Still, something gnawed at the edge of his mind.

“I’ll tell you if I remember anything,” he said stiffly, brushing it off.

Silas let out a bitter laugh. “Of course. The cripple can’t even remember what day it is.”

Ace’s fists tightened in his lap, but he didn’t respond.

Selene pulled out her phone and walked toward the door.

“We’ll find out who did this,” she said. “Even if we have to dig up every enemy Vincent ever made.”

Selene was furious. First, it had been Vincent’s twin sister who died for no clear reason. Now Vincent himself had been brutally murdered. That made two siblings gone, and the weight of that loss settled deep in her chest like a growing storm.

All they had left now was each other.

She left the room with her phone already in her ear, calling someone who didn’t ask questions and got results.

Back inside, Ace sat stiffly in his wheelchair, still thinking.

Sean…

That name echoed louder now than before. Sean had been the last one to openly challenge Vincent. He hadn’t ju

Sean sat on a wooden bench in the quiet garden, a half-eaten sandwich in his hand and two more resting neatly inside the lunchbox on his lap. He chewed slowly, calm and unhurried, savoring each bite as though the chaos of the world had nothing to do with him.The crunch of footsteps broke the stillness. His gaze shifted from the sandwich to the direction the sound came from. He couldn’t see anyone yet, but the hurried rhythm told him they would appear soon. He wondered vaguely what they were searching for that required so many people.Several voices followed, sharp with urgency.“Have you found Sean yet?” Abril’s voice rang out.Sean’s brow lifted slightly. ‘They’re looking for me?&rsquo

Slowly, his eyes fluttered open. The sharp sting of white light blinded him for a moment, and he blinked until his vision cleared. Above him was a stark white ceiling, fluorescent lamps burning with sterile brightness. The faint, unmistakable scent of disinfectant filled his nose. The hospital. He was in the hospital.Confusion clouded his mind—until a rush of memory slammed into him. The car. The screech of tires. The blinding headlights. The deafening crash as the truck smashed into them. His heart thudded in his chest, horror widening his eyes.“No…” He gasped, trying to sit up, but his body betrayed him. His arms felt like lead, his legs heavier still. Panic surged as he struggled against the invisible chains of pain and weakness, but nothing

The car stopped at the hospital, and Dorian and Wesley stepped out. The guard led them inside, their footsteps echoing through the quiet halls. The hospital was strangely still. The corridors weren’t crowded, and no voices echoed through them. No nurses patrolled the area, giving the place an eerie, hollow silence. At the reception near the emergency ward, however, nurses rushed back and forth, their faces drawn with worry. One clutched the phone to her ear, speaking quickly.“We still can’t reach their families… We need permission for the surgery. Without it, we can’t proceed. And the surgery itself is risky—if we delay any longer, they might not survive.”Dorian and Welsey pushed forward, but a nurse quickly stepped in front o

When Dorian had first heard that Kade had been found outside, unable to breathe, he hadn’t believed it. Neither had Welsey. But seeing it with their own eyes left no room for doubt.Kade was really dead. And not only was he dead, but his condition made it worse. At first glance, it might have looked like he had stumbled, tripped, and struck his head while running. But the truth was written across his body. His clothes were soaked in blood. The injuries and bruises weren’t from a fall. He hadn’t simply collapsed. He had been beaten mercilessly. So badly that he had bled to death.Dorian’s jaw tightened as he tore his gaze from the body and turned sharply to the guard who had found him.“Did he say anything before he died?” Dorian asked coldly. The guard swallowed hard and shook his head. “No, sir. By the time I found him, he was already in this state. He didn’t say a word… he was gone.”Silence stretched. Welsey’s hands clenched into fists at his sides, his face twisted in disbelief.“

  • CHAPTER 160

It was already 11 p.m. when Wesley began to grow uneasy. The men he had sent out still hadn’t returned. His jaw tightened as he paced back and forth, glancing at his wristwatch. He had been standing there far too long and was growing restless. He hadn’t gone back to sit with Abril and Dorian because he hadn’t yet completed what he needed to do, and now, he had no idea where his men might be.“Tch. What’s taking them so long?” he muttered, irritation laced with a flicker of doubt. After a moment, he sighed and made up his mind. “I’ll go to Dorian. He’ll have their contact information since I don’t have my phone with me.”Turning around, he pushed the door open. His gaze immediately locked on Dorian, who raised his head at the sound. He and Abril were still talking—well, Dorian was. She had done little more than nod her head here and there, offering quiet acknowledgments to his words. The intensity in Wesley’s eyes made it clear that something was wrong. As if sensing the weight of the

Sean was certain now that whatever time he’d planned to use to relax at this event was about to be completely wasted.“You can go ahead with the event,” he told Abrill. She turned her head toward him and shook it. “No. I want to stay here and see what’s happening.”Her eyes twinkled with curiosity, and he sighed.“Okay.”Rosalind reached them just then, her gaze landing on her brother and sister. Both immediately moved toward her, confusion written across their faces.“Are you friends with her?” Lillian asked, gesturing toward Abrill.Rosalind felt like she’d just been insulted. Why would her sibling think she was friends with her ex-husband’s lover? That was impossible.“There’s no way,” Rosalind said, her gaze locked on Abrill, who stared right back. “We are not friends.”Abrill tightened her hold on Sean’s arm and nodded in agreement. “That’s right. We can never be friends, but we could do business together.”Rosalind’s eyes flicked to Sean’s arm before returning to Abrill, her lip
