-SPURT-

Warm blood splashed across the nearby plants and drenched the upper body of the boy. A few drops landed on his face.

His eyes trembled in horror. "Why!" he whimpered. "I told you not to..."

"Come on! Stop being a baby." A voice identical to his own said—but rather than in front, it came from behind the young man.

That eerie phenomenon, however, wasn’t the most pressing issue for the young man, because the spilled blood was his.

His stretched-out arm... was gone. Severed completely from his body.

The pain finally caught up with him, and he let out a scream. Survival instincts kicked in, and he leaped backward, putting distance between himself and the boy.

And now he saw them clearly.

Two boys.

Identical in every way—hair, voice, clothing, even the shape of their eyes.

Twins? No. Even twins would be envious of such mirroring.

"What do you mean, Taylor? Why are you complaining? I did as you said," the one who had cut off his hand frowned. Unlike the trembling boy, he was complet

"Arghh!" A young man brushed bits of beast flesh off his sleeve. The remains clung like dried paste. Disgust twisted his face.“Ugh, revolting,” he muttered, flicking off a speck with the tip of a silver-polished nail. The battle had been brief—unworthy of him, but also messy. The blood wasn’t his, obviously. He never allowed himself to be touched. Still, the gore had the audacity to stain his imported, spellwoven tunic, which had been pristine moments ago.He exhaled sharply through his nose, eyes narrowing.“This terrain is absolutely barbaric,” he said aloud, brushing down his white pants with more care than he’d shown his opponent. “Wild, dirty, uncivilized. What were they thinking, holding a prestigious competition in a place like this?”He tugged the yellow ribbon tied above his brow, adjusting it like a crown. It glowed faintly beneath the shafts of sunlight, piercing the forest canopy—a symbol of refinement amidst the filth. He didn’t particularly like the yellow—it was far to

A frown crept onto Art’s face after the hot feeling in his hands left. [Energy Drain Completed] [+10 stat points]It was less than he had expected.Well, since we used little to no effort taking down the beast, expecting more would just be greedy. He held his head as a brief wave of dizziness washed over him before quickly fading. It was the usual side effect, though noticeably weaker than the first time. Probably because he hadn’t absorbed much this time. The beast lay still on the ground, even after Art removed his hand from its head. It was alive—but paralyzed. Completely unable to move. That was the effect of the Energy Drain skill. Victims became husks—empty vessels. And even now, Art didn’t know how long the paralysis would last… or if it would ever fade at all. With one swift motion, he ended the beast’s life and secured the EXP.The number on his shoulder—his rank—rose slightly, and new digits began to appear. A tally of his total points earned. Since he had only one D-rank

Lowering his mana aura, Art walked through the forest, which was indeed less dense than the one used during the raid.He didn’t want to scare off any beasts by giving off too much presence, which was why he suppressed it. Deep down, he also hoped some contestants would underestimate him enough to attack first. He didn’t want to go around starting fights as he had to build and mold his reputation as an adventurer, and it all began here.So far, he hadn’t encountered any beasts or contestants, nor had he found another ribbon. It was safe to assume the arena was large enough to accommodate all participants without forced conflict. A smart design choice. His vision was currently amplified by the third ability of his mask. Although it was draining his mana, he wasn’t bothered—thanks to the mask, he had a lot more mana than usual. With his current mana points, he could use the enhanced vision for three straight days before running out—assuming he didn’t recover any along the way. His stamin

"ROOOAARRRRR!!!!!!!!!" The crowd erupted in excitement as the test broadcast began. "Ladies and gentlemen!" the commentator's voice echoed. "Welcome to the 42nd Grand Magus Test! The contestants have all been teleported to the new test arena. This is the first main test, structured to assess their performance as individuals..." He proceeded to give a brief explanation of their objectives, which only heightened the crowd’s anticipation. --- Somewhere within the city... A group of four men dressed in black and grey cloaks, their faces mostly concealed, stood silently. In front of them was a display showing the test. "We went through a lot of trouble creating a fake guild just to participate in the recruitment for this test. What if we don't find anyone suitable, or none of them have what we're looking for?" one of them asked. "Worry not, I believe one of them will possess the spark we need," another replied calmly. "They might be criticized by the world for their nature, but we

  • Not just a race

"What? Did he just say a race?""I think so." Murmurs filled the room as some participants tried to wrap their heads around what they’d just heard.A lean boy with spiky black hair and sharp blue eyes looked down at his legs, which were covered with a hard yet flexible black material—engineered specifically to enhance and protect them during sudden bursts of speed caused by his attribute.A smirk formed on his face.'This is it. My time has come.'Meanwhile, another boy stared down at his large, protruding belly. “I’m cooked,” he muttered.Art frowned beneath the black-silver mask. Those closest to him subtly shifted away, sensing the slight but menacing aura that radiated from him.He hadn’t realized that his mana aura was slowly being affected by the mask. Others were very wary of him.Their goal here was simple: perform well enough to get noticed and chosen by a good guild. This wasn’t a deathmatch, so the best course was to avoid serious threats—unless forced.Well, that was how
