He is cruel

Aidan opened his door and walked inside while Kayden and Phil followed him inside.

"You are to report here every morning, your job is to get me breakfast, lunch and dinner, prepare my bathwater, wash my clothes, mend them if they should need washing, polish my shoes and armor, carry my weapons when I go hunting or when I am in battle. As time goes on, I will think of other duties for you." Aidan told Kayden.

"Damn Aidan, you should just give him the whole palace work. It's too much for him." Phil objected.

"Well he is the one who wants to be my servant, isn't he?" Aidan retorted.

"that doesn't mean that you should overwork him." Phil said.

"if he can't handle it, he can just quit now" Aidan said as he looked at Kayden with a challenging look.

"I can handle it, my lord." Kayden said confidently.

Aidan looked at Phil triumphantly.

"See, he isn't complaining at all." Phil sighed in defeat.

Aidan brought out his armor and all the clothes in the wardrobe both the clean and dirty ones and gave it to Kayden to wash. He also gave him his armor and all his dirty shoes to polish.

Kayden looked at the heap and felt faint headed. "I am to do all of this today?" he asked.

"yes, don't forget to serve me my lunch and dinner as well. But, if it's too much for you, you can quit at any time. I won't hold it against you" Aidan replied.

"do not worry, my lord. Everything will be taken care of." Kayden replied.

"Good! Come on Phil, let's go practice." Aidan said as he left the room.

Kayden looked at his heap of work and sighed, if he was at home, he would have used magic and everything would be done quickly but he couldn't use magic here in Rivena so he had to do everything manually.

He sighed again and started to do his work.

Some few hours later.....

"Do you think he would be able to do everything you told him to do?" Phil asked Aidan.

"Of course not." Aidan replied.

"So why would you give him those many chores?" Phil asked in confusion.

"Because I want to frustrate him so he quits."

"is it really that bad to have a servant?"

"I like my privacy, peace and quiet. Having a personal servant is going to ruin that. I can't go against father, but if I frustrate him to leave, I won't bear any blame." Aidan explained.

"you are evil" Phil told him.

"I am quite aware of that. Now where is that servant of mine? It's time for lunch.".Aidan said.

"here he comes" Phil said as he looked in the direction where Kayden was coming towards them with a tray.

"My lord" Kayden said with a slight bow as he placed the tray in front of Aidan.

"hmmm! This is my favorite, how did you know that?" Aidan asked.

"I asked the cook"

"That's very smart of you" Phil praised him.

"thank you my lord." Kayden replied.

"Have you done the chores I asked you to do?" Aidan asked Phil.

"yes my lord, I am almost done." Phil replied.

"clean my room and wash the floor as well" Aidan ordered.

"yes my lord." Kayden said.

"You may go." Aidan dismissed him.

Kayden bowed and turned around and left.

"Seriously? Did you have to add more work to his chores?" Phil asked.

"I can't make it too easy for him." Aidan retorted.

Phil sighed and sat down to join Aidan to eat.

"What are you doing?" Aidan asked him.

"Eating with you." Phil answered.

"You were the one complaining that I am overworking him and now you want to eat the food he brought?" Aidan asked him.

"How do the two things relate?" Phil asked in confusion.

"They relate very well. You want to eat? Go inside and grab your own food."

"Seriously?" Phil asked.

"Yes I am very serious."

Phil sighed and stood up to go inside to eat lunch.

Later that evening, Aidan entered his room, he was shocked at the sight he saw, his room was very neat and all of his clothes had been washed and hanged neatly on the hanger. His shoes glistened in the corner where it had been arranged.

The floor looked neat enough that food could be eaten from it. His armor shone in the corner like it was brand new and to crown it all, his dinner was already on the table.

He looked at Kayden in wonder, "you did this all by yourself?"

"yes my lord." Kayden replied.

"you are sure you had no help?"

"none whatsoever my lord."

"You are quite impressive" Aidan said.

"Thank you my lord. Is there anything else I can do for you tonight?" Kayden asked.

Aidan looked around but he couldn't think of anything else to do. "Just wait for me to finish dinner so you can take the plates away." he said.

"yes my lord"

Aidan finished his dinner and Kayden packed the dishes. He was about leaving when Aidan called him back.

"You did well today Kayden, are you sure you want to be my servant?" he asked.

"Yes my lord." Kayden answered.

"Why?"

"Uhmm because the king appointed me to be your servant" Kayden replied him.

"Hmmm, I see. You may go."

"Thank you my lord. Have a good night rest" Kayden said.

Kayden staggered to the room very tired. Immediately he entered the room, he collapsed into the small bed Samuel had brought in for him.

"Rough day?" Samuel asked.

"You have no idea. Back when I was home, we always heard how the prince was a good man, very considerate and nice. There were all lies" Kayden said.

Samuel looked at him in amusement. "why do you say so?"

"he is a very cruel person, you should have seen all the chores he made me do." Kayden complained.

"I can assure you that the prince is actually a good man. Just have patience, you will see his good side soon." Samuel consoled him as he massaged his shoulders.
