06. The Day Of The Declaration

The day of the declaration arrived, Blaire was nervous and fearful of the outcome of her bid. Javier noticed this, he walked over to his wife and took her hand. Javier smiled at his wife, trying to calm her down.

"I know you must be nervous and afraid that this plan won't work out, but don't worry, Blaire," Javier said to Blaire, but Blaire still looked nervous.

"Of course I'm scared, I don't want to be separated from you, Jav! What if...."

"Blaire, do you trust me?" Blaire nodded his head, he trusted Javier but he couldn't get rid of his fear.

"Then don't be afraid, I won't leave you. I'll take care of all this, so you just need to shut up and trust me, do you understand?" Sighing, Blaire nodded her head again.

"Yes, I understand and I will trust you with everything," she replied.

"Now let's get everything ready, your family will be here any minute." Blaire went to the kitchen to make a meal for her family while they were at her house.

Soon, the doorbell rang, the Watsons had arrived to wait for the Ford Group's announcement.

"Jav, they're here! Open the door," Blaire shouted from the kitchen, Javier who was cleaning up the living room immediately went to open the door.

"Hello, welcome!" Javier greeted them politely but without caring about Javier, they entered the house with a haughty attitude.

"What a long time!" Bella complained as she followed her mother inside.

"Sorry, I was cleaning up the house so I took a while to open," Javier said, always trying to be polite despite the Watsons' contempt and disdain for him.

"Have you come? Come sit on the couch, I'll get the drinks and food ready." Blaire came over to her mother and sister, and they looked at Blaire's appearance with disgust. Blaire was about to hug them but Bella pushed her away.

"Ah disgusting! Don't touch me!" Bella shouted as she hid behind her father's body.

"Why, I took a shower and I'm wearing clean clothes." Blaire was saddened by her brother's words, she checked her own clothes and felt that they were clean.

"You look like a servant." Now it was her mother who spoke.

Javier who heard it all felt angry, he didn't like his wife being treated badly like that by his own family.

"If only you had married a rich man, you wouldn't be like this," Anne quipped as she gave Javier a sharp glance and Javier couldn't help but smile.

"You guys should sit down, why isn't dad here? Is he busy?" Javier tried to change the subject and invited his mother-in-law and sister-in-law to sit on the sofa.

"Of course my husband is busy! Not like you..." They continued to insult Javier and treat him like a trash can in his own home. The Watsons always treated Javier as someone lower than them, even though Javier already knew what their past was like and how they became like this.

Javier took a deep breath, this was not the time to be angry, he had to do his plan well so that he could return to his place and make them realize who Javier really was.

"I have to stay calm, because the time will come soon." Javier smiled even wider, he was happy that his plan was working.

"Let's turn on the TV! Why are you keeping quiet?" His mother-in-law shouted, making Javier immediately turn on the TV and wait for the Ford Group's announcement.

Blaire sat beside Javier and held his hand so tightly, Javier knew that Blaire was nervous again. Not only Blaire, they were all waiting with bated breath and curious about the results.

A few minutes later, on TV they could see a man appearing while sitting in front of many reporters.

"Oh now it's starting, but who is he? Is he a representative of the Ford Group or is he the new CEO?" Just as Bella asked, the man on TV spoke.

"Hello, good evening everyone. My name is James, I am the secretary of Mr. Linford, the new CEO of our company." The man named James introduced himself, and no one realized that the last name of the new CEO that James mentioned was the same as Javier's last name. They probably wouldn't believe that the new CEO of the big company was with them.

"I'd like to thank everyone who bid on our company, we're very happy that you're all looking forward to the outcome of this bid."

Javier somehow became nervous, occasionally glancing at his mother and brother-in-law who seemed to be busy watching TV.

"Are they going to announce it now? Or is Adam planning something else outside of my instructions?" Javier began to hesitate, he was afraid that the result would not go according to his plan.

"If it does, I have to think of something..." Javier looked at his wife, he was afraid that Blaire would become more worried because they had made an agreement with his mother and brother.

"But since there are so many companies bidding, we're still trying to choose. That's why we can't tell you the results of the bidding for now." Everyone sighed in disappointment, especially Javier, he was frustrated with the seemingly never-ending wait.

"We hope you'll be more patient, and thank you for listening to me. Good night and see you soon!" The news ended after James stepped off the podium.

"You heard, right?" His mother-in-law spoke up immediately while giving Javier a sharp look.

"There are a lot of companies making offers, do you think someone like Blaire will get the offer? He'll lose out to people from other big companies!" she snapped, causing Blaire to hang his head in fear.

"This all happened because of you, Javier! You're the one who ruined our family!"

"Mom, calm down. Javier did this because he wanted to help our family..." Even though she was terrified, Blaire still had to defend her husband. While Javier just sat there, he could already guess that the Watsons would hate him even more for this but Javier would bear it because this was the risk of his plan.

"Help what? It's called destroying, Blaire! You should have stopped him!" Bella retorted sarcastically.

"I don't want to see you together again, that offer won't work! You need to get a divorce right now!" Anne ordered and Blaire immediately shook her head in refusal.

"I don't want to, mom!" Blaire shouted, she was about to get up and Javier quickly pulled her hand away and signaled her to calm down.

"Mom, the results aren't out yet. We still don't know what the outcome will be, and I'm sure we'll win." Javier finally spoke and his words made Anne and Bella laugh.

"Why are you so sure? You think it's easy to get their bid?" asked Bella mockingly.

"Wake up, Javier! Ford Group is a big company, they wouldn't choose someone as useless as Blaire."

"What are you dreaming about that you're this confident? You're so confident that you don't realize your lowly position."

"Stop embarrassing us, and leave," Anne ordered sternly.

"I don't know why I'm so confident, but I'm sure that we'll win."

"Alright, I'll make another bet. If I win my unborn child will be the sole heir of the family and inherit all the family property..."

"Are you crazy? No, mom! I don't agree!" shouted Bella refusing to agree to Javier's bet.

"Aren't you sure that I won't win?" asked Javier but Bella kept shaking her head.

"Bella, sit down. You think he'll get the offer? Only a fool would believe that," said Anne.

"And if you lose?" asked Anne, Javier thought for a minute as everyone there looked at him. He wasn't sure and he was afraid that he would actually have to divorce Blaire, he couldn't imagine not being able to see Blaire's face anymore or losing their child.

"I have to raise the stakes even further, I have to do it." Javier finally resolved as he tightened his grip on Blaire. He tore his gaze away from Blaire's face and looked back at his mother and sister-in-law.

"If I lose, I will let Blaire marry Mr. Albert." Blaire widened his eyes in surprise at the bet Javier was making again.

"Jav, what do you mean? I don't want to marry him!”

"And you have to be the best man for their wedding, after which you have to disappear from Blaire's life forever. That's my wish," Anne continued. Hearing that, Javier was very reluctant, but for the sake of the plan, he nodded his head and agreed.
