Chapter 1:. Shawn?

“Room service”

“Come in!”

Donald held a tray filled with teapots and takeaways as he knocked softly on their customer's room door.

At the sound of his approval, Donald pushed the door and went in.

“Shawn?” Donald called out after seeing his girlfriend half-naked, flirting with the man who looked ten times better than him.

“You know him?” Jayden was the first to break the silence in the room.

“The man I told you about. The poor clown”

“Shawn!” Donald spoke with an icy voice as he raised his brows while gawking evilly at the duo.

“I guess it took me too long to let you know that I'm done with this bondage we call a relationship. Jayden is everything and more, so don't call me anymore, you have nothing to offer”

Shawn spoke nonchalantly as she rested on Jayden's shoulder. The duo smiled evilly while looking at him as a piece of trash.

Feeling the surge of emotion beneath, Donald quickly placed the tray on the table and made to leave, before stopping.

“You can keep her, cheap things come easily anyway"

“You!” Shawn said angrily, as she felt attacked by Donald's last words.

After cleaning up the dishes and clearing the tables, Donald retired to the lounge.

“Jayden's just a rich second-generation heir who lived off his father's earnings, Shawn only cares about the money, I should have known”

Donald soliloquized while staring into space, suppressing the urge to tear up, before sighting a black bracelet on the table.

Looking at both ends of the lounge, no one seemed to be close to the lounge; leaving Donald with no other choice but to take a closer look at the bracelet.

“Donald!”

Mr. Jamie's frightening voice came blaring into Donald's ear.

“Why stand there, staring at your hands?”

The pot-bellied man probed. “I just cleared the table and something came to mind”

“Whatever came to mind was definitely not something profitable for a lazy lad like you. Stop standing like a zombie and attend to the customers' orders. There's a list of customers to deliver food to, get going”

“But my shift is almost over” Donald retorted.

“Almost, not yet over. Besides, Oliver is unavailable presently, so you'd be taking his shift too”

“Why am I just hearing this now? He's been absent for some time now, and I always have to cover up for him. He's not working as expected, I think there should be another person present, so we can work together instead” Donald divulged.

“The rich are always willing to work, but the poor are stagnant because of their mentality. Countless poor folks out there, but you're the worst I've come to know”

Donald clenched his fist as he suppressed the urge to punch his boss in the face. The latter walked out after looking at him with disdain.

“Poor Donald, he gets the blame every time"

“Too much pain for a young lad”

“With no one to run to, he has no choice but to put up with these”

The staff at the counter spoke in hushed whispers as they felt nothing but pity for Donald.

“For talking back at me, I'm relieving you of your job. Too much pride for a poor man”

Mr. Jamie spoke up nonchalantly.

“Really? What about my salary?” Donald fired back.

“You aren't getting a penny from me, leave already! The stench of poverty in my company is far too much all because of you”

“You will regret this!”

“Says an ant with no hands. Tell it to the birds you social loafer!” Mr. Jamie's lips curved up in an evil smile as he walked back to his office.

On getting home, Donald lay down on his bed as he reminisced on the events that happened earlier. Losing the job that pays him higher than the rest was seriously going to tell on him, coupled with the fact that he was dismissed without being paid.

“What could this be? A precious stone in the bracelet? Would it be valuable enough for auctioning?”

Donald wondered as he looked at the black bracelet. While taking a closer look at the bracelet, Donald subconsciously rubbed the stone in the middle with his fingers.

A light smoke puffed up, causing Donald to shut his eyes in fear. On opening it, he realized that the stone was repeatedly changing colors.

“What could this be?”

[I am the black Kaka'ri, a precious stone with the magic abilities of serving my master and equipping them with magical abilities like rapid healing, riches, extreme magical power and immortality too.]

“Oh my goodness!”

[You only need to say your wish and everything would be settled at an instant, Master. There's no limit to what I can do]

“This is crazy, but do I have to do anything in return?”

[No you don't. Just keep me safe and all your wishes would be done]

Donald was still trying to process things when an annoying sound came from outside his door.

“You douchebag! I had waited all morning, but you tricked me again, went to work unnoticed and came back unnoticed but voilà! I caught you before you could think of leaving for your second part-time job.”

Donald rolled his eyes as he already knew who was at the door. “Mrs Churchill, can you please give me some more time?”

“Trickster! I'm too smart for your lousy tricks, come outside, or I might just get you arrested”

Mrs. Churchill threatened as she held on to a bottle of soda.

“It's been two months now, and you have vowed not to pay, but not to worry, I'm used to these tactics and everyone who tried playing a fast one on me never ended well”

Donald's eyes darted to the bracelet and back to the old lady as different thoughts filled his mind.

“Can I get some money to pay this old hag?”

[Whatever my master wants]

“You kid, who are you calling an old hag? Watch it, or you might end up begging me to spare you”

Mrs. Churchill threatened. “Not even in your next life."

Donald retorted after feeling something heavy in his pockets. The old woman glued her eyes….
