“Where am I?” Shen Wuyin muttered.
He snapped his eyes open, only to be met with a film of blood clouding his vision.
The ringing in his ears slowly faded, replaced by unfamiliar voices filled with scorn and ridicule.
“What a fool! He thought he could actually fight Mo Xuan and make it out alive?”
“And the punk didn't even last a minute in the ring.”
A chorus of cackles filled the air.
Slowly, Shen Wuyin rose to his feet, his muscles protesting with a series of dry cracks.
The arena fell into stunned silence before a wave of gasps erupted from the crowd.
“What? Yun Li didn't die from that blow?” The commentator’s voice boomed through the speakers.
“Oh this gets even better!!” someone from the audience called out, excitement flashing in his gaze.
The audience fixed their eyes on the rising man.
Shen Wuyin wiped the blood from his face.
“This body is barely holding together,” he thought, pain flaring through every inch of him.
Brother!”
A young woman's desperate cry ripped through the air.
He turned toward the sound, and he saw her—
No, he saw them. They were his sisters?
Almost immediately, a torrent of memories surged through his mind, followed by a splitting headache.
“I made a mistake,” he remembered.
This was not the body or place he had planned to reincarnate into.
It wasn't the time either.
Moments ago, he had been brutally attacked and wounded in his throne room. By whom or what, he could no longer recall.
All he remembered was casting a reincarnation spell to save himself.
He lowered his gaze to his body.
“So this is Yun Li. A shattered dantian, sealed meridians, and no spirit root.” Shen Wuyin inspected his new body.
Before him stood Mo Xuan, a high-grade cultivator from the Formidable sect in the region, Tiaxuan Sect.
Mo Xuan tilted his head slightly, amusement dancing in his gaze.
“Scum!” A sinister grin tugged at his lips. “You really don’t know when to quit, huh?”
“Please don’t hurt him!” Mei pleaded, her voice trembling with agony.
But she was ignored.
Shen Wuyin locked eyes with him—
Memories of his new body flooded into his mind.
The previous owner owed these people money, and they planned to kill him and sell off his sisters.
A dark shadow crossed his pupils, like a demon locking onto its prey.
“Let's see how much qi you can hold.” Shen Wuyin muttered, gathering mana around his body.
Mo Xuan launched forward, fist aimed at Shen Wuyin’s face.
“You'd regret this scum.”
Shen Wuyin leaned aside by just an inch. Mo Xuan’s fist whistled past his cheek.
The audience gasped.
“Did Yun Li just dodged that?”
“Where did he get that agility from?” Mo Xuan frowned.
Before he could think further, Shen Wuyin drove a punch into his cheek, sending him flying across the ring.
Mo Xuan hit the ground with a sickening crack.
A sharp groan escaped him.
The audience jolted to their feet.
“Mo Xuan got hit by a commoner with no dantian?”
In the Golden Wager Pavilion, sect elders and wealthy merchants sat on gold benches, eyes locked on a screen before them.
Bang!
An elder slammed the table as they shifted their gaze to Shaun Lian, the owner of the Yizhi Shengsi Zhan tournament.
“This isn’t what we paid for!”
“We paid for entertainment, not to watch our champion get beaten!”
“Mo Xuan, our champion for twelve Yizhi Shengsi Zhan tournaments, is getting whooped by a low life?”
“Shaun Lian!”
Shaun Lian swallowed hard and took a step back.
“Please calm down. I’ll handle it.”
Before they could respond, he walked out with Shen Yi behind him.
Back at the ring,
Shen Wuyin walked towards Mo Xuan’s fallen body, his cold gaze locking on him.
“I wonder how you became a high grade cultivator,” he sneered.
Mo Xuan trembled as he realised couldn't activate his healing technique. With every attempt he made, the more pain shot through his spine.
“This can’t be!” Mo Xuan growled, eyes bloodshot.
“I blocked your datian as a little reward for knocking me out the first time.” Shen Wuyin smiled.
It was a sickening smile. One that created Nightmares in Mo Xuan's mind.
Shen Wuyin drove a kick to Mo Xuan's head, his leg was covered with an armour of qi, cracking the man's head instantly.
Mo Xuan drew his final breath.
“Brother?” Mei and Qing's lips parted in disbelief.
Shen Wuyin turned toward them, locking onto the men holding them.
A cold stare shattered their resolve.
They immediately released the girls.
“Brother!!!”
They ran to him, tears in their eyes.
“Thank you for lending me your body,” Shen Wuyin muttered in his thoughts. “For that, I'd take care of your family.”
They hugged him.
“Brother Yun!!”
Shen Wuyin looked ahead, noticing Shaun Lian rushing down with armed men behind him.
“Mei and Qing, we need to go.”
He grabbed their hands.
Before they could react, he lifted them and moved through the stunned crowd.
