Miguel stepped closer, his smile full of contempt. "You know, Blake." He raised his eyebrows in a condescending tone. "You should be grateful to receive this money. Even with a lifetime of effort, you could never earn this much."

Blake's face flushed red, and his eyes blazed with unstoppable anger. Irritated by this insult, his heart raced.

He clenched his jaw, trying to hold back the scathing words that wanted to come out. It felt like there was a fire burning inside him, creating a wave of emotions ready to explode.

Miguel stood up straight, with his body slightly puffed forward, showing an overconfident attitude. "You poor thing, you should know your place. This is the real world, and you don't stand a chance. So, just take the money and divorce Amora immediately."

His eyes were piercing, blazing with hatred and arrogance, as if he was savouring every moment of the humiliation he was delivering. Her lips curled up in a sardonic smile, adding to the impression of haughtiness.

Miguel grinned, feeling satisfied. He looked at Blake with one eyebrow raised, a mocking and condescending look.

Blake clenched his hands tightly into fists, returning Miguel's glare with contempt. "I will never divorce Amora."

"Wow, you really don't know yourself. What can you give Amora? Let alone this much money, not even a thousand dollars can you give her." Miguel chuckled, shaking his head with a disdainful cluck.

Miguel's every word was like a piercing dagger, making Blake even angrier. He felt pushed down and humiliated. He stared at Miguel with a hateful gaze, determined not to let the insult undermine his pride.

"Already poor, pretentious." However, his mother-in-law also joined in the insults, making Blake's pride even more trampled.

Zuri stood haughtily, her sharp gaze piercing Blake. "Just divorce Amora. You're incapable of providing a decent life for her."

Zuri's voice was full of a cynical tone as if every word spoken was a knife that had been stabbed straight into Blake's heart. The fact that Blake had never been favoured by Zuri made Miguel feel like he already had a place in Amora's family.

"There's no need to defend a marriage that wasn't supposed to happen in the first place. What can you give? Living with constant deprivation will only make my favorite daughter suffer." Zuri's gaze made Blake feel small and helpless.

Blake felt his blood boil, facing such an insult from someone he respected. He clenched his jaw, trying to hold back the overflowing emotions.

"What are you waiting for?" Miguel wiggled his eyebrows, staring at the money scattered on the floor. "Hurry up and get it. You can open a business with that money and you see, I've made it easy for you."

Blake looked at Miguel with sharp eyes. Despite that, he remained calm. Blake grabbed the money that was scattered below, making Miguel and Zuri laugh in satisfaction that Blake and Amora were finally getting a divorce.

However, without hesitation, Blake tore the bills right in front of Miguel and Zuri, who were now frozen in place, eyes wide and shocked. Blake threw the torn bills into the air, which made Miguel and Zuri even more upset.

"Damn it, how dare you tear up that money." Miguel was inflamed, immediately pushing Blake's body back a few steps.

"What a useless man." Zuri was inflamed. Her bloodstream felt hot, building up at the top of her head. "You're so ignorant, so arrogant. How did you get that much money, huh?" Zuri was not to be outdone, her face bright red. "You're out of your mind, Blake! This all just shows how irresponsible you are. Amora deserves more than this!"

Miguel stepped closer, the distance feeling increasingly pressing. "With this stupid act, you're just proving that you don't deserve Amora. Stop this drama and divorce her, save your face before it's too late. It's a good thing I gave you this much money. You're ungrateful."

Their anger intensified while Blake stood his ground, even as his heart trembled. "I don't need this money at all."

Blake didn't need to work for a year to earn that money because, in truth, he was a rich man. Blake just hid his identity as a successful businessman. Blake chose to live an ordinary life and secretly help his wife's career.

"So pretentious. What a stupid man." Zuri sneered at Blake, pursing her lips with a sardonic look. "Where do you think you got that much money from? It's arrogant not to accept that money. You just want to make my son's life miserable, huh?"

Zuri was really annoyed with Blake's attitude that he didn't need money even though he couldn't give anything to Amora. Even though she knew that her daughter worked so hard to support the family that the responsibility should have been taken by her husband, Blake couldn't do that at all.

"What a pity for my daughter." Zuri's jaw groaned. Her lips trembled, holding back an outburst of anger. "She's a manager, but she has to marry a trashy guy like you, Blake."

Hate and disappointment mixed in Zuri's heart. Seeing how hard Amora worked while she always saw Blake lounging around at home made her motherly feelings go haywire.

"My daughter can find a better man than you, Blake. That's why divorce him!" Zuri emphasized her words to make Blake understand that their marriage had to end. "Let my daughter be happy with a rich man who can fulfill all her needs."

"I can't." Blake exhaled softly, looking deeply at his mother-in-law. "We love each other."

Zuri's eyes bulged, hearing Blake's words. "Bullshit!" Her voice echoed in the room, venting her frustration. "Even now, you can only trouble my daughter."

"Cut the crap, Blake. Amora doesn't love you." Miguel looked at Blake with a condescending look in his eyes. "Get a big mirror and see who you are. You're poor and lousy and don't deserve to be with Amora. Even from the edge of the world, you're not compatible at all."

Blake tightened his fists. His chest was hot, rumbling with anger, but he tried to remain calm, not wanting to make a scene.

"Ah, well, maybe the money wasn't enough?" Miguel raised one eyebrow. "How much do you want? Just say it, don't let me change my mind because this is the last offer."

Miguel was about to take the check out of his wallet when Amora walked into the hospital room.

That made Miguel undo his intention. He immediately smiled and put a cheerful face on Amora. "Hi, Amora."

Amora's brow furrowed slightly at Miguel's presence here. "Oh, Miguel. When did you come?"

"Just now." Miguel smiled broadly as if nothing had happened in this room.

Amora nodded her head and stepped closer to Zuri. However, her eyes were drawn to the pieces of paper money scattered on the floor.

"What's this?" Amora's brow furrowed. She was about to crouch down, but Zuri immediately pulled her hand to keep her standing.

"Are you ready to go to work, Amora?" Zuri patted the back of Amora's hand gently. "Then I'll let Miguel drive you."

"Yes, I happen to be going in the same direction." Miguel raised his hand with one eyebrow raised.

Amora exhaled softly. She nodded slowly, agreeing to it out of necessity and not wanting to make a scene, finally obeying her mother.

"Okay." Amora looked at Blake. "Stay out of trouble and get to work. I've sent the data to your cell phone."

"Already, hurry up and leave before it's too late." Zuri waved her hand in the air, telling Amora to leave immediately.

Amora exhaled. "I'll go first, Mom." She gave her mother a quick kiss on the cheek, then turned around, quickly stepping out of Zuri's room with Miguel.

"Take care!" Zuri waved vigorously, then looked at Blake sarcastically, reluctant to look at him any longer.

Meanwhile, Blake opened his cell phone. Amora had sent an incoming email, and his eyes immediately rounded when he read it.

The staff members were slightly taken aback by Zuri’s reaction, but they remained calm as they responded, "We were just following Mr. Blake’s instructions. The facility is highly exclusive, and there, Grandfather received more intensive care." Amora, who had just stepped out of the kitchen, overheard the conversation and looked confused. She walked closer and asked, "Mom, what are you talking

His hand, still gripping the phone, began to tremble, his fingers clenching around the device so tightly it was as if he wanted to crush it. His breathing turned erratic and uneven. Slowly, he turned his head. His eyes flickered quickly toward Blake, a mix of shock, fury, and fear flashing in his gaze. His brows furrowed deeply, the muscles in his face tightening. He studied Blake, unable to believe that the man could be responsible for this. His other hand balled into a fist at his side, his nails nearly digging into his palm. “Sir, we just received new information that the Pairend company’s business is also experiencing a drastic decline.” His assistant’s voice trembled, causing Betrand’s own hands to shake even more. It felt like Betrand had just been struck repeatedly. Even Pairend—a company that had only been established a year ago yet had shown impressive growth and profitability—was suddenly experie

“We tried to convince them to stay, but they’ve already given up,” the assistant continued, desperation creeping into his tone. “Even the banks are starting to reject our loan applications. If we don’t act fast, the company will go bankrupt!” Hearing those words, Betrand staggered backward, his head spinning. This couldn't be happening. His company had always been stable, its power in the business world unshakable. But now? Everything was crumbling in mere hours. He swallowed hard, trying to regain his composure. “How did this happen?” “What’s wrong?” Merry frowned, concern flashing across her face as she observed her husband’s stunned reaction. Liana quickly glanced at her son. That was a large sum to give away just like that to the three police officers, but now was not the time to think about that. Romeo's freedom was the priority. Liana also nodded while clasping her hands in front of her chest. "Yes, we'll pay whatever it takes as long as you release my husband." The two officers behind Marco exchanged glances with each other. They were unsure if their leader would accept the offer or continue with their task. "How about it? Or maybe that's a small offer?" Romeo frowned. "Just tell me how much you want. I'll give it to you." He was so confident that his offer would work. He didn’t care how much money he would lose; after all, he had just gotten a commission from the illegal arms sale. It didn’t matter if he lost a lot of money, as long as he could be free and keep his family safe from punishment. "Oh, that's a very tempting offer," Marco no
