Hours later,

~Pant~

~Pant~

Art was covered in sweat while panting profusely. He lay flat on the floor of his room.

With the state of his body, anyone who sees him would conclude that he was going to die at any second. Damn! He even looked like a ghost.

Still, he had an exhausted smile as he stared at the screen in front of him.

[Exercise:

10 km run: incomplete

Feeding:

5 Litres of water:✓

5 kg of food:✓]

Now, he only had to do the 10 km run.

It had taken him over six hours to do all this, and honestly, he didn't think that he was going to make it, but here he was.

He drank more water and rested for some minutes before heading out to the large training field.

He didn't need any help getting to the destination he needed.

Even though he just arrived a day ago, he knew this mansion like the back of his hand.

When he arrived at the large field he could see about 3 people who were doing different sorts of training.

The way they trained wasn't like his former world as they needed a lot of space to do this.

One of them was practicing with a spear and with the way she moved graciously, along with the evening sun rays, was a very beautiful sight.

“I better get to…………” he paused as some memories flooded in causing him to take several steps backwards with widened eyes.

“Not this!” he cursed in annoyance.

It turns out that the former body owner had a big crush on the girl he was looking at but didn't have the courage to approach her due to his low self-esteem.

She didn't come for breakfast this morning which was why this was happening now. Not just her, a total of four didn't show up.

She wasn't like those who mocked him to his face but she looked down on him nevertheless.

Noticing his presence, she looked towards him a little confused.

“Are you okay?”

“Yes,” Art waved dismissively, walking away.

"Hmmm?” She looked at him in confusion.

“These memories are a burden in several ways.” He didn't like what he was feeling at all and knew it would take some time to kill.

These memories were affecting his emotions towards some people.

First Racheal, then those three boys, although he didn't dislike that one, and now this girl whose name is Cait.

After creating enough distance, he focused on the task at hand.

He didn't need to run across the field completely before finishing the quest which showed how big it was.

After taking a deep breath, he began running and some people who watched him from a distance busted into laughter.

Why won't they? The sight was just too funny.

He looked like a hanged cloth flapping with the wind, threatening to be blown away. The worst part being that he wasn't even moving fast.

Art tried his best to push through the wind resistance against him. This level of resistance won't even pose a problem to people from his former world, and here he was, struggling.

From his POV, he looked determined and cool trying his best to push through despite difficulties but that was not the case for others.

Even with him putting his best effort, his speed kept decreasing and after 2 km he couldn't take it anymore and wanted to take a break. That was until he began hearing footsteps from behind which were approaching very quickly.

Looking back, he saw the blue-eyed and silver-haired girl who didn't give any attention to anyone this morning at the dining table.

Her name was Iris and she was the cold type who avoided people. Even the look on her eyes said it all.

She was also considered the strongest among all of them, so even with her beauty, no one tried to approach her for fear of not getting on her bad side.

Well, that was except for one person who they haven't heard from in the past two months after a….umm…..certain incident.

Even the former him was no different.

It pained him to see her who had just started jogging about two minutes ago overtake him. This motivated him to push harder.

He continued running behind her, watching the distance between them increase with every second.

This went on for some time and now he could barely see her. But that was the least of his worries as his body had long exceeded its limits.

He wanted to go on but his body completely froze up as he fell limply to the ground.

He had put his weak body in a tough spot and was now beginning to lose consciousness but he forced himself to stay awake because of the words written on the screen.

[Host has leveled up!]

[Host has leveled up!]

[Host has leveled up!]

[+15 stat points to distribute]

He was surprised that he had crossed 10 km.

He couldn't explain the kind of joy he felt from leveling up.

With a smile on his face, he proceeded to check his stats.

The smile on his face grew wider as he just got over three times his current stats.

Racheal who just arrived in a hurry after seeing him fall stared at him in confusion as she wasn't expecting him to have such an expression.

It was as though he had just found something to turn the tides of a battle to his favour. Unknown to her that she hit the bull’s eye.

“Do you need help?” she walked closer to him.

“Thanks, but no. I'll join you shortly.”

With this said she nodded before walking away, believing that he was pushing himself too hard, but she never expected him to complete a 10 km run, she could hardly believe it.

She wondered if maybe………, just maybe, he might be actually getting better this time.

Art focused back on the screen. He has tested it out on multiple occasions before concluding that he was the only one who could see the golden screen in front of him.

He wondered if the screen and his eye colour being the same was just a coincidence.

That aside, he started distributing the free stat points. He already knew the places he wanted them to go to and when he was done, a feeling washed through his body which was pleasing as he felt more alive.

Now, his status looked like this.

[Name: Art Von Silver

Free stats: 1]

He put more stats into vitality to help his poor body condition and stamina which would help out with his daily quests since he planned on using it to get stronger for now, while leaving one free stat point.

He would’ve put more into vitality but it would be suspicious if he just began to look healthier out of the blue.

He didn’t notice that even though he wasn’t looking healthy, as an average base mage have 10 points in all their stats, he looked much better than before.

The exhaustion he felt some seconds ago was now totally gone as he stood up

Deciding to check his new body out, he began running back to his starting point, which was another 10 km.

Mid-way, he began hearing footsteps once more and tilting his head sideways, he saw Iris with her usual poker face drawing closer before overtaking him again.

If he didn’t know her character from the memories he’d received, he would have believed that she was doing it on purpose.

After some minutes, he finally got to his destination falling to the ground completely exhausted.

He could tell that he wasn’t as drained as before.

After staring at the sky for a long time, with many thoughts about his past life and former family wondering how they took his death and what was going on now, he got strong enough to stand up and walk into the mansion headed straight for his room.

He was looking forward to dinner.

The people who were laughing at him earlier kept staring in surprise with a similar thought going through their heads.

‘Did he just complete a 20 km run?’

The ride wasn't a long one and they were now in a forest which was of course within the range they were allowed to go. Just as he anticipated, Racheal had brought him to this part of the forest which was mostly filled with a certain F-rank agility base beast. Beasts were separated into two classes. Normal and Magical. Magical unlike normal beasts could use mana and magic attributes, they also possessed mana cores just like humans. Mana cores were very important as almost everything runs with mana and they served like a battery. Both classes of beasts followed the same ranking. F-Rank E-Rank D-Rank C-Rank B-Rank A-Rank S-Rank S+ Rank Lesser beasts were from F to A-rank with A-rank and below being greater beasts. The cores produced by magical beasts also followed the same ranking. So this place was filled with the lowest rank of beasts but it was still too risky for someone like him. They both came out of the vehicle before glancing around. It seemed like they wer

His eyes were filled with wariness as he approached the wolf beast. He monitored every inch of its body to predict its movements which would cover up for his lack of speed. If he didn’t have all this training from his former world, his chances of victory would be nearly impossible but he did, which increased his probability of coming out victorious to 40 percent and this depended on his first attack, so he didn't plan on messing it up.This scenario reminded him of a time in his previous life when he had to defend himself from a crazy dog using a piece of broken glass and he emerged victorious with some injuries, most of which were caused by the weapon he used. Even though the weapon he wielded now was much better than any he had ever come across, this situation was worse than then.Racheal watched in worry as they both inched closer to each other with her heart racing and when they reached 10 meters apart, they both lunged forward. Art hasn’t been sitting down and leaving everything to her all this time. He had tried to distribute the stats he just received but much to his disappointment, the system didn’t permit him as his body was too weak to handle the kind of boost he was about to give it This was the last card he had but watching Racheal as she used magic reminded him of what happened when he, or better put, the former body owner saved the girl.Simply put, he could use magic.Although doing this was very risky, not doing anything was even riskier. He mustered as much strength as he could to stand up, before walking towards Rachael in the straight line from her to him which was water balls free. The journey to the mansion took him about 40 minutes, so he had 20 minutes left before the announcement and he needed a shower. There wasn’t anyone outside as this was still early in the afternoon with most of them being either in their room or the underground training arena.Oh! Forgot to mention that. There was a large training arena below the mansion where real training and sparring happened. The field on the outside was mostly for exercising and light training if the person wanted to do it outside. Art was yet to go there since he arrived in this world and he planned to do that soon. He walked into the mansion with a lot on his mind. He knew that he couldn’t depend on mana for now so he had to exercise the abilities of the Silvers to the fullest. He was thankful that he wasn’t born into a family that derived all their strength from the use of magic, or else he would’ve been doomed for having his mana core locked. “Greetings, Lord Gajeel,” the voiced out in unison while standing up with a bow.Art found this weird, but he had to do it. It was a sign of respect shown to senior members of the family and this wasn’t just done by the Silvers. Lord Gajeel didn’t usually meddle in their personal affairs. His job was just to observe, guide and pass on information to them. He let them do anything they pleased as long as it didn’t affect the few rules put on them. “Hahaha! Hurried footsteps echoed through a corridor, each one a sharp reminder of how much still needed to be done. The footsteps belonged to a man who barely registered the sound. His mind was far too preoccupied, and his body showed clear signs of exhaustion. As he moved, clipboards levitated around him. With a pen in hand, he scribbled quickly on the one before him, handing it to the assistant trailing behind—who was already weighed down with stacks of papers and documents—before grabbing another. • S-rank Artifact

Garron walked into a smaller door within the room.Art assumed it must be where he kept his most valuable items, as strong waves of mana surged out the moment the door opened—only to weaken once Garron stepped inside. Some kind of safety mechanism, most likely.Garron returned about a minute later, a box in hand.Art's gaze locked onto it.This time, the box was pitch black. Strangely, he couldn’t sense anything from it—but he waited patiently.Garron placed it on a smaller table near the edge of the room."Here. Open it."This was his first high-end project since the death of Rena, the former Third Sword.During its creation, he’d realized just how rusty he’d become over the five years without practice. He’d needed to pause at a crucial point in the crafting process and hone his skills on lesser works before returning to the mask. The knowledge he’d begun to grasp from the book Art had given him made a noticeable difference.Much of the ancient information on craftsmanship and alchem

"How did he find out?" Art mumbled while chewing on a fruit. Garron had seen right through him before leaving—clearly, a man who'd dealt with plenty of children and teenagers in his life.Night had fallen, and the synchronized chorus of insects performed a gentle orchestral hum across the forest.Art was currently lying on the thick branch of a large tree, his gaze fixed on the dark sky overhead. This tree would serve as his home for the night, as he had decided not to return to Yuh’s family house. At this point, there wasn’t much reason to go back.Maybe they were expecting him tonight, which, disappointing them on his part, wasn’t great—but sometimes, plans got ruined by circumstance. After everything he had learned, wandering around—especially at night—wouldn’t be the safest move for him anymore. He stared down at the fruit in his hand, his expression shifting into a frown. Not long ago, he was indulging in mouth-watering meals and warm beds. Now, he was stuck with fruit.Sure, he

  • A ticket to revenge

"I'm sorry for your loss. But I think you're making a mistake," Art said firmly. "You decided to throw your talent away because she was killed? Isn't that the same as letting her killer go free?"Garron's face dropped. "You never justified her death. Her killer must be out there, living quite the life.""You think I'm okay with that? There’s nothing I can do!" Garron burst out in a mix of sadness and frustration. "Trying to get revenge would only lead to more death.""And why is that?" Art pressed.Garron let out a sigh. "That armor I made for her, along with the artifacts, were the best I could produce. If her opponent destroyed even those... then anything else I make would be useless.""So, let me get this straight. You stopped crafting because you feel guilty for causing Jira's mother’s death, and you think your skills aren’t good enough to help bring her killer to justice?"Seeing no response, Art shook his head in disappointment. "So if there was a chance to help get rid of the

He paid close attention to his surroundings, making sure he wasn’t being followed. So far, nothing seemed out of place. But he knew his abilities in the outside world still weren’t sharp enough to trust completely. It took longer than if he had just asked openly, but he finally found the building the boy described. A massive, bleached dragon skull hung above the door, suspended by chains that glowed faintly with runic symbols. Its eye sockets flickered with soft blue light, as if watching everyone nearby. He glanced around cautiously."That must be it," he muttered, eyeing another building nearby before walking over.Art stopped in front of the building, now confident he’d found the right place. The building was tucked between two larger structures, yet it had a more special presence.Made from polished blackstone and silverwood, the shop had faintly glowing etchings across its s

Art walked back to where he’d left Kira. She immediately ran toward him the moment he came into view.Art could tell that staying alone was still very uncomfortable triggering for her after everything she’d gone through. "Are you alright?" he asked. She simply nodded, and they both left the area together.Art's next destination was to find an artifact blacksmith.Unlike weapon blacksmiths, who worked on creating or recreating weapons and armor, artifact blacksmiths handled other magical items—like the masks he had. Some blacksmiths were skilled enough to excel in both areas. But there was no way he’d find a good blacksmith in this place. He needed to go deeper into the city, to the mage districts—and taking Kira with him wouldn’t be ideal."Umm... Kira. I have to go to the main city. Do you know which teleportation station leads there?"She described the directions for him. "I'm guessing I can't go with you?""Yeah. It won't be very safe for you," he replied. • Beneficial Exchange

Under Art's watch, the shop owner loosened the fabric covering the box, exposing its design. The moment it was revealed, an ominous wave of mana surged outward."You might need to protect yourself with mana. It's dangerous," the man warned, raising his gaze to Art.Art wasn’t a newbie in dealings like this. In his former life, he had been exposed to similar situations since childhood. He had learned how to read people—their intentions, their unspoken words. The shop owner was conducting one final test to see if Art was truly worthy of the mask.If Art followed his advice and shielded himself with mana, it would signal that he wasn’t strong enough to naturally endure its aura. That would shatter the illusion of overwhelming strength he had carefully crafted. Someone at A or S-rank wouldn’t even flinch at something of this level, no matter how impressive it was. That said, Art could tell the mask's aura was genuinely dangerous. But he wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip away."Yo
