Reene looked at Kael in surprise, this was the first time she had seen him speak with such confidence since knowing him.
For a brief moment, the serious look in his eyes almost made his words sound believable, but then she suddenly laughed softly. “A car? A house? Even a hospital?” she repeated playfully. “Kael, the way you said it just now, any stranger would think you were some hidden billionaire teasing me.” Kael was stunned hearing that, the funny thing was he was actually serious. Right now, he had 5.1 billion dollars, even one hundred million alone was enough to completely change several lives, yet here was Reene thinking he was joking around. “Reene, I’m being ser—” Ding… Ding… Before he could finish his sentence, his phone suddenly vibrated and began ringing loudly in his palm. “Is that your wife calling to scold you?” Reene asked curiously, tilting her head. Kael didn't answer immediately. Instead, he brought the cracked phone closer to his face and frowned at the screen. “An unknown number? Who could this be?” he muttered under his breath. After hesitating for a second, he swiped the screen and placed the phone to his ear. “Hello?” Instantly, a man’s calm voice came from the other side of the call. “Young master Kael Draven, I hope I didn’t interrupt anything important you were doing?” Kael looked at the phone screen in surprise, another person calling him young master? “This voice was not Vaeric Solthane’s, then who was it?” He thought and asked “Forgive me for not introducing myself properly, young master,” the man said politely. “I’m Said Rothmere. Master Vaeric Solthane gave me your number and asked me to contact you personally.” “Said Rothmere?” Kael frowned slightly, the name sounded strangely familiar but he couldn't remember clearly. Vaeric Solthane was the mysterious subordinate of his dad who had just handed him the matte black card and changed his entire life tonight, but for some reason, this new name felt even more familiar. “Wait!” Suddenly, Kael’s eyes widened. “Said… Rothmere?” His breathing paused slightly as realization hit him, he swallowed hard before speaking again. “You mean… the chairman of AstraVail Consortium?” he asked in disbelief. Said laughed softly over the phone. “You got that right, young master, I am deeply honored that you recognize my name.” Gasp! Kael’s entire body shook lightly, even Reene who was standing a few meters away looked confused after noticing the sudden change in his expression. Of course Kael recognized that name. Absolutely everyone in Velmoris knew the AstraVail Consortium. It was one of the biggest business groups in the entire city and had luxury hotels, real estate, jewelry brands, shipping, tech companies and even private medical investments. Almost every powerful family or business man in Velmoris had tried building connections with AstraVail at some point and Said Rothmere, he was practically a legend in the business world. Countless rich individuals wanted to meet him just for personal discussions but never even got the chance, yet now, that same man was calling him personally and respectfully calling him young master. Kael’s fingers tightened slightly around the phone. “Why… why are you calling me?” he asked slowly, still unable to fully calm down. “Young master, Master Vaeric asked me to make sure your needs are fully taken care of here in Velmoris,” Said Rothmere said respectfully. “So I am here to serve you. Anything you need, I’m just a call away, If it is within my power, I will gladly help you.” Damn… Kael muttered under his breath, his eyes slightly wide. “Does Vaeric really have connections like that?” he thought. “Even the chairman of AstraVail Consortium… serving me like this?” His mind paused for a moment. “Could AstraVail also be connected to my father…?” He stayed silent for a few seconds, still trying to process everything, then he cleared his throat and forced himself to stay calm. “Thank you, Mr. Rothmere,” Kael said politely. “I’ll contact you if I need anything.” “The honor is entirely mine, Young Master. Have a pleasant evening,” Said replied softly before the line went dead. Kael stood still for a moment, staring at his phone like it had changed the world in his hand. After a few seconds, he exhaled and slowly put it back into his pocket before turning around and walking back toward Reene. “Is everything alright?” Reene asked, stepping closer to him. “I saw your face just now, you looked like you had seen a ghost. Was it your wife? Did she scold you for being out late?” “No,” he said with a small smile. “It’s nothing, just a normal phone call.” He adjusted his tone quickly, trying to sound casual. “Anyway, as I was saying before the interruption, I was entirely serious about what I told you. If you want a hospital, I will build you one.” Reene pouted, but in a soft, almost cute way. “Stop playing around, Kael. It’s really not funny anymore,” she said, crossing her arms over her chest. “Do you even hear yourself? A luxury car? A mansion? Are you just trying to tease me to make yourself feel better?” Kael laughed quietly and shook his head. “I’m not teasing you.” Reene stopped walking for a second and looked at him properly. “Fine, If you’re truly being serious, then let me tell you the truth. Right now, I don’t care about luxury cars or mansions. My mind is entirely occupied by a much bigger nightmare.” “What is it?” Kael tilted his head slightly. Reene let out a small breath. “My dad wants me to get married, and he’s already insisting on it.” “Marry?” he repeated. “You don’t like him?” Reene bit her lower lip lightly, shaking her head in clear distress. “No, I don’t. I don’t have a single feeling for him, and I don’t even want to think about marriage right now.” “Then just refuse him. Tell your father no,” Kael said. “I tried,” she replied softly, her voice laced with helplessness as they resumed their slow walk. “But my father keeps insisting that it’s a perfect match. He says the man's family is incredibly powerful and influential, and that marrying him will secure my future forever.” Kael frowned a little. “Who is this guy?” “Raymond Valehart,” Reene said quietly. “He is the son of the Regional Operations Director of the AstraVail Consortium. Because of his father's position, Raymond is doing exceptionally well for himself. His family is immensely rich and commands a huge reputation in high society, that’s why my father is pushing me into his arms so aggressively.” Kael slowed his steps feeling surprised. “AstraVail again?” he muttered under his breath.Latest Chapter
Chapter 70: Aurelia Relic Boulevard
Kael had no intention of returning to the Voss family villa so early. With everyone gathered at home preparing for tomorrow's banquet, he knew the atmosphere would be anything but peaceful. Rather than walking into another round of pointless conversations and subtle ridicule, he decided to enjoy some quiet time alone.Almost without thinking, his feet carried him toward Aurelian Relic Boulevard. It was only his second time visiting the famous antique district, yet its unique charm immediately drew him in once again. The city's most prestigious jade pavilions, antique galleries, traditional tea houses, and centuries-old artifact emporiums lined both sides of the street. Between those luxurious shops, hundreds of independent street vendors had spread silk cloths across the ground to display their treasures.Every few steps, another vendor passionately called out to passing customers."Young Master, come take a look! Genuine Tang Dynasty jade pendant inherited from my ancestors. I'll onl
