she? I meant he... I am still not good with grammar... hahaha... I was with Georgie indeed." Stacy tried to cover up her lie.

"He was having some girl problem, so he asked me for some tips and all. You know... Since we are in the same class and all," Stacy hurriedly cooked up a story.

"What about you... You never told me you were working here," Stacy changed the topic and asked.

"It has not been long," Mathew said, "I planned to bring you here for dinner on our anniversary as a surprise. Huh... But instead, you dropped a bomb on me. Nice..." Mathew spoke with a meaningful smile.

"Mathew..." Hearing Mathew, Stacy had a feeling that he knew everything. How? She had no idea. After all, she did not see him anywhere during the dinner. As for the broadcast, Stacy had no idea that such a thing even happened. But however he knew, Mathew knew, and there was no running away from it.

"Let's not talk about it here," Stacy said, "I will explain everything to you. Leave for now," Stacy tried to make Mathew leave. Georgie was going to be here any second, and she was afraid of him meeting Mathew.

"Why? Don't want me to meet your new..." Mathew felt hurt by how Stacy behaved sneakily. He was about to say it out straight without beating around the bush when a loud sound came from behind him.

"Grrrr... Grrrr..."

Hearing the loud noise, Mathew instinctively turned around to look who it was. And soon, a matte black car with a roaring engine stopped in front of them. And it was not just any car, it was the car of Mathew's dream. Something he wanted to have but knew he couldn't have.

While Mathew admired the car, momentarily forgetting about Stacy, the door of the car opened, and a boy stepped out of it. It was Georgie. Georgie wanted to make a cool entrance in front of Stacy, but when he saw a guy standing with his girlfriend, he frowned and walked towards them.

"Mathew?" When Georgie got close enough to see the face of the boy, he recognised Mathew, "What are you doing here?"

"Nothing... We just met, and we were just talking, nothing else," before Mathew could reply, Stacy spoke up, "Mathew works here."

"Ahh... So you work here," Georgie exclaimed in realisation, "I guess you guys are really friends. I have seen you guys in school talking to each other."

"Friends... Yes... Yes... Actually, our families have been friends for a long time," Stacy nodded hurriedly, agreeing with Georgie, "And because of them... We are... You know... Acquainted."

"Great... Well, it's getting late, and I need to drop you home as well," Georgie said as he looked at Mathew and smiled, "Don't worry... I will take good care of your friend."

"She is not my friend," Maybe it was the way Georgie spoke, or it was his words, but Mathew's blood boiled when he heard Georgie. He didn't want to make a scene in front of everyone, but he could not hold it in any longer.

"She is my girlfriend."
