A Memorable Battle

Standing in the secret room, James was filled with shock as he tried to make sense of the visions he just saw.

"Are you okay my lord" The city lord asked with a worried face.

"Yes I am, um.. whose bow is this?" James asked.

"Oh this bow was given to us by a stranger who said that we should keep it safe and that when the time is right, the owner will come to claim it" The city lord said.

"What did the person like look like" James asked the city lord.

"I didn't actually see his face because he wore a cape but I did see a part of his hair which was golden" The city lord replied as he remembered.

"Where is this place called?" James asked again.

"This place is called the city of light" The city lord answered calmly.

"The city of light, wait there isn't anywhere on earth that is called the city of light" James said as he grew more confused.

"Earth?, isn't that the planet that the stranger said, the owner of the bow will come from?" The city lord said confused.

"What planet is this? " James said also confused.

"This planet is called Zenith" The city lord said suspiciously as he started to wonder if this stranger was crazy.

As he was thinking about the name, James suddenly had a vision and in this vision, he saw the golden haired figure again and this time he had a good look at him.

He had a nice build similar to his, he also had a lightening symbol on his head which when added with his blue eyes were enough to make any woman go crazy.

It was at this moment that James saw his face clearly and he was surprised because it was 80% similar to his own and it was the same as a humans

The golden haired man was bleeding from an injury in his chest but he wasnt concerned about that instead he looked into the sky as he made some complex signs with his hands.

When he stopped, he pointed his hands into the sky and then bolts of lightening flew into the sky and formed a barrier on the sky but it was evident that it consumed much of his energy because when he finished, he was as pale as paper.

"Now earth is safe for another 30 years and I can start preparing to search for a new body suitable for me" The golden haired man said as he coughed out blood and then he placed his hand on his chest and muttered some words.

When he finished, his eyes glowed with a bright blue light and a blue light shot out into the sky and his body turned into ashes.

The vision ended and he was once again soaked in sweat as he tried to make sense of what was going, he was so confused that he sat down.

"Are you okay, you are behaving very strangely" The city lord asked with confusion.

"Yeah I am okay, so what else did the stranger tell you" James asked curiously.

As the city lord was about to talk, everything froze and started to dissapear as the scenery also changed.

"Wait, what else did he tell you" James asked as he tried to touch the city lord but he just passed through him like he was air and before he could do anything, he was back in the same place where he met the system.

"Why did you do that, I was just starting to understand what is going on" James asked angrily.

"You can't understand or else everything you did will have been in vain" The system said with a complex expression.

"What are you talking about? " James asked still angry.

"It wasn't supposed to be like this but it seems that you are more powerful than we thought" The system said as he inspected James.

"Could you even try to say something that I can understand and stop confusing me" James said when he realized that the system was thinking about something else.

"Sorry for that, well I will try to explain things to you as quickly as I can because your real body is in danger" The system said.

""Thank you, wait did you say I am in danger" James said as his brain processed the last part of what the system said.

"You were once a powerful God who I am sure you already know as the God of lightening, you were one of the strongest Gods and at that time, the Titans were already at war with the Gods and they were in a stalemate " The system paused as he waited for James to process what he just said then continued.

"That was when the demons who were at that time the strongest tribe in the universe, sided with the Titans in exchange for a chance to also become titans" The system paused again.

"After ascending to the plane of titans, they joined the Titans to engage in a fierce battle with the gods which broke the balance and gave the Titans the upper hand, after gaining the upper hand, the Titans engaged in an all out war with the Gods which caused the deaths of many Gods but luckily you managed to breakthrough to become a semi-immortal " The system said and paused again.

"When the Titans found out that you had become a semi-immortal, they sent various titans against you but due to your strength, you always managed to escape and defeat whoever they sent after you until the last battle when you were ambushed by 15 demon emperors who wielded a God slaying weapon but luckily you managed to call for reinforcements" The system said again and paused.

" The three of you managed to kill 10 of them but you got stabbed with the God slaying weapon and your friends were also injured so you tried to escape but the demons had placed a barrier around them to prevent you from escaping so you were forced to use your secret weapon to escape" The system said and paused again but this time longer than the previous ones.

"Even though you managed to escape after making a vow to return and exact your revenge, the method you used had serious consequences because it required the user to sacrifice something precious for a chance to gain unlimited power for a short amount of time and because you already knew that you would die, you sacrificed your life in exchange for a chance for the three of you to transmigrate" The system said then paused again.

"Before you transmigrated, you visited your hometown to drop off your bow at a certain place called the city of light because they once saw several bolts of lightening strike the walls of their city and so it was named the city of light, I know you are probably wondering where I come from" The system said with mysteriousness.

"I was created by an immortal who wanted to reward you for your actions but that cost him a lot because immortals aren't supposed to involve themselves in the affairs of God's and humans"The system said again.

"You were lucky to be noticed by the immortal otherwise your rise would have been difficult and the missions I gave you were memories from your former self that were supposed to trigger the important memories buried inside you but you unlocked the memories before the end of the test and hereby you couldn't awaken your hidden power so you need something strong to trigger it and I am sure that you will get just that in the coming fight, you will get your reward when you awaken and yes good luck cause you will need it" The system said with a grin before disappearing.

"Wait what do you mean by the coming fight?" James said after digesting what the system said and before his question could be answered, his surrounding became blurry and he lost consciousness.

After he lost consciousness, he woke up in his room and stood up to observe his surroundings.

When he confirmed where he was, he saw three gold chests on the ground and after opening the three of them, he got 3 items.

The first one was a mask called the deceit which changes the appearance of the wearer, the second one was a cloak which makes the wearer invisible and the last one was a dagger which made him grin when he saw it's stats.

Meanwhile in the city, the city lord was having a meeting with his generals and his parents when a guard rushed into the room.

"Why have you interrupted our meeting, you better have a good reason otherwise you will regret it" The city lord said angrily.

"I am sorry for interrupting you my lord but we have a huge problem, the is a huge horde of monsters rushing towards us and we have estimated that they will arrive in 5 hours" The guard said hurriedly.

"Gather the soldiers, we are going to war, this mission is adorned, prepare for battle" The city lord said to the guard and the generals then left.

After the city lord left, his parents also turned to leave while conversing.

"So have you found a way to defeat the monsters?" The woman asked.

"Oh yes I have" The man replied the woman.

'Then this will be a memorable battle" The woman said with a smile.

"Yes, a memorable battle indeed" The man said with a grin as his eyes glowed red with a menacing light.
