[To apply the option, Nod otherwise remains still.]

Lyon’s breathing got weaker as he stared at the screen in front of him. He could barely grasp what was going on. All he knew was that he had two choices in front of him and he was determined to stay alive.

He gathered the remaining strength he had in him to nod and his eyes went shut.

SWOOSH!

Lyon felt a surge of energy rush to his body as if he was in trance. His bones, muscles, and tendons cracked and reformed.

“Arrgh!” he groaned out loud.

The pain he was feeling was 10x worse than the one he had felt when his wife had smashed the vase and jug at  the same spot on his head.

It became so unbearable that he thought he was going to die again.

After a few minutes, he opened his eyes, stunned about what he had just felt, he sprung up from the heap of bodies he had been  lying on and bolted out of the graveyard.

Lyon found it hard to accept everything he had just experienced that night. It felt like a dream to him. He pinched his cheek to confirm he was not dreaming.

His lovely innocent wife, Racheal, had colluded with his boss to kill him and bury him right away.

How was that possible? Why would she leave him after the life they had built together?

They had two kids together and just managed to rent a good apartment with the best view in the town.

They had their dream life in place, she had no reason to betray him like that.

Plus the robotic voice and screen that appeared to him earlier to save his life.

Both of these events made him feel like he was living in a simulation or he had gone insane, but there was one way to confirm this.

Lyon reached for his pocket, his phone was still in it. He opened his bank account and he had a total of $20 in his account.

That was enough to take him to his boss’s house. He walked to the main road, after all it was too late to find a cab at the deserted area surrounding the graveyard.

He took the first cab that passed by him and asked to be taken to Jameson's Villa. The whole ride cost him $19.45, leaving him with fifty-five cents ($0.55).

He noticed a lot of movement in the villa. The servants were moving boxes into the villa.

Before any of them could spot him, he quickly hid in a corner to pick up on the gossip from the servant.

“I never expected that master already has two kids of his own.”

“Did you not hear the maids from the new Madam’s quarter saying that the kids were living with Madam and her former husband?”

“Yes, I heard that. They said her former husband used to work here. Isn't it strange that she is moving in now as the new madam in the middle of the night? We even had to clear out two quarters for her children.”

“Ahem! Ahem!” The butler cleared his throat. “Should I remind you to watch what you say about the master and his family? If you keep running your mouths, I will cut them up.”

“We are sorry, sir.” The servants chorused before they rushed inside.

The guard locked the door right after.

The butler did not deny their claims. Lyon sank on the floor and ran his hand through his hair. None of what had happened was a lie.

His wife had truly tried to kill him. He pulled himself up and started walking to where his legs carried him to.

Not only did she cheat on him with his boss, killed him and ordered that his body be thrown in a mass grave. She did not even feel an ounce of remorse towards him to give him a fair burial or even mourn him.

Worst of all, their kids were not biologically his.

In no time, he arrived at their apartment building. The security guard smiled warmly at him.  “Good evening, Mr Lyon. I didn’t see you when the moving company arrived. Congratulations on your new house. Did you forget something in your former apartment?”

Lyon could not help but just lower his head politely and made his way up to his former apartment.

There was a huge ‘FOR SALE’ sign on the door.  He tore it off before punching the passcode and entering the house.

The place that once felt like home, filled with the warmth of his wife and kids was now completely empty. There was no sign of them in there. He went into the room he shared with Racheal, there was nothing but his uniform, two other shirts and a pair of jeans.

The shoe rack had a pair of all star sneakers.

All these years, he had prioritised the needs of his family before his own, providing them with everything they needed just to find out that his kids weren't biologically his and his wife had been messing around with his boss.

A wave of nausea hit Lyon, his mouth was filled with saliva and his skin turned pale and cold. He rushed to the bathroom, opened the tap by the sink and buried his head under the running water.

He splashed water on his face, closed the tap and looked in the mirror. His jaw dropped.

He was looking at a whole different person. His eyes were dark, symmetrical with chiseled and angular jawline, high, prominent cheekbone as if he were a model

The clothes he had on were torn, not in a terrible way rather as if he had outgrown it. His body was toned and muscular. One would think he was a celebrity with the kind of body he was looking at.

Lyon could not believe his eyes, he ran his hand through his body, his receding hairline was gone. He had the perfect hairline now,

He raised his top up, the dad bod stomach from eating late at night had disappeared. Now he has six-pack abs.

“Holy Shit!” He cursed as he could not believe the transformation he just underwent.

Racheal first heard Lyon's name from the television. She had been sitting in the living room, barely paying attention to the business news while scrolling through her phone, when Gun's face appeared on the screen. The reporter was discussing the growing conflict between Jameson Holdings and an unknown investor who had disrupted one of Gun's major acquisitions. Then Gun made the statement that changed everything: he publicly identified the mysterious investor as Lyon Dwayne.Racheal's phone slipped from her hand. For several seconds, she simply stared at the television."Lyon..."The name escaped her lips like a whisper. She had spent days convincing herself that Kate must have been mistaken. Even after Gun admitted that he had seen Lyon at the business gathering, Racheal had struggled to accept what it meant. She had watched Lyon stop breathing. She had seen him lying motionless after the attack. She had believed that the guards had taken his body away and dumped it into the mass gr

  • Chapter 45

Lyon spent the entire night studying the information Paul had gathered about Jameson Holdings. He had learned his lesson from Northstar Logistics. Having money was useful, but throwing money at every problem would only make him predictable. Gun had attacked one of his businesses expecting Lyon to respond emotionally, and Lyon had nearly fallen into the trap. This time, he would not attack Gun where Gun expected him to. He would find the weakest point in Gun's empire and strike where the damage would be impossible to ignore.Paul stood beside the desk, scrolling through several reports."Boss, I've mapped out most of Jameson Holdings' recent acquisitions."Lyon looked up. "Which one is the most vulnerable?"Paul hesitated. "Meridian Industrial.""Tell me about it.""Gun acquired controlling interest in the company about eighteen months ago. It's one of his biggest acquisitions outside the energy sector."Paul brought up the company's financial information."Meridian owns several man

  • Chapter 44

Gun Jameson had spent the better part of the afternoon staring at the financial reports on his desk, trying to understand how his carefully planned takeover of DwayneTech had suddenly become so complicated. Every move he made seemed to encounter an invisible obstacle. Suppliers he had relied upon were suddenly controlled by unfamiliar investment companies, portions of DwayneTech's debt had disappeared into anonymous hands, and now several of his own business partners were demanding explanations. He had initially blamed Richard, then the mysterious investors, but the more he investigated, the more one name kept appearing in the background.Lyon Dwayne.Gun picked up a file containing Lyon's old employment records and compared it with the financial reports. The contradiction was ridiculous. The man had supposedly been a security guard.Yet somehow, he had appeared at an elite business gathering, purchased a company Gun had wanted for years, acquired portions of DwayneTech's debt, and

The warning from the mysterious sender kept replaying in his mind, but it wasn't the threat itself that bothered him. It was the reference to family secrets. Someone connected to DwayneTech clearly knew he was investigating, and whoever they were had enough access to know exactly what he was looking into. By morning, Lyon had made his decision: before following another financial trail, he needed to speak directly with Richard.Richard was already in his office when Lyon arrived at DwayneTech. The older man looked exhausted, with several reports scattered across his desk and an untouched cup of coffee beside him. The pressure of the hostile takeover was clearly beginning to take its toll. When he saw Lyon walk in without an appointment, he immediately understood that this wasn't going to be an ordinary visit."You look serious," Richard said."I am."Richard gestured toward the chair."Sit."Lyon remained standing for a moment before taking the seat opposite him."I need you to tell

"Boss, I think I've found something," Paul said.Paul had been working on Victor Hale's financial records for most of the night. The executive had been careful, but not careful enough. Every payment Victor received had been routed through legitimate-looking consulting firms and investment companies, making the transactions appear ordinary on the surface. However, Paul had learned that money always left a trail, no matter how many times someone tried to disguise it.Lyon looked up from his laptop."What is it?"Paul turned his screen toward him."The payments to Victor, Marcus, and Daniel aren't coming from Gun directly."Lyon's expression hardened."I already suspected that.""I know. But I followed the trail further."Paul opened another set of documents."All three payment streams eventually connect to the same private investment company."Lyon leaned forward."What company?""Blackridge Capital Partners."The name meant nothing to Lyon."What do they do?""Private investments. By the time the sun rose over the city, Gun Jameson believed he was closer than ever to taking control of DwayneTech. Jameson Holdings had increased its position, the financial media continued reporting on DwayneTech's troubles, and several frightened shareholders were already considering selling their stakes. Gun had spent years waiting for Richard to become vulnerable, and now everything seemed to be falling into place. What he didn't know was that Lyon had spent the previous night preparing a move that would completely change the balance of power.Lyon sat across from Paul in the private office of one of his newly established investment companies. Several reports were spread across the table, detailing DwayneTech's suppliers, distributors, manufacturing contracts, technology licenses, and logistics partners. Lyon had initially planned to focus only on purchasing DwayneTech's debt, but after studying Gun's takeover strategy, he realized that there was another way to hurt him He
