Chapter 8: Moonveil Seraph Necklace

​“Damn…” Kael muttered softly under his breath the moment he saw the necklace clearly. Even someone like him who knew nothing about jewelry could tell it looked beautiful.

The silver-white gemstone at the center looked pure and clean, and the thin design around it made the necklace look elegant and untouchable.

 For some reason, the moment Kael saw it, Lyra’s face immediately appeared in his mind.

​“This would look really beautiful on Lyra…” he muttered quietly to himself.

Just then, the atmosphere inside Elythrine Galerie suddenly became slightly lively, many customers nearby immediately began walking toward the large screen after hearing the announcement.

Some wealthy ladies looked excited while several rich young masters also stopped to stare at the necklace carefully.

“It’s actually the Moonveil Seraph?”

“I heard all the earlier pieces were bought instantly.”

“This is the last one left?”

Just then, one elegantly dressed young woman suddenly raised her hand and asked curiously.

“How much is the necklace?”

The beautiful staff lady smiled professionally before answering calmly.

“The Moonveil Seraph Necklace is valued at one point eight million dollars.”

The moment those words left her mouth, several people around immediately reacted.

“What?!”

“One point eight million dollars for a necklace?”

A few people instantly gasped in shock. Even some wealthy looking customers nearby could not hide their surprise.

“That’s enough to buy a luxury mansion in Velmoris…”

Some ladies who looked interested earlier immediately shook their heads helplessly after hearing the price while others could only continue admiring the necklace from afar.

Meanwhile, Kael himself was also slightly stunned.

“One point eight million…” he muttered softly.

Before tonight, even hearing about one hundred thousand dollars was enough to make him feel hopeless, but now, for the first time in his life, he actually had enough money to buy something like this without worrying at all.

“I’m interested in the—”

Kael had barely opened his mouth when the elegant young woman from earlier suddenly spoke first.

“One point eight million? I’m interested.” she said

The entire area instantly became lively again.

“Wow, she’s buying it just like that?”

“Damn… she must be really rich.”

Several people turned toward the woman in surprise. Kael frowned slightly and looked at her properly for the first time. She looked young, probably around Lyra’s age, but extremely beautiful. 

Her long dark hair rested neatly behind her shoulders, and the black dress she wore made her look very noble.

But despite her beauty, Kael still felt annoyed, after all, he wanted to buy that necklace for Lyra.

“I can't lose this,” he muttered to himself. “No… I have to buy it.”

​He was about to talk when another shocked voice sounded nearby.

​“Wait isn’t that Miss Selene Mirevault?” someone asked, pointing at the young woman.

​“Oh my God yes, that’s really her.”

“No wonder she wants to buy the necklace without even caring about the price.”

Small whispers immediately spread around the area again. Selene Mirevault was well known among the younger wealthy circles of Velmoris.

She was the daughter of the owner of Mirevault Couture, one of the biggest luxury fashion businesses in the city. Their family business was worth several millions of dollars and because of that, Selene herself was already extremely wealthy at a young age.

So hearing her casually say she wanted to buy a necklace worth 1.8 million dollars no longer sounded surprising to many people there.

Meanwhile, Selene herself remained calm, her beautiful eyes quietly stared at the necklace display without paying attention to the discussions around her.

“Mirevault…” Kael muttered softly after hearing the discussions around him. Then he slowly looked back at the necklace on the large screen again.

He did not care who she was.

​“Sorry, but I want this necklace,” Kael said loudly. He raised his head. “I am offering 1.9 million dollars.”

Boom!

The entire area instantly became quiet for a second, everyone immediately turned toward the direction of the voice in shock. Very soon, all eyes landed directly on Kael. Even Selene herself could not help but turn too.

The moment everyone’s eyes landed on Kael properly, the shock on their faces immediately disappeared, soon, strange expressions slowly replaced it instead.

Kael was still wearing the same simple outfit from Magnus Voss’s birthday party earlier. His black shirt looked ordinary while the cheap trousers on him did not even look worth much.

Even the shoes on his feet carried slight dust stains from walking around outside earlier tonight, nothing about him looked rich, In fact, the clothes on his entire body probably did not even amount to one thousand dollars.

Several people immediately frowned.

“This guy?”

“He wants to compete with Selene Mirevault?”

Even Selene herself looked slightly surprised after properly seeing Kael. At first, she genuinely thought some hidden rich young master had spoken, but now, looking at Kael’s appearance, she instantly assumed he was simply joking around or trying to attract attention.

Without bothering too much, she turned back toward the staff lady again.

“One point eight million, I’m buying it, please package it for me.”

The beautiful staff member nodded quickly.

“Yes, Miss Mirevault—”

“I said I’m offering one point nine million.” Kael’s calm voice suddenly sounded again from behind.

Instantly, Selene turned around again and looked at Kael from head to toe carefully, the more she looked at him, the more confused she became.

Simple clothes, dusty shoes, nothing luxurious on him at all. No matter how she looked at it, he did not resemble someone capable of spending millions of dollars on jewelry.

“Stop interrupting,” she said clearly thinking Kael was simply causing trouble.

She was just about to turn back again when Kael’s voice sounded once more.

“I’m not interrupting, I want that necklace.”

Selene stared at Kael for a few seconds before speaking again.

“You want that necklace? Can you even afford it? Did you hear the price properly? One point eight million dollars.” Her eyes moved across Kael from head to toe slowly. 

“And you’re willing to offer one point nine million dressed like a hobo?”

The moment those words came out, several people nearby immediately nodded in agreement.

“Exactly, look at him properly, his entire outfit probably isn’t even worth one thousand dollars.”

“One thousand? I’m sure the maximum should be maybe forty dollars.”

Soft laughter immediately spread around the area.

“And he’s actually trying to compete with Miss Mirevault? That’s honestly absurd.”

Kael looked at Selene calmly after hearing her words.

“You want the necklace, I also want the necklace, how does my clothes change the fact that I can buy?”

Selene frowned slightly hearing that, then Kael turned toward the beautiful staff lady again.

“Since she’s not willing to beat my one point nine million dollar offer, I think you should package the necklace for me instead.”

“You…” Selene’s brows immediately tightened.

She truly did not understand where this poorly dressed man was getting such confidence from. For a moment, she even wondered if he was intentionally trying to provoke her.

The surrounding people also looked at Kael strangely, then Selene suddenly looked back at the staff lady again.

“Two million dollars, I’m offering two million for the necklace.”

“Two point one million dollars.” Kael said
