Chapter 09 - Eren's skills

(In the office of Aden von Rozental after Eren left)

A butler entered the room holding a vase and started pouring wine into the glass.

“This is a wine called, Heavenly Pleasure, apparently it is made of the dungeon grapes that were recently discovered in the S- rank dungeon that our guild raided”, said the butler still pouring the wine.

Aden took the glass taking a sip.

“Ah...! It’s too sour, I wish it were a bit sweet”

He kept the glass of wine on the table, “I think I would better have the wine that was fermented for a decade rather than this!”

“It seems you are unusually in a good mood today, Master”

The butler said taking the cup away.

“You can say?”

“You never turn down alcohol if you are not in a good mood, and you seem to hate having bitter things when you are in a good mood”

Aden smiled at him “Hmm..10 years ago I believed that having bitter things will what mature you…”

He looked at the portrait of the woman which was kept on his table, “But now that I think about it, why did I think of having bitter things when I have the ability to only eat sweet things?”

His words were like a puzzle questioning himself about the past!

“Your words are filled with discrepancy! Are you worried about that child?”

The butler asked, unlike how the normal butlers addressed their employers as Master, he was talking with Aden casually as if they were old friends.

“Worried, Me? Hahaha”

He started laughing hearing the butler.

“Did you know why agreed to marry him to my daughter even though he was an Orphan?”

He asked as if he was expecting an answer from him.

“Isn’t it because your loving daughter liked him?”

“Bullshit!”

He got up from his chair walking towards the window!

“Even if she loved her, I wouldn’t have let her marry an Orphan”

He looked out of the window, “You know when I ran a background check on him, I was quite surprised”

A look of disbelief appeared on the face of the butler, “Don’t tell me…”

“hahaha…. That was how I felt when I first found out! But I was quite disappointed seeing that he was an unawakened, but…”

“Just because a Tiger cub hasn’t awakened, it doesn’t become a cat, right?”

The butler remained silent for a movement “So the reason you sent Faker was to protect him?”

He asked as he was reminded of a black shadowed figure that left the room before he entered with tea.

“Protect? Utter foolishness! A man should learn to protect himself”

He laughed seeing out of his window into the distance.

“I just want to see what the tiger cub is trying to do”

Eren said as he sighed seeing the black window in front of him.

He was sitting in his usual place beside the window and was checking his skills.

Previously he had passed out just before he could check his skills but now that he was seeing them, He didn’t know what to feel about it.

The resentment toward those who have wronged you, when the skill is activated, you will enter a berserk state, and all your stats will increase by 50% temporarily, giving you a boost. When the skill is activated, you will be numb to pain.

[Devotion to Revenge (Passive):

For a man will buy Revenge with his Soul! As long as your drive to seek revenge exists, you will not fall. The skill will increase the most needed stat at a particular time based on the situation temporarily.

(Caution: An equal amount of sacrifice would be made in the process)]

[Hateful strike (Lv-01):

Fill your weapon with hate and anger dealing an extra 100% damage to the enemies. There is a chance to inflict various effects based on the user’s emotions.

Cooldown – 10 min

Mana usage – 500]

[An Eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth (Special skill):

The will to return what you have received! This skill will perfectly copy the skill of the enemy that has been used to attack you and will return it with the same efficiency and power, the skill has the effect of ‘Unable to dodge’ which will hit the target without fail.

Note: The user must be hit with the skill before activating the skill.

Cooldown – 12 hours

Mana usage – Half of the mana reserve]

[The Eye of Vengeance (Special skill)(Passive):

My eyes are filled with Vengeance, what it sees is revenge nothing more nothing less. Will enable the user to see the information of the status window of others, provided that they must have or should bear a grudge towards any others.

Mana usage – none.]

Eren sighed seeing the status. He didn’t even know if the skills were good or bad.

Coming to the first skill, Resentment was a top tire skill like that of a Berserk of fighter class, but the downside was that He would enter a berserk state where his judgment and control over his body would be clouded and not to mention the effect of being numb to pain, though it may seem good at the surface, but when it comes to fighting others if he can’t feel the pain his sense would be dull, which would obviously decrease his dodging rate. And the thing the enormous mana usage, fu*k! A single skill requirement was about 2/3^rd of his whole mana.

Of course, it would work out as he levels up, but he would better use it as less as he could.

Coming to the second skill, it was actually a passive skill. Normally awakeners would be happy to have a passive since it didn’t consume any mana or any other resources but Eren only felt fear seeing the skill, It was a good thing that the skill would increase one of his stats when needed but he was terrified with the sacrifice that was mentioned.

He was already having a whole bunch of thoughts of “What ifs….” In his mind.

Leaving that aside, Hateful Strike was the only decent skill he received!

Though not much, it would increase his attack power by 100% dealing double damage, and if he manages to attack critical spots, this skill was somewhat useful, though the random status inflicted was of concern.

Coming to the special skills, “An Eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth", was the top tire skill even among the special skills.

It was just too Overpowered, based on how he used it! Imagine if he somehow managed to withstand the dragon breath and use the same skill, Man! That would be too powerful, well, considering that he would survive after getting hit by Dragon Breath that is!!

Eren was already having beads of sweat just imagining the pain he had to endure to use this skill!

Anyway, the last skill! It was actually the most superior and most stupid skill among all the ones he got!

Seeing the information of others was something that everyone in the world wished for but till now only two people were ever found to be able to do that, of course, it was with some restrictions!

But what mattered right now was that Eren had become the third person who would be able to see other’s states, but he wants without any restrictions either, there was a stupid condition attacked to it, which said that the target he was watching must have a grudge towards someone to be able to see his status!

“Seriously all the skills have so many restrictions how the hell am I going to use them, fu*k! Are these skills really useful?”

[What are you expecting all of them to be overpowered skills? There is nothing like that, if there is no risk, then there is no gain]

The system also seemed to have come back to its usual work of annoying Eren.

Eren who heard it just ignored the statement; he was already used to its tantrums in the last three days!

By now, he understood that it was useless to argue with the system, so he just gave up!

“The preparations are complete, Master”

Right, when he was about to get up from the chair, a voice was heard behind him, it was Scarlet informing him of the completion of preparations to go to his hometown.

“Right let’s….!!!”

Eren got up from his chair and turned around only to freeze seeing the sight in front of him.
