CHAPTER 35 — HOLD THE LINE
“These guys just keep coming. What the hell, man?” Adrian shouted as he climbed a pincer that aimed for him and jumped directly onto the Scorpion, stabbing its head and killing it on the spot.His clothes were soaked with these monsters' blood as they had been fighting for a while.“I tried to warn you, Your Grace, but you were quick to jump into battle,” Adrian heard Tank in his head, and he scoffed.“Maybe next time you'll warn me a little faster,” Adrian replied as he was already getting tired.If this battle went on, he would run out of energy, and even his mana wouldn't be able to keep his two Knights running.Overdrive could speed up their battle, but he wasn't sure he had the mana to maintain them while both his Knights were on Overdrive. It was either he activated Overdrive and risked going unconscious in the middle of battle, or he kept fighting with what he had and ran out of energy.The second option was the one he chose.Adrian soon turned to look in a particular direction
CHAPTER 34 — ON A SUNNY DAY
Adrian stooped to catch his breath as he wiped the sweat off his face with his handkerchief.“Damn, this place is hot. I would have chosen another location if I knew I would be burning like this,” Adrian complained as he looked around, seeing nothing but sand and mountains of even more sand.“Tank, you've gone through everything, right?” Adrian asked Tank, who was still in his soul space.He had given Tank his phone to memorize all the monsters and their ranks so that Tank would recognize them on sight.“Yes, Your Grace. With our current capabilities, nothing in this area would pose a serious threat to us,” Tank replied.Adrian kept on walking on the sand, taking steps forward as he kept sinking, but he didn't stop.Soon, his senses alerted him, and he saw five Sand Jackals a distance away, growling and slowly coming closer to him.Their skin was red, and they were a little bit bigger than dogs, with sharp teeth and red glowing eyes.“Advance, Your Grace. CHAPTER 33 — THE HUNT BEGINS
The two buses finally came to a stop in front of a huge building that looked like a hotel.In front of the building was a bus from another school. Quinn College.Quinn College was a school for the wealthy, as they didn’t accept students whose families weren’t influential and rich. They showed preferential treatment to students who came from homes in higher positions.There were also students from that school in the bus and some outside the bus, but the people that stood out the most were a boy and girl, both of whom sat on top of the bus.“Here come the students from Aegis. CHAPTER 32 — THE COLOURED DUNGEON
Adrian sat in the third-to-last seat at the back of the school bus, watching through the window as his classmates rolled their luggage and arranged them before entering the bus he was in and the second bus ahead of them.Mr. Frank had told them that they would spend four days on this field trip exercise so they could learn that there are some dungeons that they would spend days inside and would need to sleep there in order to have the energy to go on and clear the dungeon.He saw Lirielle coming from a distance, rolling her travelling bag and with her hair tied back into a ponytail. God, she was beautiful, and she had a cold expression on her face as one of the instructors went to collect her bag from her. She then approached the bus Adrian was on.She walked down to their seat where Adrian was and locked eyes with Adrian and the boy sitting in the second seat beside him. “As we all know, the field trip is about to begin, and there is something important I need to share with you,” Mr. Frank said, grabbing the attention of the entire class.“There’s something you need to understand about this field trip. Every student in this academy is assigned a Merit Point record.”“You earn Merit Points through examinations, tournaments, training exercises, monster hunts, dungeon expeditions, and other academy activities, and those points aren’t meaningless numbers.”The holographic screen behind him changed, displaying the ranking of the previous first-year class.“At the end of your first year, ten students who accumulate enough Merit Points will become eligible to compete for positions within the Student Council.”The classroom immediately became noisy.“The current Student Council consists of second-year students. “You idiot,” Miren said as she gave Adrian a huge knock on his head.Adrian screamed in pain as he turned back to look at Miren, who had an angry expression on her face.“What the fuck was that?
