Abrill didn’t waste time. She practically dragged Sean across the street, ignoring his grumbles as she yanked open the door to the nearest upscale men’s boutique.

The shop was pristine, well lit, and smelled faintly of expensive leather and cedarwood. A few staff members looked up as they entered, their eyes flickering with interest.

Abrill walked straight to the nearest rack and addressed a passing staff member with practiced ease.

“I’m looking for something suitable for him to wear to a formal party. He’s a bit of a challenge, though.”

The moment the words left her lips, a female staff member turned to her with a bright smile.

“Good afternoon, Miss Stroud,” she greeted warmly. “Welcome. We’ve been informed of your arrival. Please, this way.”

Hearing that, Sean was sure she had planned this from the very beginning. She already knew he wouldn’t refuse.

Abrill gave a small nod in return, her heels clicking softly against the floor as she led Sean further inside. The staff was already mo

Macy’s lips parted, but no words came out. If she’d been able to afford the shirt, maybe things would have turned out differently. But now, with no way to pay and Abrill standing there, she couldn’t even think of a proper response to the question she’d just been asked.Abrill took a single step forward, her heels clicking sharply against the floor like gunshots.“I asked you a question.”Macy blinked rapidly, suddenly feeling like a child caught red-handed. She knew that if she didn’t come up with something fast, she’d be in even deeper trouble.“I... I… it wasn’t on purpose,” she said, her voice barely audible.Abrill’s glare didn’t waver. “So you did throw the tea. At Mr. Sean.”It wasn’t a question anymore. It was a statement, a cold, sharp confirmation wrapped in fury. The tone made Macy’s stomach twist.“I didn’t…” Macy tried to deny it quickly.Sean’s brows arched as she lied again, right to Abrill’s face. It was as if she thought he wouldn’t speak up. Or worse, like she was moc

Her eyes were wide, like she had just seen something terrifying, and the price glared back at her. She blinked, trying to count the numbers and make sure she was seeing it right.Price: 100,285.00 USD.Realizing she wasn’t seeing things, Macy gasped out loud. She quickly lowered the phone like it might burn her and blinked several times, as if the number would magically change. But it didn’t.It just sat there, staring at her.Lucy leaned over Macy’s shoulder, curious after hearing the gasp. When she saw the price, she gasped too.The other workers, seeing both reactions, gathered closer, wondering what could make them gasp like that.“Wait… did it say over a hundred thousand dollars?” Lucy exclaimed. The others heard the price and froze. Silence filled the boutique. Now that they realized Sean had been wearing that shirt—one from a brand they had never even heard of—they all understood he wasn’t just some ordinary guy. And they had already offended him.Instead of trying to make up f

It all happened too fast.Sean instinctively ducked, but not fast enough. The tea missed his face, but a large splash hit his shoulder, soaking into his white shirt and staining it instantly. The boutique fell silent. No more snickering. No more smug grins.Everyone froze, except Macy. She wore a large frown and didn’t look the slightest bit remorseful. There was one thing Macy hated more than anything: being ignored by a guy she was targeting. She usually had them eating out of the palm of her hand, mesmerized, stammering, or speechless. But Sean hadn’t paid her any attention, and that pissed her off more than she could handle.Sean looked down at his soaked shoulder, jaw tightening. Then, slowly, he lifted his gaze to Macy. He’d chosen to ignore them all at first, and didn't want to waste his breath. But now that she had taken it this far and thrown a drink at him, staying silent wasn’t an option anymore. He was going to speak. Let's get her to realize how wrong she was. But then he

Sean peered at her. He had completely forgotten that today was the launch of Rosalind’s new company, the one she had partnered on with the Strouds. He hadn’t even remembered the time. But one thing he was sure of: he probably wasn’t invited. Even though it had been clearly stated the previous night that everyone at the table was invited, he knew he wasn’t one of the people they had in mind. So, he shook his head.“No, I’m not willing to go.”Abrill studied him quietly after his refusal, wondering why he seemed so disinterested in attending the launch. Was it because of Rosalind? Or something else? Either way, she didn’t bring it up, not yet.Instead, she leaned back slightly, her voice casual.“By the way… why didn’t you include your ex-wife as one of the partners suitable for the Strouds?”Sean looked at her for a beat, then shrugged. “No particular reason. I just picked the two best options we had.” He paused, his tone still indifferent. “I had your assistant send them back to you

Sean blinked, then leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable once again. He hadn’t expected her to say something like that just to get a reaction out of him. Still, he was curious about the trouble that might be heading his way. If Vincent had someone behind him who might come looking for revenge, Sean needed to know who it was in order to deal with them effectively. However, he disliked the fact that something else might disrupt his peace and force him to give up more of his research time. “I’m just curious,” he responded coolly, his tone flat. “Since you’ve already made up your mind about me, I might as well listen.” Sighing, she crossed her arms before speaking. “Vincent might have acted all high and mighty in Granvetton, but he wasn’t the one people truly feared. He might’ve been the face of the terror—but he wasn’t the head of the organization, even though he liked to pretend he was.” Sean tilted his head, his eyes narrowing slightly. “Then who is? If Vincent
