“The Guixin Beast.”
The beast towered over Shen Wuyin. Its body was covered in dark violet scales that trembled with every breath it took.
Its dragon eyes narrowed, locking onto him.
A faint haze of memory surfaced in Shen Wuyin's mind.
The Guixin Beast had once been an immortal being. Her defiance and conspiracy against an ancient goddess had condemned her to this monstrous form.
Shen Wuyin studied it carefully.
"It awakened right after I completed the Spirit Jade Crystal summoning."
His gaze fixed on its eyes.
"Then she must be the carrier of the spirit jade crystal."
A brilliant green sparkle glimmered deep within its pupils.
Smoke escaped its nostrils, carrying scorching heat.
Shen Wuyin swiftly bent down and picked up a sharp stone shard.
Pew!
Several scales shot from the beast's body. They crossed the distance in an instant.
Shen Wuyin channeled qi into his legs and darted aside.
The scales buried themselves into the summit beneath him.
The beast's gaze never left him.
"It has to be in its eyes. That sparkle gives it away."
More scales erupted from its body. This time, a dark mist followed them.
Every patch of ground they struck withered instantly.
"Poison."
Shen Wuyin dodged left and right, narrowly avoiding the barrage.
"I need to..."
Bang!
Something blurred.
A tremendous force slammed into his ribs, blasting him across the summit. He crashed into one of the boulders.
Blood spilled from his mouth. A sharp groan escaped him.
The beast's tail slowly retracted into its body.
That was its surprise attack—Its tail could extend and retract at will.
Before Shen Wuyin could recover, five scales pierced into him, scattering his qi barrier.
One lodged near his heart. The remaining four sank deep into his flesh across his limbs.
A ragged grunt escaped his lips.
Dark veins immediately spread from the wounds. He pushed himself back to his feet. His limbs trembled.
The poison surged through his meridians and rushed toward his dantian.
Shen Wuyin dropped to one knee.
Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.
Dark veins wrapped around his heart like living chains. His skin darkened.
Despite the agony, he refused to release the stone shard in his grip.
His fingers tightened around it.
"I need that jade crystal no matter what."
He spat a mouthful of black blood.
Qi wrapped around his body.
Pew!
Another scale shot toward him.
It pierced straight through his qi barrier.
Shen Wuyin lowered himself, narrowly avoided being struck in the eye.
The poison continued spreading throughout his body.
Every heartbeat carried it deeper into his meridians.
His breathing grew heavier.
"There has to be a weak point." He mumbled.
He charged forward.
The instant the beast attacked again, Shen Wuyin slid beneath its body and coated the stone shard with the Fire Technique he had taken from Zhang Chi. He drove the flaming shard into its scales.
The Guixin Beast roared.
Almost immediately, the wound began closing.
Shen Wuyin's eyes narrowed.
Its chest remained completely still. Only its back expanded and contracted.
Its heart wasn't where it should be.
"I have to pierce its heart."
The wound sealed completely.
Dark smoke poured from the beast's nostrils.
Its eyes burned with rage.
Then it charged.
The entire summit trembled beneath its weight.
Shen Wuyin turned and ran, qi propelling him forward.
The more qi he channeled, the faster the poison raced through his meridians.
Dark blood seeped from the corners of his eyes.
His vision began to blur.
Still, he forced his body forward.
When the beast closed in, Shen Wuyin suddenly released a burst of qi.
His body shot high into the air.
Pain exploded through his chest. His heartbeat weakened.
Ignoring it, he descended toward the beast, plunging the flaming sword into its back.
He dragged it downward with all his strength.
Scales split apart. Flesh tore open, revealing a massive dark violet heart beneath.
Before the wound could regenerate, Shen Wuyin drove the shard deep into the exposed heart.
A deafening roar shook the mountain.
The beast thrashed violently.
Hundreds of scales exploded from its body.
Before Shen Wuyin could evade them, one pierced straight into his forehead.
Everything went dark.
A fragment of his memory surfaced. The poison of the Guixin Beast did not merely kill; it transformed souls.
Shen Wuyin fell from its back and crashed onto the shattered summit.
Moments later, the Guixin Beast collapsed.
Its enormous body struck the mountain with a thunderous crash, billowing dust into the sky.
Its lifeless head slammed into the crack where Shen Wuyin had fallen.
A sickening crunch echoed as its weight crushed his spine.
A groan tore from his throat.
Every movement he made felt like the end.
Yet he crawled forward. His arms shook violently. His knees buckled beneath him.
"Failing is not an option."
Using the last of his strength, Shen Wuyin seized another stone shard.
He drove it into the beast's eye.
Blood splashed.
With a savage pull, he gouged the eye out and held it in trembling hands.
Then he peeled away the outer layers.
A brilliant crystal emerged.
"The Spirit Jade Crystal."
The crystal shone with dazzling radiance.
It was no larger than a fist, yet pure spiritual energy flowed endlessly from it.
Shen Wuyin staggered to his feet.
Dark blood gushed from the corners of his lips and eyes. Blackened veins snaked across his body, pulsing ominously.
A guttural groan tore from his throat as the whites of his eyes vanished, consumed by an endless, pitch-black darkness.
A round of applause echoed across the summit.
Five figures stepped out from the shadows.
The five high-grade cultivators materialized with spirit weapons in hand.
Spears. Swords. Sledgehammers. Axes.
"You've done well," one of them said. "Now hand over the Spirit Jade Crystal."
A smirk appeared on his bloodstained face.
"Peasants."
The five cultivators stepped forward.
Their spirit weapons flashed.
Each attack drove Shen Wuyin closer to the edge of the summit.
His battered heart finally gave out.
One of the cultivators snatched the crystal from his grasp.
"A filth you are," he sneered. "A filth you'll remain."
Then, without hesitation, they hurled him from the cliff.

Why wasn’t I informed about it?” Lin Xue lowered himself beside Luo Yuyan, his gaze locked on the ground as though it held the answer. “His mother is Xiao Lengyue, one of the merchants at the main market.” Luo Yuyan glared at him for a second, sending shivers down Lin Xue’s spine. “He is only here for a visit,” Lin Xue said quickly. “He asked to participate in the Meet, nothing more…” “To show off,” Luo Yuyan cut in sharply.
