Chapter 03 - Awakening

Eren who came out of the luxurious car, stood marveling at the dungeon portal that has formed in the middle of a forest.

It looked like a pitch-black space covered by blue energy!

“This marvelous portal could very well become my grave…haha”

He said sarcastically, giving a wry laugh at his own fate!

The driver he bought was still standing in the distance as he ordered.

Actually, Eren told him to go back but the man refused, saying it was his duty to take him anywhere he wants.

“Julia, Scarlet, and this stupid driver…. My life isn’t completely bad I think”

He murmured as a smile unconsciously found its way onto his face.

Even in the middle of all his sufferings, there were still some kind and honest people because of whom he could endure that hell.

He was getting emotional remembering all that...

But suppressing his further thoughts he walked near the portal, there were some people from the ‘Awakener’s Association’ that managed the portals!

As soon as they saw Eren, a man came near him…

“Are you here to raid the dungeon?”

He was a bulky man whose belly was as big as that of a pregnant woman, His looks were average with a face that people would find hard to remember.

The Awakener’s Association has made it compulsory for an individual to have an Awakener’s license if he or she wanted to enter any dungeon.

It was to stop suicide cases and to prevent mindless people from going into the dungeon recklessly, furthermore if a person of lower rank wanted to raid a dungeon above his rank, then he must be accompanied by at least a one another awakener with the same level as that of a Dungeon.

Since Eren wasn’t even an awakener, it would have been impossible for him to enter the dungeon, well, it would have been impossible if he didn’t suddenly push the officer and jump right into the portal!

"Hey, you fuc*ing bastard..."

Before the portal guard could even scream something, Eren's body disappeared into the dungeon portal.

"Mast....."'

Even Ircus who saw his reckless act screened in hopes of stopping him, which ultimately did nothing but fade into the ears of Eren who disappeared.

Eren who suddenly jumped into the portal could hear the cursing officer and the concerned voice of his driver who was running towards him, but the noises were soon cut off as he appeared in a completely new space itself!

"Arhhh..!:

There was a slight pain in his head due to the dimension transport but he got better after some time.

Eren turned to look all around him.

He was in the middle of what looked to be a forest, there were lush green trees on all his sides, and numerous bushes and shrubs were grown there, it seemed to be a place that was untouched by the humans.

It was currently night in the dungeon and the whole forest was lightened by the shining moon that was hanging in the sky, amidst the countless stars!

“Wow…”

Eren was marveling at the beauty of nature when a White furred fox, which was as big as a normal dog jumped out of a Bush!

swosh!

“Wohh!”

The fox with white fur stood out in the night as the fur itself seemed to glow in the darkness!

Eren was surprised by the immediate appearance of the monster but he regained his posture relatively well as the fox was not much different than the ones he had seen in zoos.

He didn’t waste the time marveling at the monster and he took out the knife that he managed to slide in by hiding it under his coat.

“Now shall I check my limit!”

Eren has never been to a dungeon.

It was his first time being in the dungeon.

Although it was an F-ranked one, A dungeon was still a dungeon and the nervousness was not easily avoidable.

It is said that the monster in the F-rank dungeon was only slightly stronger than that of wild animals, Eren didn’t know if it was true or not but he had decided that he would fight in the dungeon, either till he awaken or till he dies.

Giving him no time to prepare the fox pounced on him.

Eren who didn’t have much experience in fights took a step back raising his hands.

He tried to dodge the fox but the claws of the fox met with his hand, piercing his skin.

Blood gushed out of his hand as Eren jumped back, pressing the wound using his other hand!

“Damn it”

 It was an expected result! No one can become One p*nch man in a day, even though Eren had fit physic that was stronger than the common people, at the end of the day, he was also a non-awakened man with no battle experience.

But He didn’t give up on that!

He had already resolved himself, even if he had to die today, he would try his absolute best to fight the beasts.

Ignoring the bleeding hand, he held the knife backward like a dagger, concentrating on the fox that was getting ready to pounce on him, and soon it did so.

This time, Eren didn’t back down, rather he sprinted forward, slashing at the fox even before it can move its hand.

His knife pierced its skin and blood gushed out, painting its white fur red!

But the fox didn’t die at that, rather it went berserk!!

“Fu*k, the first monster I met had to be a mutated one?”

When coming to the Dungeon by Car, Eren didn’t just simply sit in the back, he did some research about the Moon Fox dungeon.

From what he found on the net, it was a normal dungeon except that some monsters in the dungeon, have undergone partial mutation, gaining the ability to go berserk when they take a certain amount of damage!

Maybe his bad luck, Eren met the Mutated monster right at the start!

The Berserk skill would make the monster more savage, partially immune to pain, and increase the attack damage.

Just like a mad bull charging at red cloth.

Eren quickly backed down, observing the fox intently, since he wasn’t awakened, he didn’t have any skills or mana, so if he lost concentration even for a movement that would mean his death!

The fox which was now covered by a layer of the red aura, sprinted in his direction, jumping on him right from the front!

Even though its ability has increased the side effect of Berserk which made the monster’s intelligence decrease made it very easy to read its attacks!

Eren who saw the Path it was going to attack, readied his knife holding it in both hands.

And right when it jumped on his head aiming at his face, He stabbed the knife through its neck!

“Arhhh!!!”

The knife went in, piercing through another end of its neck.

Eren tossed aside the knife along with the fox.

The fox fell to the ground with the knife, limping, it tried to get up but soon succumbed to the pain embracing death.

“Huff…Huf…. Wow! Just defeating a simple normal monster is so hard….”

Eren was already gasping for air, even though the battle lasted for a very short time, It was his first time fighting in three years.

“Now that I think about it, all I did in the last three years was to take a beating…”

He smiled sarcastically at himself remembering how spine-less he was.

Pushing those thoughts aside, he was about to go take his knife back…when….
