A whirlwind of emotions rushed over Edwin. His legs were smitten to the ground as his eyes assessed the emblem.
"Where did you get that from?" Edwin inquired quickly.
Clara shrank back in her steps. "My father! He gave this to me, saying that you made a promise to him. He helped you with something, I don't know. This is your time to help now!"
"That old man. Always taking advantage of people!" Though Edwin growled inside his stomach, there was a strange warmth in his eyes.
"And how about your father?" Inquired Edwin.
Because of the vow that he had made, they have been kept separate from each other for so long now.
Edwin didn't even know that he was the leader of the Whyte family when they had met. The business group had rebranded with each industrial revolution, coming up to this point.
Edwin's hands tightened. A flash of emotion that soon disappeared sprinkled in his eyes. "Are you still going to refuse to help?" Clara held her breath in anticipation.
"Do I have a choice!" Edwin returned. "Where's your car?"
Clara bubbled with excitement. If not for her status as heiress, she would have jumped off the ground into a jump. She bowed and muttered. "Thank you, sir!"
Soon, they got into the car as Clara narrated the issues in detail. "We have a lot of issues, as you already know, Sir Edwin. But lately, there have been issues of food poisoning. This is the first direct attack on the family. My father, who is currently outside the country to sustain his life together with some other members of the family, was the first to be hit. There are only three people who haven't abandoned the Villa. My mom and my sister. We believe that there's a traitor in the family." Announced Clara.
"But it's impossible to do anything since we don't know who it is. We don't know how the poison is administered, and there's no way of even tracing!" Her voice was caught in the kind of fright that only someone as sensitive as Edwin could have.
He nodded his head. Clara thought he was thinking through something and didn't want his thoughts to be interrupted.
Soon, they got to the breathtaking Villa. Lined with Rose Flowers and sculptures that had been thought to have gone extinct.
Anyone would have to be wowed by the sight of it. Clara expected some reaction. However, there was no, just his bare looks. "Is true as he was described to be. Ruthless. Just what we need."
"Do you mind leading the way?" Edwin snapped her once again from her thoughts.
"Again! I'm married!"
Clara almost choked on her breath. This wasn't the first time that she had heard these words. But each time, they felt so different. "And very weird too!" She almost scoffed out but swallowed it.
The young man who was supposed to bring her family to safety was making her display emotions that she never thought she had.
Inside the living room, he was offered a seat. "A moment, Sir Edwin.. Please do me the honour of letting me introduce you to everyone!" She announced.
And immediately, Edwin nodded his head, and she made her way out of the room.
Edwin surveyed the place. It looked ten times bigger than that of the James family, owing to their status as the top five most powerful families in the city.
"What are you doing there?" Someone yelled out at him, the sound almost similar to that of his grandmother-in-law whenever she was angry with him. Which was every time.
His gaze softly shifted to meet that of a middle-aged woman with gray hair. She wore an apron and her face twisted in a crude smile.
"Weren't you informed that the Whytes would be having a guest today, and they need more hands in the kitchen!" Her growls resounded through the soundproof room.
"I think you have made a mistake!" Of course, from the apron that he was putting on, most people would have mistaken him for a cook.
"I'm not a cook! I'm Miss. Whyte's guest!" Corrected Edwin's.
There was first a pause from the head chef before a burst of laughter filtered through the hall. After a few moments, the vicious laughter was replaced once again with her stale looks.
"The guest of the Whyte family looks so pathetic." She scoffed.
"You aren't even fit for my slave. Just because Miss. Whyte got you to assist after I told her not to, which doesn't make you a guest. Rather, you're a beneficiary, fool!" She cursed.
"Guess my foot. I won't even employ you as a slave!" She almost spat, but restrained herself.
It was obvious that she wasn't going to listen to a single word that Edwin had to say. Her twisted glares rushed at him.
"What are you still doing? Sitting like you own the place?" The rude lady growled.
"Seems you're letting the comfort you have never enjoyed before get into your head. But don't worry, I am going to correct that!"
She rushed towards where Edwin was sitting and held him tightly by his earlobes.
Even though he didn't feel any pain, for Edwin, it was disrespectful. Even though he could crank off the hands of the lady at any time, he refrained from doing so.
Her body and bones were already fragile. Any attempt of his, with the slightest mistake, would break her and send her off to her maker. Soon, they were in the kitchen, surrounded by dirty dishes.
"How come Whyte doesn't have a dishwasher?" Inquired Edwin with a look of suspicion.
"What if they do? I want you to do them instead!" A vicious and satisfying smile spread throughout her face.
"Sorry, Grandma. I won't!" Replied Edwin.

Without a hint of emotion, Edwin pointed off towards a man on an apron and a bucket. He was the cleaner and had just arrived after he heard the news of the stranger and his mother, Madam Grace, being evicted from the Villa. "You wanted the person who was responsible for all these, right? There he is!"A wave of shock ran through the hall. The murmurs became prominent."Now I think Miss. Whyte got for herself a Madman instead of a .""To think that he would point at Harry out of anyone else.""I think that's it because Harry has a resemblance to Madman Grace and he wants to settle scores with her!"Harry was one of the most carefree people in the Villa. He was always doing his job properly and checking up on everyone. "You must be out of your mind!" Vivian barked."Edwin. You don't have to be under pressure. We can give you as much time as you want to do your research! Before coming to us with anything!"Harry's looks remained calm and poetic. As though he wasn't even the one who had b

Meanwhile, at the other part of the city, Vivian's assessing gaze cuts through from the head of Edwin's down to his throat, her legs tapping slightly on the floor with so much disgust. "Clara!" She called out, her voice trying to hide the disrespect in it."Are you sure that you aren't making a terrible mistake? I mean, just take a look at him. Is this the person who is supposed to help us from our recent predicament?" She hissed, still staring at Edwin from head to toe."Vivian. There aren't any mistakes here! I can tell you that I saw for myself what he is capable of!"Vivian shook her head in utter disapproval. There definitely could not be anything good in this person, who was dressed as a common cook and nothing more. "The only thing that I think he is good at is being broke and poor, Clara! We should send him away already!"Clara frowned deeply. She hates it when anyone disrespects her guests. And this time, it wasn't just any guest; it was the one who was supposed to rescue the

One of the servants inquired."I think it's a new worker. And he already had a problem with Madam Grace. Doesn't he know who she is?""You just said that he is new. So how's he supposed to know?" Another hissed."But certainly. His stay in the Villa is going to be very short. Madam Grace is treated with so much respect by the heiress because of her age. If Madam Grace wants anyone gone, then she is going to see to it!" The other worker proclaimed."Se
