The Beecroft manor
Lord George Beecroft was looking for a suitable husband for his first granddaughter, Olivia Beecroft.
She was a divorced woman who had married her high school love against her grandfather’s wishes and even had a son with him.
Her ex-husband abandoned her seven years ago shortly after she gave birth their son.
They had only finalized their divorce recently because he planned to get married to another woman.
This news of her getting remarried spread like a wildfire within the first two days that her family had put the announcement out.
The manor received so many letters that there were now more than enough suitors for Olivia.
Not surprising because they were an influential family.
Lord George’s fortunes picked up when his old friend who had since passed away had given him one million dollars to invest in his business.
The old man's life changed after that.
Olivia sat at a corner in the large room in the manor with her parents, her blood boiling.
She could not believe that she was being forced to get married again.
She had buried herself into working hard and helping the family business but her grandfather believed that marriage should be her next step.May felt exactly the same way.
Her only child had gone through a depressive phase when she had her son and her ex-husband left her, yet they wanted her to go through the same situation again.
May Beecroft charged at her husband, “Are you going to let them do this to our baby?”
Lord George has two children of his own and his niece in his care.
Kelvin Beecroft was the youngest of them but he was the first to have a girl child. His older siblings and cousin, Justin, Blossom and Ian.
“All you have to do is tell them no, and they will not have her get married to anyone.” May yelled at Kev.
She hated how her husband was weak when it came to his family, he found it very hard to say no to his elder siblings.
May knew how much his sister and brothers disliked her daughter, they were not trying to find her a husband because they were nice.
They had an end goal and she didn't have a good feeling about it.
Of all the grandchildren who worked at the family company, Olivia had started the latest compared to them and she had achieved more milestones than the other kids because she had been diligent with her work.
May noticed how much her in-laws hated that her daughter was doing better than their kid and was starting to gain a soft spot in Lord George’s heart.
She had looked through the list of suitors that submitted their names before coming to the manor. They were all unknown countrymen who were searching to take in a second or third wife.
It was as if someone had required low standard men to apply to marry her daughter.
May had never been a classist woman in the past but the only time she trusted a pauper to marry her daughter, her trust was broken. She regretted allowing her daughter to marry him.
She had always believed if her daughter married a refined man from a reputable family, he would have some decency and not treat her the way her ex had done.
As if that wasn't enough, one of the names on the list belonged to a man whose family went from grace to grass.
No one in high society even heard of them anymore.
Kelvin understood how his wife felt about his daughter’s marriage arrangement.
He was not happy with it either.
Going against his older siblings and his father who shared this same fiery temper while he inherited his late mother's gentleness, was like slipping ice into raging fire, nothing would be done.
“Let’s trust father with this one, May. He loves Olivia and knows what is best for her,” Kelvin said to his wife in hopes that calmed her down but it only worsened things.
“How did I ever agree to marry you? I should have said no to you proposing to me! I should not have married a man who could not fight for me and my daughter.” She fired.
May knew her husband was going to stick to leaving things as they were. He had always been that way but it seemed like he had worsened since he stepped down from his position.
That was one of the terms he gave his father when he asked him to bring Olivia into the company after she had gone ‘astray’.
Olivia knew this was all her fault. If she had not married that man, her father would still have a say in the family. “Mom, please go easy on daddy, it is not his fault that this is happening."
She tugged at her mom’s arm. “You know how grandpa’s taste is, he will not pick someone who is not good enough for me and you know that, Ma.” Olivia tried to comfort her.
“Lord George has finally made a decision, and he wants everyone in the study now.” Secretary Wang announced.

Andrew handed the boy over to his dad when he arrived at the location.
He left abductors at the scene after he had made a report to the police.
He was happy that he was able to save the little kid and he hoped that the universe would always provide help for his own daughter whenever she needed it.
He got on his bike and returned to his base, settled in and took a shower.
When he got back, he received a text from his mom.
Andrew was surprised to see that his mom texted him, she and his dad had gone no contact as they had planned to retire in the countryside with the rest of their savings.
“The investment we made just yielded a billion dollars, son.”
“It’s all yours now. Your father and I have no plans to return to the city. I know that money can’t bring back the times we lost together.”
“When you have the time, come visit with your wife and little Anna.”

Jacob was halfway through buttoning his shirt when his phone rang.He glanced at the screen, frowned, and answered. “Yes?”Bella watched from the edge of the bed as his posture straightened, his tone shifting into something polished and professional, the voice he never used with her anymore.“Europe?” he repeated. “Two days?”He listened, jaw tightening, then nodded even though the caller couldn’t see him. “Understood. I’ll be there.”When he ended the call, he exhaled sharply and ran a hand through his hair.“What is it?” Bella asked.“HR,” he said, already turning toward the wardrobe. “The new global boss is coming for inspection. He wants to see all the company’s heads. I need to be in Europe in two days.”Her stomach dropped. Europe. Distance. Space. Opportunity.“When were you planning to tell me?” she asked quietly.“I just did.”He pulled out a suit, laid it flat on the bed with mechanical precision. Everything about him suddenly moved faster, sharper as if she’d already become
Chapter 105
Olivia and May had argued, researched, prayed, and worried themselves thin before finally reaching a decision. Every school prospect came with glossy brochures and rehearsed assurances, but none could erase the memory of Ethan’s kidnapping, the panic, the helplessness, the scars that never quite faded. What they needed was not just excellence or prestige. They needed safety without compromise. That was how Unicorn Day and Boarding School entered their lives. The first thing Olivia noticed when they drove through the iron gates was the silence not the dead kind, but a controlled calm. The gates were tall, matte black, and reinforced with discreet steel panels that looked ornamental until you looked closer. Security cameras were embedded so seamlessly into the wrought designs that they appeared decorative. A uniformed guard greeted them by name, having checked their arrival time moments earlier, and the gates slid shut behind them with a low, final hum.Unicorn Day and Boarding Sch
Chapter 104
Becca stood at the edge of the corridor long after Olivia and Andrew disappeared behind the carved oak doors. She hadn’t followed them not because she couldn’t, but because she refused to look desperate. Still, the image burned into her mind. Andrew hadn’t bowed. He hadn’t explained himself. He hadn’t even looked rattled when Blossom accused him of theft. Instead, he stood there calm, composed, snapping his fingers like a man who owned the room. Becca clenched her fingers around the stem of her wine glass until her knuckles whitened. “This wasn’t how it was supposed to go,” she muttered. The dinner had been her moment. Blossom had promised it would be. The accusations, the whispers, the careful poisoning of doubt Andrew was supposed to crack. Olivia was supposed to look foolish for defending a man with no standing. Instead, Olivia looked… protected. That was unforgivable. “Becca.” She turned sharply. Lake Chad stood a few feet away, his expression uneasy, his brows dr
Chapter 103
Andrew stepped out of Lord George’s study and closed the door behind him softly. The hallway was quieter now. Most of the guests had retreated to smaller rooms, whispering, speculating, pretending not to listen while doing exactly that.He had taken only three steps when he sensed her.Olivia stood a few feet away from the door, arms crossed, posture stiff. She wasn’t trying to hide. She was waiting. Her eyes met his, dark and searching, irritation barely contained beneath a thin layer of restraint.“Come with me,” she said flatly.Andrew opened his mouth, but she had already turned on her heel.He followed. She didn’t slow down, not once, leading him through familiar corridors of the Beecroft manor until they reached the far wing. Olivia pushed open a door and stepped inside, then turned sharply and grabbed his wrist, dragging him in after her before shutting the door with a decisive click.Only then did she let go.“Sit,” she said, pointing at the armchair near the window.Andrew
Chapter 102
Lord George closed the door to his study and did not bother locking it. He never did. Anyone foolish enough to eavesdrop usually regretted it.Andrew stood where he always did near the desk, posture relaxed but respectful, hands loosely clasped behind him. Lord George moved to the liquor cabinet and poured himself a drink. He did not offer Andrew one.“How did the mission go?” he asked, without turning around.“Well,” Andrew replied. “Clean.”“That’s all you ever say.”“Because that’s all you need to hear.” he chuckledLord George smiled faintly and carried his glass to the desk. “And your welfare?” he asked, settling into his chair. “You look thinner.”Andrew exhaled once. “Occupational hazard.”“Hm.” Lord George studied him over the rim of his glass. “You’re not on active rotation anymore.”“No.”The word was firm. Decided.Lord George leaned back. “I’ll be taking a break from the SSA.”“A break,” Lord George echoed. “That’s new.”“Temporary,” Andrew said. “My parents’ company nee
Chapter 101
The silence Andrew’s gifts created did not last.Blossom recovered first. She laughed, short and brittle, the sound scraping against the stunned quiet. “Oh, please,” she said, waving a dismissive hand. “Do you all really believe this nonsense?”Several heads turned.Blossom’s eyes locked onto Andrew, sharp and accusing. “Those gifts didn’t come from you. They came from Olivia’s money.”Olivia stiffened. “That’s not true.”Blossom ignored her. “A man without a real job suddenly shows up with diamonds, contracts, cars?” She scoffed. “Do you think we’re stupid?”Andrew remained seated, posture relaxed, hands folded loosely on the table. He did not rush to defend himself.Blossom pressed on, encouraged by his silence. “You’ve been living off my niece since day one. Using her money to buy favors and pretend you’re something you’re not.”Olivia pushed her chair back and stood. “I did not give him my money,” she said, voice clipped. “Not a single cent.”Blossom turned on her immediately. “Of
