None of them answered.

Vincent’s eyes were blazing now. “What the hell do I even pay you for? To stand around in suits and clap when things go wrong?! You had one job—to protect him. One. And instead, he ends up in a hospital bed, screaming about getting castrated?!”

Still, no one spoke.

Vincent stepped forward, his voice dropping to something colder than ice. “You’re all useless. If you can’t handle one man, then you’re not fit to stand by my side—hell, you’re not even fit to call yourselves men.”

They lowered their heads, shame burning in their guts.

Vincent exhaled—slow and dangerous.

“Fine. You failed once. Don’t fail again.”

He pointed to the street. “Go. Bring me that Sean.”

One of the men looked up, hesitant. “And if he resists—?”

Vincent didn’t even blink. “Break his legs.”

Another man gulped. “Sir, alive or—?”

“Alive,” Vincent snapped. “I want him breathing when I deal with him. But don’t be gentle. I want him to know what happens when someone lays a hand on a Carlisle.”

For a moment, silence reigned. Their expressions froze in collective disbelief, eyes darting between one another as if hoping someone else would confirm what they had just heard.Rosalind’s gaze faltered as she stared at Abrill, waiting for her to laugh it off as a joke. But Abrill wore a look of confidence that only deepened Rosalind’s confusion. She raised her head to glance at Sean, but his expression was unreadable, giving no hint as to whether Abrill was lying or not.More than that, he didn’t even seem to be paying attention; his gaze was elsewhere, detached from their heated exchange. Then, as if on cue, they all erupted.“Don’t be ridiculous!” Lillian exclaimed, shaking her head furiously. “That’s impossible!”“Do you think we’re fools?” Jullian snarled, his face twisted with scorn. “Stop lying! Do you even know what kind of person Ms. Vesper is supposed to be?”Even Rosalind, who had wavered in suspicion a moment earlier, stepped forward with a sharp, disdainful laugh. For a

Though Nate was waiting for a reaction from Sean, Sean only looked away, as if he couldn’t care less about what Nate was trying to pull.“The main event will be starting soon since Ms. Vesper is here,” Sean said flatly. “Are you going to keep showing her this performance?”At those words, everyone immediately turned their heads toward the door, expecting to see a woman walk in. Rosalind panicked and whipped around, but when she saw no one there, she quickly snapped her head back to Sean.Realizing she’d been tricked, irritation flashed across her face, her brows knitting tightly.Rosalind’s voice sliced the air. “Why do you have to play around with something like that?!” she snapped.“You think this is a joke?” Jullian barked. “Do you realize how serious this is? Don’t throw names like hers around carelessly!”“Exactly,” Lillian chimed in, glaring at Sean. “How can you say Ms. Vesper is here, acting like you know what you’re talking about? Are you trying to stir chaos?”Abrill’s eyes

Sean had no idea things would escalate like this. If he’d known the conversation with the siblings would take this turn, he wouldn’t have bothered responding to them at all. The event was already underway, and it was almost time for Abrill to be called onto the stage. The last thing he wanted was for her to be caught up in this nonsense. His jaw clenched. Now Rosalind was getting involved, and to make matters worse, Nate was approaching with another man walking beside him. Sean was certain now that whatever time he’d planned to use to relax at this event was about to be completely wasted. “You can go ahead with the event,” he told Abrill. She turned her head toward him and shook it. “No. I want to stay here and see what’s happening.” Her eyes twinkled with curiosity, and he sighed. “Okay.” Rosalind reached them just then, her gaze landing on her brother and sister. Both immediately moved toward her, confusion written across their faces. “Are you friends with her?” Lillian ask

  • CHAPTER 126

“Hey, Nate! Is that you?” a voice called out.Turning around, Nate looked at the speaker, his brows furrowing in mild confusion. Standing there was one of his high school classmates. They hadn’t been particularly close, but they’d been in the same group and had spoken a few times back then.“You’re here,” Nate replied, turning fully to face him. “It’s been a while since we last saw each other. When did you get back? I heard from the others that you left the country for business.”Without waiting for a response, Nate leaned closer to the young man.“You look more ripped than before,” he remarked. “What’s your routine, Owen?”Owen grinned at the comment and, without hesitation, held out his arm, curling it slightly to make the muscle stand out. The veins along his forearm popped, and the fabric of his sleeve strained just a little as he flexed.“Not bad, huh?” he said with a hint of pride.Nate chuckled and gave an approving nod. “Yeah… you’ve definitely been putting in the work. • CHAPTER 125

As soon as Abrill stepped in, everyone turned to look at her. She arched her brows at them. She had just left Sean for a moment, and suddenly, he was getting harassed. She couldn’t help but wonder why that seemed to happen so often. Her eyes locked on Lillian, cool and unimpressed. She recognized her immediately, even though she had never met her. The resemblance to Rosalind was striking, though Lillian looked like a younger, ruder version.Rosalind, on the other hand, widened her eyes in disbelief. She had thought Sean wouldn’t attend since he mentioned the launch would be after three days. She assumed he was just here to eat. But now, seeing Abrill by his side, her lips pressed into a thin line.‘He actually brought his woman to my event.’Even if they were divorced, this was too much. To her, it wasn’t just bad taste, it was a deliberate show of disrespect. She had been about to step in and help him smooth things over with her younger siblings, making it seem like nothing happened.
