Seven dreadful figures filled the room. Men whose presence stilled the air. The weight of their aura pressed down against the room, suffocating even the wind.

Fear clung in the air like thick smoke.

They were the seven Gods of War. The protectors of Mog.

Each of these men has slain thousands, saving the lives of millions more from the wars that ravaged the West.

And after the wars, they have been named heroes. Their names carved into streets, and their pictures tattooed into arms.

However today, the unshakable stood shaken.

Their foreheads dripped with sweat, clogged with fright like little children plagued by a ghost.

And one by one, they collapsed to their knees.

If the citizens had seen this sight, they would have died out of shock.

But they weren't kneeling before just any ordinary man. They were the God of War, feared, revered, and worshiped by everyone.

And the only one that could strike fear into their hearts, make them hide in their holes and shudder was…

Hudderson.

He appeared unassuming, lean muscles, calm composure and an innocent face that could belong to any wanderer. Yet the weight of his presence crushed even the mightiest Gods of War.

"Please forgive us, master. " They wailed with their bodies trembling.

Hudderson, the man the world could only whisper about with reverence and dread. The hidden hand behind every won battle, Ruler of the Gods of War.

"You've done nothing wrong!" Hudderson spoke softly, his words calm yet it carried the sharp edges of a blade.

Haitus, God of War of the South dared to raise his head, shakingly. “If we have done nothing wrong, then why do you intend to leave us?”

Hudderson's eyes narrowed.

Years ago, Hudderson was not the Almighty God of War. He had a life that he remembers close to nothing about.

Apart from having a happy family that was murdered through an arson, a sister that might still be alive, he clearly remembers the girl that had saved his life. Brave and reckless, throwing herself in harm's way, even though they were merely strangers.

She had hidden him in the river, where faith carried him off to a military base to begin a new life. Day after day he trained, and struggled, rising to the highest known rank of the Supreme Ruler.

Now that there was peace, he had only one purpose.

To find her.

The only lead that he had was that she was a Sinclair, a popular family in Mog.

"I'm retiring!" Hudderson declared, his tone firm.

"And I will not entertain interference while I enjoy my peace. Is that understood?” His voice raised only so slightly and yet, the men flinched as though the earth itself had shaken.

"Yes.. yes Ruler." They stammered. Throats dry and eyes lowered. They had a lot of questions, but no one dared to ask, not if they valued their lives.

"For the time being.” Hudderson continued.

“Take care of the affairs of your domain. I wouldn't want anything drawing me back to this... War zone while I am away."

"We will do as you have commanded Supreme Ruler!" They all chanted in unison.

Hudderson gave a small slight nod. “Do so for your own benefits.”

*******

The address of the woman he was searching for, glowed on the screen of his phone. Charlotte Sinclair, that was the only name he had, the only clue to the girl that had saved his life.

But before searching for her, he had another duty.

He stood before the grave of his family. Or what remained of them. Hudderson's hands stung and his hands clenched… Tightly and painfully. Time and neglect had reduced the one's powerful name to a pile of molten stones.

This was what they had been reduced to. Sharing graves with bodies that had been abandoned in the streets of Mog.

Hudderson's veins rushed with fury.

"I'm definitely going to find your killers.” He swore. “ And I will make sure I avenge your deaths.” The words rolled off his lips and even the air around seemed to shrink in solemnity.

Not far away, danger brewed.

“She's alone. Weak. The perfect target.” Two thugs whispered to themselves, licking their lips with lust

Their eyes feasted on the young lady who was just a few fits away. Her skin soft and radiant swaying with the aura of a seductress and the calmness of the wind. And her steps, as fluid as a song. She was indeed perfect.

They pushed forward, encircling her. Their lips, clashing against their tongues just at the thought of having her to their loins.

"Hello Love!" Desire burned in their eyes, raising tiny bulges just beneath their stomach.

She ignored them.

Their pride ignited, rage flashed in their eyes. They stepped right on her path.

"Isn't that too much arrogance for someone alone?" Desire twisting into their faces as they flared.

"I don't believe we have any business together.” She said, “So get out of my path.”

"Not too fast. We don't need to have any business with you.” Golden teeth hissed, laughter slipping through his lips.

“But our little guy down there does have a lot of business with you for sure!" Their laughter turned dark and villainous.

"You don't want to mess around with me!"

"Or what!” Golden teeth jeered. “Beat us to death?" They laughed even harder.

"Look, princess. Even though your daddy rules the world outside, we rule this world!"

They lunged at her, hand clawing, Hungry and starved. They wanted her. Tearing her clothes while she protested strongly. But they didn't stop, their lunatic laughter only increasing even further.

"Touch her again if you have a death wish!" The voice cuts through the chaos like lightning.

Hudderson stood at the edge of the alley. His voice was cold and menacing.

They eye-fucked Hudderson. He was soft, weak, and even poorer. Another perfect pry.

"Looks even weaker than the girl to me!" Golden teeth glanced at him and scoffed.

"Guess another stray mutt decided to join the party. It only makes things better!"

The girl, her heart hammering, dared to glance at Hudderson. Disappointment churned in her chest. Her supposed savour, he looked ordinary, too ordinary.

"Does he really think he could even make the air shift with a punch?" She surveyed him thoroughly. The bitter sensation of disappointment twisting with her stomach.

Yet she could not shake the unsettling calm in her eyes.

Gabriel searched for laughter on his step-brother’s face, but he couldn’t find it, not even the smallest sign to show that he was bluffing. He was forced to swallow hard, and again, he turned to Hudderson just to be sure that he was ready to defend him as he had done in the past. “Where are the men you speak of?” Hudderson broke the silence, staring into Nelson’s eyes. He left him speechless, but he was not done speaking. “Tell them to come. Maybe I will make you watch me beat them up just so you know what’s coming for you.” He paused for a few seconds, gnashing his teeth. “You are lucky Gabriel begged me not to touch you…” He paused, but Nelson didn’t need to hear the rest of his words. He already could see Hudderson fighting with the urge to sink his fists into his face. However, it didn’t look like he was ready to give up on his ego, gathering enough momentum to break his silence. “I want you out of this mansion. The guards were shocked at what was going on, feeling the tension hanging in the air. Nelson inched closer to Gabriel, and then he snorted, glaring at his face. “You shouldn’t have come back, bro.” He whispered, gnashing his teeth. Then he realized that someone else was standing right next to him, someone who looked a bit familiar. Turning to Hudderson, Nelson stared at his familiar face, but after a while, he succumbed to the bemusement that crawled into his mind. “Do I know you? Have we met?” He asked, eager to get a response. Hudderson scoffed, shaking his head slow

She forced a smile the moment she pulled away from him, looking him in the eyes. Just then, Hudderson appeared before them, but his main focus was on Gabriel, his friend. “We need to leave this place, Gabriel. Now.” He said, with a smirk across his face, staring at his friend, whose expression instantly dropped. Gabby was not left out of the gloom, shaking her head while she tried to hold back her tears. She sniffled moments before it dropped, and then she turned to Hudderson, inching two desperate steps closer to him. “Please don’t take him away from me, Sir!
