"This company is ...." Blake muttered under his breath, looking at his phone screen. He recognized the name of the company. It was one of his companies that was not far from here.
He hurriedly opened his email and looked at the document Amora had sent him. It contained detailed information about the company. Amora even sent an attachment that Blake had to bring as a work requirement. Blake felt like this was an amazing coincidence. He did have a need at the company, and if he joined, he thought maybe things would definitely improve. "Okay." Blake nodded his head, looking at Zuri, who had her back to him. "I'll be gone for a while, ma'am." "Whatever." Zuri didn't care at all, not even turning her head to Blake. "Already, get lost!" Zuri waved her hand in the air, shooing Blake away. "I'm sick of you lingering here." Blake nodded slowly, then strode out of Zuri's treatment room, rushing to the Foturnity Corp company in a taxi. In just thirty minutes, he finally arrived there. Blake got out of the taxi, looking straight at the towering building in front of him. Blake stepped into the company building. The atmosphere inside was professional and energetic. Several employees seemed busy with their work. Amora wrote in the message that Blake should go straight to the waiting room. Blake complied. He walked in there. But as he walked towards the waiting room, he bumped into Miguel. "Oh, Blake." Miguel stood up haughtily, smoothing down the expensive suit that showed his status. "I didn't expect you to come here. Who let a poor guy like you in here?" Miguel stared sarcastically with a dismissive tone. Miguel lifted his face, looking towards the front door. He chuckled in annoyance, folding his arms across his chest. "Well, for what it's worth, the guard here isn't out front." Miguel shook his head. "I'll fire them later. How could they let someone like you in here. What are you doing here, huh? Do you want to steal?" Miguel raised one eyebrow. It was obvious that his gaze was condescending to Blake, and his every word was filled with contempt. Miguel even looked at the man in front of him from head to toe as if Blake was a freak he had seen for the first time in this company. "None of your business." Blake turned his face away from Miguel, looking very reluctant to respond to the man's words. "Oh, of course it's my business." Miguel smiled sarcastically, raising his hands haughtily. "You know, this is my family's company." Miguel emphasized his words, making it clear to Blake that everything in this building was his business, no matter what, including Blake's arrival here. "So, if there's anything to look for, you might want to think twice before expecting anything." Miguel grinned, lifting his chin haughtily. Blake smiled a small smile with the corners of his lips slightly turned up. He felt funny about Miguel's confession. He knew about this company. Neither Miguel nor the Heather family owned any shares here, and Miguel was just being pretentious in front of Blake. "Ah, wait a minute. I think I know what you're doing here." Miguel wiggled his index finger while smiling sarcastically. "You want to work here?" He chuckled, shaking his head. From the beginning, he knew Blake's intention in coming here. Still, he only wanted to humiliate Blake for his own satisfaction. Miguel gloatingly girded his loins. "No wonder Amora asked me to give you a job." He chuckled softly. "It was her who told you to come here to work." Miguel laughed again softly with his hands in his pants pockets. He raised one eyebrow, looking at Blake from head to toe. "Hah, I don't know what to expect from a stupid guy like you." Miguel raised his eyebrows, stepped slowly, and circled Blake with a condescending look. His style was that of a big boss interrogating a new employee. That's how Miguel felt, too, being authoritarian. "Work? What are you good at?" Miguel again raised one eyebrow, testing Blake's patience. "A poor, useless, uneducated man can't possibly have any skills." Miguel had heard enough about Blake from Zuri. His approach to Zuri was solely to ingratiate himself with the woman he hoped would become his mother-in-law. Zuri was always talking about how Blake could only bring trouble to Amora, so Miguel was very confident in being able to shift the man's position. "Ah, I'm too lazy to accept a stupid employee like you." Miguel pursed his lips, sneering at Blake, and then he grinned. "But since it's for Amora's sake, I'll help you." Miguel raised his head, looking as if he was thinking and considering what job he could give Blake. "What would be appropriate for you to do, huh?" He rubbed his chin with a sardonic smile. "Ah, what a coincidence, I was intending to hire you as a toilet cleaner." Hearing that, Blake's anger boiled over. He clenched his hands tightly, trying to hold back his emotions. Even so, he maintained a calm demeanour and sharp eyes, ready to fight. Miguel laughed out loud, feeling a sense of satisfaction at having insulted Blake. Even seeing that sharp look in Blake's eyes made his stomach tingle even more. The people around them noticed them with furrowed brows. However, they just took it as an afterthought and went back to focusing on their work despite feeling a little disturbed by Miguel's commotion. Miguel rubbed the corners of his eyes after laughing. "Oh, and I happen to have to poop right now. Maybe you can clean it with your face." Miguel laughed even more at the expression on Blake's face, who didn't seem to accept it. His current, handsome demeanour showed how inferior he was in front of Blake. "Why are you looking at me like that?" Blake's face hardened, making Miguel's laughter immediately stop. The look in Blake's eyes was also sharp and cold, and a hardened jaw gave Miguel a slight feeling of pressure. It was like Blake was undermining Miguel's self-esteem. "Are you angry? What can you do here, huh?" Miguel shoved Blake's shoulder hard enough to send the man stumbling backwards. Miguel threw up his hands, looking at Blake with a hateful glare. He didn't like the way Blake's gaze seemed to be fighting back, even when he was calm. "You should be grateful I'm still giving you a job." Miguel grinned, remembering how Amora had begged him to accept Blake to work here. "If it wasn't for Amora, I wouldn't have accepted you." "I wouldn't take a job from you either." Blake's reply instantly made Miguel round his eyes. "Wow, how pretentious." Miguel clapped his hands together, teasing Blake. "People don't know themselves, they've been given a job, but they refuse it." He straightened his suit, which was a little messy from moving around too much. "You should be thanking me because Amora really wants you to work here." Blake smiled a little, sharpening his eyes to focus on Miguel. "I will indeed work here, but not as a toilet cleaner."

Zuri, who was more sensitive to such matters, immediately approached with a worried expression, her eyes scanning her father’s body as if searching for anything unusual. "What’s going on? How could Father be moved just like that without any prior notice?" Zuri asked, her voice filled with concern and confusion. "My daughter, it was Blake who decided to transfer me to a better care facility. Everything was arranged properly," Jhonson said with a smile, his voice sounding stronger than before. Zuri looked at him sharply. "Better care? What do you mean? Why didn’t anyone inform us first?" The staff members were slightly taken aback by Zuri’s reaction, but they remained calm as they responded, "We were just following Mr. Blake’s instructions. The facility is highly exclusive, and there, Grandfather received more intensive care." Amora, who had just stepped out of the kitchen, overheard the conversation and looked confused. She walked closer and asked, "Mom, what are you talking

Betrand remained frozen in shock, completely ignoring Merry’s question. His hand, still gripping the phone, began to tremble, his fingers clenching around the device so tightly it was as if he wanted to crush it. His breathing turned erratic and uneven. Slowly, he turned his head. His eyes flickered quickly toward Blake, a mix of shock, fury, and fear flashing in his gaze. His brows furrowed deeply, the muscles in his face tightening. He studied Blake, unable to believe that the man could be responsible for this. His other hand balled into a fist at his side, his nails nearly digging into his palm. “Sir, we just received new information that the Pairend company’s business is also experiencing a drastic decline.” His assistant’s voice trembled, causing Betrand’s own hands to shake even more. It felt like Betrand had just been struck repeatedly. Even Pairend—a company that had only been established a year ago yet had shown impressive growth and profitability—was suddenly experie

“We tried to convince them to stay, but they’ve already given up,” the assistant continued, desperation creeping into his tone. “Even the banks are starting to reject our loan applications. If we don’t act fast, the company will go bankrupt!” Hearing those words, Betrand staggered backward, his head spinning. This couldn't be happening. His company had always been stable, its power in the business world unshakable. But now? Everything was crumbling in mere hours. He swallowed hard, trying to regain his composure. “How did this happen?” “What’s wrong?” Merry frowned, concern flashing across her face as she observed her husband’s stunned reaction. Liana quickly glanced at her son. That was a large sum to give away just like that to the three police officers, but now was not the time to think about that. Romeo's freedom was the priority. Liana also nodded while clasping her hands in front of her chest. "Yes, we'll pay whatever it takes as long as you release my husband." The two officers behind Marco exchanged glances with each other. They were unsure if their leader would accept the offer or continue with their task. "How about it? Or maybe that's a small offer?" Romeo frowned. "Just tell me how much you want. I'll give it to you." He was so confident that his offer would work. He didn’t care how much money he would lose; after all, he had just gotten a commission from the illegal arms sale. It didn’t matter if he lost a lot of money, as long as he could be free and keep his family safe from punishment. "Oh, that's a very tempting offer," Marco no
