They moved swiftly through the air, their eyes keen as they searched for safe ground.

“There’s a cave ahead,” Shen Wuyin said, his focus locked ahead. His grip on Xie Linger tightened, pulling her closer to his warmth.

Her hair fell loosely in the air, her hands hanging limply at her sides as her head tilted to one side. Her lips were slightly parted, drawing Shen Wuyin’s attention.

He stared down at her, warmth flickering in his gaze.

“Hang in there,” he muttered briefly before returning his gaze to the cave ahead.

Once they reached the cave, Shen Wuyin landed first, gently, as though he had something fragile in his hands.

With a dull thud, the others followed suit, their gazes fixed on Shen Wuyin.

“I’ll go in first,” Shen Wuyin said, his voice resolute, leaving no room for debate.

Tang Luo crossed the distance between them.

“Be careful,” he murmured with a curt nod.

One of the men stepped forward, his features twisted with concern.

“I’ll take Xie Linger,” he said, extending his hands towards her.

Shen Wuyin leaned forward, carefully placing her in the man's arms.

Now standing at the entrance of the cave, he took a deep breath and shut his eyes.

Qi swirled from his dantian into his meridians. A faint glow radiated from his eyelids.

Drawing in another breath, he opened his eyes. The spiritual energy here was moderate, and he couldn't sense the presence of any potential threats.

“This should be safe for Xie Linger and the injured others to recover,” he said to himself.

Unlike mortal caves, this one had a curved opening. Its height was almost that of a twelve-year-old, revealing little of what awaited inside.

Without giving it much thought, Shen Wuyin stepped in.

The moment he entered, pitch darkness swallowed him whole, almost sealing off the faint light from the entrance.

The air inside felt warmer against his skin, yet it was completely odorless.

With an immediate flick of his wrist, red flames flickered to life, hovering above his palm and driving out the darkness.

The walls were as clear as crystal, reflecting the radiance of the flames.

The ground was made of pure coal tar, its surface impeccably smooth. Small boulders sat at the corners like couches, adding their own layers of beauty to the cave.

It was almost as if the cave were a living room—or a high-end executive chamber.

Rolling his shoulders, Shen Wuyin let out a sigh before returning to the others outside.

“It’s safe,” he announced.

“That’s a relief,” Xiang Mu breathed.

He reached Shen Wuyin first, the injured man still by his side.

Without a word, he lowered himself, arching his back as they made their way into the cave.

Flick!

The sound of a matchbox being lit echoed faintly from inside.

“Whoa!” Xiang Mu gaped, overwhelmed by the beauty of the cave.

The others entered in twos.

Inside, they stood at the centre, their eyes widened and jaws slack.

“Are you sure this isn’t the chamber of a fallen god?” Xiang Mu asked, genuinely curious.

The others took a step back, fear gripping them.

The man holding Xie Linger reached for one of the boulders at the corner. With one precise movement, he carefully lowered her onto it.

Shen Wuyin closed the distance between them. Immediately, he activated his healing technique over Xie Linger.

“She is badly hurt,” the man murmured.

Shen Wuyin barely acknowledged his words. He knelt by her side, his mind elsewhere.

A torrent of memories from his past life flooded his mind.

A lady lay on a high step in the exact same position Xie Linger was in. Thick waves of immaculate white hair rested at her sides. Her fingers twitched.

Shen Wuyin knelt beside her, his hands clasped together in a plea as he muttered words he couldn't hear.

His gaze moved swiftly across the woman's figure. A thick fog hovered over her features, concealing her identity.

His gaze landed on her toes.

“They were gone.”

The moment he uttered those words, an overwhelming spiritual presence filled the room in his memory. Its intensity was so great that his head dipped forcefully, just enough to keep him alive.

“She is in this state because of you!”

A deep masculine voice thundered, its intensity sending the room into a racket.

The loud rattling of vases pulled Shen Wuyin back into reality.

“Yun!” Tang Luo tapped his shoulder lightly.

Shen Wuyin shot him a cold stare, cold enough to snatch the breath from Tang Luo's lungs.

Instantly, Tang Luo raised his hands in the air.

“I'm sorry. It's just... you seemed rather engrossed in your thoughts,” he stuttered, fear overwhelming him.

Shen Wuyin rose to his feet.

“Everyone, heal up,” he said.

“Already at it,” they responded.

“I wanted to ask...” Tang Luo stepped to the side, his gaze locked on Shen Wuyin. “Or say, rather. The princess also needs your healing. It appears to be more effective,” he said.

While Shen Wuyin was engrossed in his memories, Tang Luo had placed Mo Yueli on the boulder opposite Xie Linger's. Xiaomei knelt beside her, tears flowing uncontrollably from her eyes.

Just then, Mo Yueli coughed weakly.

“Dad...” Her voice was barely audible.

Batting her eyelids, she reached out weakly to Xiaomei.

Tang Luo rushed over to her.

“Princess,” he breathed, relief washing over him.

The moment Mo Yueli caught a glimpse of him, she jerked upright, her sudden movement startling Xiaomei.

“Please, lie down.” Tang Luo held her shoulder, attempting to guide her back down.

But instead, she shrugged his hands off, her gaze burning.

“Take your filthy hands off me!” she snapped, her voice thundering through the cave.
