Parker nodded and went in. After a while, Parker returned with a loaf of bread. "How much for it?" I asked.

"Give us all that you have," Parker said as he placed the bread on the counter. Normally I would have ignored and left due to their insulting words from earlier but the hunger in me was greater. I took out my money and Parker snatched it out of my hands.

He shoved the bread into my hands and gave a smug smile, "Enjoy your meal." Parker added and both he and Gus looked like they were trying to hold back their laughter.

If only I knew what was coming to me.

I happily entered my house with the mindset that I was finally going to fill my stomach no matter what the bread would taste like. I opened the bread as soon as I sat down.

Just as I tore the bread in half, cockroaches flew out, causing me to throw the bread at the far corner of the living room. I could only imagine the amount of laughter that Gus and Parker were getting at just the thought of the outcome of their prank on me.

I cried again but then wiped off my tears before they could drop. What sort of a life was I living for me as a man not to have any respect whatsoever? Have I deemed a man?

Oh, what I would give to live the lives of those rich people out there. Those people who had it easy and could make anyone bow to their feet.

I got on my feet and went to my room after having to slam myself against it just so it would get opened. My last comfortable sleep in this house. Though I doubt sleeping on an empty stomach could ever be comfortable no matter how soft the bed is.

I closed my eyes in bed and waited for sleep to take over, with the hope that my hunger would help end my life in my sleep.

Once again, I heard banging sounds coming from the front door, and this time I had no intention of getting off of the bed. The banging persisted. I opened my eyes and looked at the clock which I dragged out from underneath my bed with my

I tried to ignore the knocking again as I saw it was too early for it because it was only twelve-thirty. Ignoring it did not cause it to stop and so I got up in anger. Was the landlady that desperate to get rid of me?!

I left my room and went to answer the door. On reaching the front door, I was very ready to fire back at the landlady. What I did not expect was for things to take such a wild turn.

I opened the door and instantly someone fell into my arms. It was dark but I could tell it was a female. She felt weak and moist for some reason.

"Help me," she said to me. I dragged her inside and closed the door. I laid the woman on the floor and struggled in the dark living room to find and light a lamp.

I froze in horror when I saw her entire stomach area covered in blood. I squatted beside her and checked only to find out the woman had been shot and would die at any minute.

The fear gripped me because a strange woman who was about to die was lying down in my house and did not allow me to think straight. My hand was shaking like crazy and I did not know what my next move would be.

My heart seized and only seemed to let out painful beats. My mouth did not move and I could not get them open to speak because I was already struggling to breathe properly.

Who was she and why did she come knocking on my door? Was she being chased by someone? I had to get her out of my house quickly. What the hell did I just get myself into?

"T... Trevor... I need to find..." she said and winced in pain. "I need to find Trevor," she said.

I shook my head and pinched myself in the hope that I was dreaming but no, everything was happening live and before my eyes. How did she know my name when I had no clue who she was?

But how much of a coincidence can such a thing be? That someone can come into a stranger's house and ask for that stranger, saying that stranger's precise name.

No-no. Maybe she was referring to a different Trevor. I am not the only Trevor after all. "Sorry, madam but I think you have gotten the wrong person," I said to her, too scared to ask about how the injuries came to be.

"I will die soon... Please come closer..." she said to me. I remained standing, hesitating to move any closer to her.

"There is no time left Trevor... Please..." she begged me. I went ahead to kneel beside her. I did not know what else to do. There was no way I could help her. She was already a goner.

"Your full name is Trevor Vandelson. I am your aunt Victoria..." The woman said to me. I thought she was going crazy. My surname was chase

"You do not believe me but I can prove it," she said to me. "You have a birthmark on the left side of your chest shaped like a lion's mane," she added, with much effort.

I could not believe my ears. I knew that this woman was telling the truth about the birthmark but I had to check again just in case.

"What happened? How come you are like this? And my parents... They had told me in the past that I had no other relatives still alive, so how come?" I had many questions to ask but there was so little time left.

"Those people... They were not your... biological parents..." the woman said. "Trevor... I do not have time to explain... You have to run... Your life... Your life is in danger... Your cousins are after me and will... They will kill you too if they find you." she struggled to explain to me.

I panicked and got up from beside her in fear, "Take this..." she said, showing me a pendant she had taken out of her pocket. The woman raised her hand towards me and I reluctantly accepted the pendant.

"Go to your grandfather at the top of Mount of fractures and give it to him. Only he will choose the right time for you to know everything. You will have to undergo special training under him first..." those were the woman's last words and she froze in her state.

What special training was she talking about?

I waved my hand above her eyes and there was no reaction. That was it. She had died. I put the pendant in my pocket and put the dim lamp on the floor as I tried to think of what my next move would be.

Oh shit! Who am I kidding?! The police would arrest me if I went to them and they will not believe a word I say. And if I run away I might find my face in wanted signs next. What should I do?!

In the middle of my thoughts and the overwhelming darkness, the door flung open and as it did, turned off what light remained of the lamp.

At the door, I spotted two silhouettes in the form of two men standing. They had not seen me as I was distant from the woman and the house was so dark.

"So this is where our mother came to die?" one of the men spoke up.

Clarissa arrived at the given address and stepped out of her car. She examined the appearance of the building with her gaze and went ahead to knock on the front door. The door was opened by the same doctor she was looking for and on recognizing Clarissa himself, the doctor made to shut the door as quickly as possible but Clarissa shoved him back. "So you did the entire thing on purpose?" Clarissa asked the doctor. The doctor parted his lips but no words came out. "Forget it. I have no time for this argument. Where is the result of the DNA test?" Clarissa asked the doctor. "I don't have it with me. I left it in the hospital." the doctor replied. "You son of a... " Clarissa's voice trailed off. "Get into my car right now!" Clarissa ordered. "I need those results right now!" she yelled. "There is no need for me to come with you. Do you want the result? I make a call to get it to you." the doctor replied. "Make it quick," Clarissa said to the doctor, right after she gave him a sh

The only thing that Clarissa had on her mind was the DNA test and she couldn't wait to get it and show it to the twins for them to do the comparison. Clarissa arrived at the hospital and headed straight for the doctor's office. She tried opening the door but it was locked. A nurse was passing by at that moment and Clarissa stopped the nurse to make inquiries. "Good morning ma'am." the nurse greeted. Clarissa ignored the greeting from the nurse and went straight to the point, "where is the doctor that usually stays in this office?" Clarissa asked the nurse. "Today is his day off so he's not going to come here for work until the next day." the nurse answered Clarissa. "Do you know where he lives?" Clarissa asked the nurse. "I am sorry ma'am but this hospital follows strict rules. Such which inclu

"Oh, it makes a whole lot of difference because I do not want that to happen," Clarissa replied to Dean. "Hm. Hand what are you planning to do about it? Stop us? How exactly do you want to start that out?" Dean mocked Clarissa. "I can give you what you long for the most," Clarissa said to Dean."And what is that?" Loki asked Clarissa. "You may not know it but we are getting a good reward from Zane, that is after we succeed in what we were sent to do. Nothing you say could be any better." Loki added. "And I am sure that what Zane offered was not money. It's something else which I am yet to find out." Clarissa replied Loki. "You better keep your nose out of our business Clarissa. You know very well what we are capable of." Dean warned Clarissa. "Uuu, I'm so scared. Someone come and help me." Clarissa said to Dean in a mocking tone of voice. "I didn't come here to discuss what Zane offered the both of you but what I can give you two," Clarissa said. "Just go straight to the point

I couldn't contain myself anymore and I embraced her, lifting her and spinning around with her. Clarissa was shouting for me to stop while she laughed at the same time. I stopped and put her down. "You don't know how happy you have just made me," I said to Clarissa. "Thank you, Clarissa. And I'm sorry for fooling you the way I did before." I said to Clarissa. Why was I fast falling for her? "Um... Walker? Why aren't you coming in?" I heard Clarissa ask me. Her voice brought me back into reality and made me realize I had gotten lost in thought and had stopped at the door. "Oh! Sorry about that. I kind of zoned out there." I told Clarissa and walked into the mansion. "Hey," I said. "Yes?" Clarissa answered while turning to face me. I thought about it again and again. Maybe I should tell Clarissa about my feelings for her. But what if she tries to take advantage of me through it? What if she doesn't feel the same way at all?The last thing I would want right now is a one-sided relationship..."Sir?" Clarissa said. "Hm? Nothing. Never mind that. Just go to your room." I caught the fist and kicked the strange person's second hand when I felt it coming at me. The stranger shouted in pain and I dragged him out of the darkness only to find that it was Zane. "What the...! I thought I told you to stay away from me and my wife?! So you do not know what a restriction order is?!" I shouted. "Come out with my wife!" I shouted to the men I knew were still in the darkness. Two men stepped out, holding Clarissa and one of them had her mouth covered. "Run now that you have the chance to do so," I told those two men. The two men looked at Zane and then at each other. After a second or two, they took to their heels. I punched Zane square in the face and he fell to the ground. He sat up with a bleeding nose and blood leaving the corners of his lips. Zane looked at me angrily but he did and said nothing. After Zane was finally gone, Clarissa jumped into my arms. "Thank you so much!" Clarissa said to me as she cried on my chest. I patted her on the back. "Ever
