Chapter 7: Elythrine Galerie

Reene didn’t notice his reaction and just sighed quietly. “My father keeps saying it’s the safest choice for me. A stable family, strong connections, no risk.”

Kael stayed quiet for a moment, then looked ahead again.

“Do you want me to help you deal with it then?” He asked

“Yes,” Reene answered almost immediately, but after replying, she froze slightly and frowned.

“Wait!” she looked at him strangely. “Help me deal with it? What do you mean by that?”

Ding! Ding!

Before Kael could answer, his phone suddenly began ringing again, he brought it out wondering who it was this time, but the moment he saw the caller ID, he was stunned. A call from his wife, Lyra Voss.

He looked at the screen in surprise before slowly looking back at Reene.

“Is your wife calling?” Reene asked softly.

Kael nodded in surprise, after all he had been kicked out so he didn't understand why she was calling him. For a moment, he wanted to reject the call completely, but somehow, he could not.

Even though the Voss family treated him badly and Lyra herself had hurt him many times, there were still moments she had shown him kindness before and because of that, Kael had unknowingly grown attached to her.

He finally answered the call but stayed silent, there was silence at the end of the phone before Lyra's voice came through. 

“Where are you by this time of the night?” she asked. “Why are you still outside?”     

    

“Huh?” Kael looked stunned.

“She kicked me out herself and now she’s asking why I’m outside?” he thought in disbelief.

    

Before he could even respond, Lyra spoke again.

“Come home, I’m waiting for you, there’s something I need to tell you, hurry up.”

Immediately after saying that, she ended the call without even waiting for his reply.

“You…” he gritted his teeth lightly.

“She still dares to act arrogant.”

​Honestly, he did not want to return to the Vossvilla at all. He now had 5.1 billion dollars in his pocket. He could stay in the best hotel in Velmoris or buy his own luxury mansion right now if he wanted to. But then, another thought entered his mind.

​Her voice sounded strange earlier and she sounded uneasy.

“​Is she in some kind of trouble?” Kael thought. 

“I know I said I do not want to go back there, but I should at least go and check on her one last time.”

​Thinking of that, he turned toward Reene. “I am sorry, something suddenly came up. I need to head back home first.”

“Don't worry, Reene smiled, you should go, we'll talk another time, I'll order an Uber.    

    

Kael nodded. “Call me if there's any issues then, take care.’

Saying this he turned around and walked away.    

    

Reene stood there surprised. "Call me if there's any issues then." She repeated, looking surprised. 

"Why does he feel so different and manly now? From first saying he can give me a better life in repayment, asking if I need help with the marriage and now this, what happened to Kael?" 

She slowly shook her head. “He’s actually a very nice person, I still don’t understand how someone like him ended up becoming a live-in son-in-law for a family that treats him like trash.” 

​Meanwhile, the cab Kael boarded was driving through the dark streets toward the Voss family villa. Suddenly, Kael saw a massive, glowing building from afar. The words Elythrine Galerie were written boldly at the top of the building.

Even from a distance, the place looked incredibly rich. Expensive sports cars were parked outside, and wealthy people in suits and gowns were walking through the crystal entrance doors.

Kael looked at it quietly for a few seconds before his eyes lowered slightly.

“I’ve never bought anything truly good for Lyra all these years…” he muttered softly to himself.

A bitter smile appeared on his face. For three whole years, he had lived inside the Voss family villa with nothing to offer her. No money, no status, no expensive gifts. Meanwhile, all the ladies around Lyra received luxury items from wealthy men all the time.

​Kael sighed lightly. “Well… since everything between us is probably ending tonight, and now that I finally have money, maybe I should at least buy her something as a final gift.”

​Thinking of that, he raised his head. “Driver, stop there please.”

​“Huh?” The driver looked through the rearview mirror and noticed the jewelry center ahead. His face changed in surprise. “There?”

​“Yes,” Kael nodded calmly. “I want to buy something from inside.”

The driver looked at Kael strangely. Elythrine Galerie was the biggest luxury jewelry center in Velmoris. Only wealthy business bosses, celebrities, and rich young masters went inside. 

Even a tiny item there cost a terrifying amount of money. Hearing Kael, who was dressed in cheap clothes, say he wanted to buy something there was shocking.“You…” the driver almost spoke, but then he stopped himself and stayed quiet.

The driver wanted to say something, but he stopped himself and stayed quiet. Soon, the cab pulled up outside the glowing building.

​“Your fare is seventy bucks,” the driver said.

Kael nodded, handed over the cash, opened the door and stepped out.

The entire Elythrine Galerie building looked elegant and luxurious. The outer walls were designed with massive crystal glass while golden lights reflected beautifully around the entrance area. Even the fountain outside looked expensive.

After Kael entered, he became slightly surprised. The inside was even more luxurious than outside.

Bright lights hung from above while expensive jewelry rested quietly inside shining glass displays. 

​Kael looked around quietly. This was his first time ever entering Elythrine Galerie. Before tonight, he could never afford anything here, so he never dared to step inside.

The workers in the store looked at Kael with disgust. He was wearing a cheap black T-shirt and old jeans. To them, he looked like a beggar who walked into the wrong room, but Kael did not care about their glares.

Just as Kael was quietly looking around the jewelry center, a soft sound suddenly came from one of the large display screens hanging inside the hall.

His eyes lifted slightly. A beautiful silver-white necklace slowly appeared on the screen. The gemstone at the center reflected like moonlight, looking elegant and noble instead of overly flashy.

A beautiful female staff member stepped forward beside the display stand and smiled professionally.

​“For tonight, the featured jewelry of Elythrine Galerie is the Moonveil Seraph Necklace.”

The image of the necklace rotated beautifully on the big screen behind her.

​“Only five pieces of this necklace were ever made in the entire world,” the lady announced proudly. 

“And the one currently here in Velmoris is the final remaining piece.”
