The Ryu Dynasty Returns

Chapter 13:

Elias gives a conceited smile and nods. “Of course, Young Master Wang.”

As Elias walks away from the men, Alyssa follows behind him, her eyes flaming with anger. She draws her brother back with a hand.

“Are you seriously going to bring Odessa to him?”

Elias looked at her, annoyed as he shakes her off.

“Young Master Wang isn’t interested in you but still, family comes first. Do you know what this could do to our family? Once we get the Young Master Wang to endorse our family then we will get benefits and even respect from others.”

“Elias! You’re so selfish!” Alyssa breathed out in anger. “You don’t even care about me at all! You’re choosing her over your own sister?”

Elias rolled his eyes and let out a groan. “Don’t be so stupid, Alyssa. Look at this way, Young Master Wang only finds Odessa interesting because she’s married. Men like him enjoy the chase.”

He allowed his words sink into her before he continued.

“And when Young Master Wang realizes that she won’t leave that idiot husband of hers, he will lose interest once he does, you will be the obvious choice.”

Alyssa pauses as she considers Elias’ words.

“Really?”

Elias nods confidently. “Who else is there? You’re pretty, younger and unmarried. If you’re patient, you will be the one standing beside him.”

At those words, Alyssa’s anger slowly melts away as her face breaks into a smug smile. It turns out Odessa was just going to be place holder. She smothers her dress quickly, regaining back her composure.

“You’re right… Odessa is just taking my place for the main time only to get used.”

“Exactly,” Elias drawls out.

They both approach the Chen’s table in high spirits. Old Lady Chen looks at them both with a raised, crooked brow.

“Grandma, Young Master Wang wishes to meet someone from our family.”

Old Lady Chen light up with a smile. Ever since she had heard that Orion had ignored Alyssa, she had been in a sour mood since then.

Even though the Wang family weren’t in the same league as the Zhao family, they were still a reputable family in the city.

Aurelius’s face instantly broke into a smile.

“I knew Young Master Wang had such great taste,” he looked over at Alyssa with a light frown. “What are you still doing here? Go. Don’t keep him waiting.”

“I knew it. A man of Young Master Wang’s standing would naturally notice Alyssa. Alyssa, you have done this family proud. Go and bring Young Master Wang to me,” Old Lady Chen said with her head held high.

Aurelius laughs proudly.

“Didn’t I tell you all? My daughter has always stood out among the younger generation.”

The other guests around them curiousity were piqued when they heard the Young Master Wang’s name from Old Lady Chen’s and Aurelius’ lips.

“Jake Wang is interested in the Chen family?”

“Looks like the Chen family is about to rise again.”

“This is truly surprising. How can a rich and well respected man be interested in such a lowly family?”

“Exactly. Men like him should only get involved with families who would be on the same par with him,” a woman whispered with a sour look.

Aurelius’s face went red with rage when the whispers reached his ears.

“What do you mean?!” He sounded with anger at the women who were muttering. They flinched a little, regaining their composure.

“Are you trying to mock our family?” He hissed. “Just you wait, when my daughter gets engaged to Young Master Wang, I shall remember your families and make sure the Wang family cuts ties with all of you!”

Aurelius allowed himself to get carried away by the thought of the benefits they would receive and he shouts out for the surrounding tables to hear.

“Once Alyssa gets married into the Wang family, our Chen family will once again stand among the Kairen City’s elites.”

Elias and Alyssa exchanged worried glances. Some of the guests began to congratulate them both after all, who wouldn’t want a slice of the pie?

“Grandma,” Elias called out, clearing his thought.

Nobody hears him.

“Grandma!”

“What is it?” Old Lady Chen snapped. “Can’t you see that we are still speaking?”

Elias pursed his lips before saying, “Young Master Wang is not asking for Alyssa.”

Aurelius turned around with a raised brow, the smiles on both his face and Old Lady Chen’s stiffened.

Even the guests who offered congratulations looked at one another with confusion.

“Then who?”

Elias swallows hard. His father had just used Alyssa’s name to brag just now. Saying it out loud wouldn’t be like a slap to the face?

“Speak up boy!”

“Odessa.”
